  1. Um, why was there no penalty when whoever the Canes player was playing with a broken stick, then tossed it at the puck during play?
  2. Hear, hear! Of course everyone knows that it's most Habs fans favorite past time...lamenting the player that's no longer on the team.
  3. And this was exactly my point. What the Avs did with those two guys would be the equivalent of Montreal retiring Denis Savard's number.
  4. My only point, regarding my earlier post, is that Theodore wasn't the "big reason" why the Avs won today, which is what the thread topic would indicate. Watching the bulk of the series, the Avs carried a lot of the play. Even when they were down 2-0 in game 1, they weren't in trouble at all.
  5. Well, I was chatting on the phone during most of the third, but sheesh, I come back and find doomsday written all over! Other than an abysmal first period (save the last couple of minutes), Montreal played a great second, capped by Kovalev's goal, and did play hard in the third. The Canes didn't quit when they were down 2-0, so that Habs aren't throwing in the towel down 3-2. They shouldn't be dejected after this game, they played well enough to win, but couldn't bury it behind Ward. The Habs will come out flying on Tuesday and send the series back to Carolina for game 7. Instead of being the typical whining Montreal fan, how about everyone works to get behind this team! Go Habs!
  6. Much better period by the Habs...they need to carry that momentum to the 3rd. AND NOT TAKE ANY PENALTIES!!!
  7. Argh, this penalty needs to go away. Stupid delay of game crap. C'mon Habs PKers!!! And for God's sake, keep Brind'amour out of the crease!!
  8. A lot, apparently. Grr. On a side note, man I hate Geico ads.
  9. Sheesh, c'mon folks, it's a 1 goal game right now, how 'bout trying to support the team instead of being all doomsday. For once, I decide to play on the boards during a game night, and all it's doing is chasing me away.
  10. If this announcer continues to say "Ward says no" after every save (as he's been thus far) I'm flying to Raleigh and shooting him.
  11. Habs 5-5 are playing well right now, they need to beat Ward and let the floodgates open!!
  12. Quick first period observations: 2 best lines, the 4th (either when Begin or Bonk is centering) has been full of energy on every shift, they were the first group to have any form of sustained pressure in the period. Perezhogin/Plekanec/Zednik has played well, also. Higgins and Ryder are playing better than they did in the previous game. I like that line better with Begin centering, as he did a few times during the first. Thankfully, Markov wasn't hurt badly when he blocked that shot, when he went down like a bag of bricks and the Canes had basically a 2 on oh, I was worried. Keep funneling the point guys, it'll work eventually.
  13. He's not taking Bonk's spot, he's replaced Sundstrom, who is a healthy scratch tonight.
  14. Theo played well, but the Stars were shooting from everywhere...instead of dumping the puck into corners, they were forcing shots to the net and making him handle the puck. They shot from sharp angles, center line, blue line, behind the net, from helicopters, etc...Of those 52 shots, very few were of high quality, and he still hasn't really done anything stellar. Stats don't tell the whole story.
  15. I prefer either The Joshua Tree, or the Unforgettable Fire. And speaking of Under a Blood Red Sky, I think it would be pretty cool if they played at Red Rocks again. I've got a few shows I'm going to see there this summer, still the best venue I've ever been to.
  16. Why not? Ha. It's not like they won't get there share anyway. Heck, they can stand in the crease at will and get no calls... Obviously, a little toungue in cheek here.
  17. And he managed to "accidentally" lay the lumber on some more Habs tonight, especially on Markov. They need to keep this guy's stick under control. I'd dress Todd Simpson to clean his clock.
  18. Well that just sucks. Dig the non-call on the high stick by Williams on Markov.
  19. I agree, actually. In fact, one thing I don't see staying the entire course of the game is Bonk centering Higgins and Ryder. I still see Plekanec eventually being the center on the line at some point.
  20. I don't disagree that Versus may well become a decent sports network. I'm talking about here and now though, as far as the "conspiracy theory" that the NHL is trying to guide certain teams to the Cup for ratings. Sorry for the threadjacking....Go Oilers! I'd love it if the self-proclaimed HockeyTown was eliminated.
  21. The Avs are so excited to retire numbers, Karlis Skrastins will be up there the day after he retires.
  22. Well, I didn't see that play in question, but similar penalties have been called this year: interference. I've seen a few pick plays that have been called, but more that haven't. As far as the CBC announcers complaining about that noncall, whaddya expect? The Oilers are Canadian, so I would expect the "hometown" announcers to whine just like any other hometown folks do. And I scoff at any notion of the NHL and TV ratings...c'mon, no major network would pick them up without a bad deal for the NHL (when are they going to learn that Saturday afternoon games just don't draw people to the TV). The league is banished to OLN (soon to be renames Versus), which isn't in a lot of homes, and hockey still has lower ratings than bowling, skeet shooting, competitive spitting, etc. The NHL needs to change it's overall marketing package before they can hope to increase TV ratings in the states.
