  1. Alex Edler just signed a 6 year 30 million deal. Could've been UFA at seasons end. Any impact on Subban?
  2. Personally I think there is too much hype surrounding Subban and it makes him out to be a better player then he actually is. I still view him as a good player I just think there are too many people that make it sound like he just won the Norris. Thats why I rather go with a bridge contract on him just like with Pacioretty and Price to further watch his development especially under new coaches. If he develops into the player I hope he does then eventually he'll be paid for it and if he doesn't develop into the player we don't have to worry about having yet another player thats not earning his contract. I understand the risks with giving him a long term contract or a short term contract right now. I am more comfortable with the risks associated with a short term.
  3. I say you give Subban 8 pucks and put him at the blue line. For each puck he hits the net with he gets a year on his contract. It's like that million dollar shot thing but just much more expensive.
  4. I'm figuring they will do a second buyout since Subban still needs a contract which isn't factored in right now, Galchenyuk has a 3m hit if he makes the team, and Desharnais will also be due a nice raise especially if he picks up where he left off last season.
  5. Ideally I want them to pick Grig or Galy but I wouldn't be upset if they drafted someone like Forsberg, Murray, Dumba. As long as they don't do something completely off the board I will be fine with the pick and hope the player doesn't get hurt and doesn't become a complete bust.
  6. I have to agree we have had 0 luck with injuries this year and it has played a huge part in our lack of success. Then toss in the fact we just don't have the depth at the AHL level this year (subban, desharnais, white, pacioretty) and management just causing unnecessary distractions left and right and you have what equates to a season like we are having.
  7. Yea the guy i really want in the draft is grigorenko and trading 2nd overall pick for someone we only control for 1 year would be the wrong move. If we are going to trade our pick it's gotta be someone thats under contract long term or someone we'll control for a long period of time.
  8. What would you give up then if Habs finished 4th to get the 2nd overall pick and the guarenteed center.
  9. If Edmonton ends up with the 2nd overall pick who do you think they end up taking if Nail goes first?
  10. Nashville gave up a 1st round pick for Paul Gaustad and 4th round pick. Considering Habs were one of the few sellers this deadline moving only 2 players (counting Gill) is disapointing. So we still have 3 impending UFAs and 7 defensemen with Markov a possible 8th.
  11. Same I can't stand the whole 7 defenseman thing and if Markov comes back then it'll get worse.
  12. I am only expecting Campoli to be dealt by habs and to be done by last minute by a team that couldn't get anything else to work with other teams.
  13. I'm hoping for 2 more Staubitz's really want that 2nd overall pick.
  14. He's on the last year of his deal worth 600k and 575k cap hit though habs only take 50% of that.
  15. Yea that was my same thinking when I heard the 2nd round in 2013. In the end I rather not take the chance of him walking in the offseason and getting nothing back for him.
  16. 2nd rounder in 2013 and the 5th round conditional back from Gill trade
  17. Some people now reporting it's done Kostitsyn to Nashville no word on return yet.
  18. Even though we are having a horrible season if we can bring in a good stable GM and coach we should be able to bounce back fairly quickly. We got really hurt by injuries this year and then add in the fact we just didn’t have the quality call ups we had the year before to fix it. That ended up leading to coaches being fired and players being traded and toss in the Montreal media to the mix and just lead to a lot of distractions this season. Next year we’ll have a bunch of junior players jumping up to AHL level and that might give us some better depth. Plus we should be drafting fairly early in each round of this years draft and might be able to get someone in 1st round that can jump straight into the lineup. Hopefully we don’t get owned by injuries next year and we buyout Gomez to free up some more cap space. We still have a decent core to build around and the key ingredient in an all-star goalie. Hopefully after the trade deadline the guys we expect to be key players in next season team get an increase in playing time and see their roles improve. Really would like to see Gomez off the powerplay and someone like Eller get some time there.
  19. Should change the title of the thread to "Lazy Habs at Caps"
  20. I agree with the $3.75/year at 3 years for $11.25m. While I would like to keep Kostitsyn I think his time with the habs is over and I expect him to be traded at the deadline. While I think he does in fact like playing here I think he will leave via free agency to a team he thinks he can get more ice time from. I think his value on the market right now is a 2nd and 4th round pick. I expect him to be traded on draft day to either Blues, Rangers, Penguins, or Kings with Kings being my front runner if they fail to land a bigger fish.
  21. While Moen and Gill might be worth 2nd round picks to individual teams the chances of them combined being worth a 1st round and 3rd round pick to a team is very minimal. That’s why most deadline deals are built around 1 player with picks/prospects used to balance it out if necessary. Nashville valued Gill fairly highly but they might not have valued Moen highly and simply viewed him as a nice piece but not worth trading for. Where as a team like Chicago might be desperate for a Moen and willing to give up a 2nd and a prospect. So finding a team to value 2 free agents neither of which is a top 6 foward or a top pairing defenseman as a 1st round pick is going to be tough.
  22. Have to be happy getting a 2nd round pick and 2 players back for Gill. I figured his value was more along the lines of a 3rd rounder but I guess Nashville got desperate.
  23. Really hoping to finish bottom 2 but as long as we can finish bottom 5 which is more realistic then we have a shot at Lottery and maybe after a season with a lot of losing we'll win the important one. I think what it is going to come down to is what moves Anaheim, Carolina, Buffalo, and ourselves make at the deadline. I see both the Islanders and the Oilers playing a bit better down the stretch since it seems their young guys are really hitting their strides. Luckily we are so far out of it right now that PG will just focus on dealing off players rather then trying to pick up a top line foward.
