  1. As I said in a different thread, I don't expect Gainey to pull the trigger on anything, but I'm in the extreme minority.
  2. So the Habs would replace close to 1/3 or their current playing roster? I expect nothing this year, to be quite honest, other than rumors to continually swirl until the deadline passes. I'm excited for d-day, but don't think much of any consequence will occur with the Habs.
  3. Been awhile since I've been around, but here's to the Habs beatin' the Flyers tonight! I'm loking forward to a much needed evening on the couch cheering the team on. Go :hlogo: Go!
  4. Thanks for the writeup. I had to check out the topic since I saw Clarkson listed, and that's my old school.
  5. Look for me there tonight! I'll bring the camera and try to snap some decent pics. Go Habs!
  6. Too bad I couldn't bump into the Habs brass at the game, I'll be there tonight! Look for the weirdo with the big Canadiens flag sitting up in the rafters. That said, I would still be surprised (hopefully pleasantly so) if the Habs pulled the trigger on anything with the Avs. I dunno, I just don't see it happening.
  7. My point was NJD offered Nieds the max salary and he took less to play with his brother. If Saku really wanted to, and Minny offered, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go there. He did come back too early from his last injury to play that game against his bro with the parents in attendence.
  8. I bet Minnesota's weather is like Finland too. Niedermayer took less money to play with his brother in Anaheim, what's to say Koivu wouldn't do the same if the opportunity arose in Minnesota? Every player says the same thing when a contract is expiring "I want to stay here"...we'll see if it happens or not. That line is almost as common as a GM telling a player "I'll never trade you". Haha...I still recall how badly Muller felt after being dealt to the Isles.
  9. Quote from the Gazette: Part of it can be attributed to Julien's major weakness, which is a reluctance to let his younger players learn on the job. The Canadiens made room for a number of rookies this season, but the coach's response to injuries has been to play his veterans more. The result has been fatigue for the veterans and lack of confidence among the youngsters.
  10. Of the wingers you listed, 2 are in the minors for no contribution this year, or even within the next 2. Zhog and Higgins get random ice time on various lines. Dagenais??? Ugh, won't touch that one. What we're left with is Kovy, Ryder, and a defensive winger in Bulis. To say the Habs don't need help at wing would be, IMO, an incorrect statement.
  11. I haven't heard anything about Calder. The only rumours I've heard out of Chicago were centered around Arnason.
  12. And then Doug Gilmour flew after Varada with a knee/knee hit that took him out...I remember that game well.
  13. Funny. The Habs claimed Begin off waivers from Buffalo.
  14. Bonk has a stroined grain from the morning skate. I'd still say he's doubtful for this game.
  15. ... Guess they forgot that we played the Sens already once this season... and if my memory serves me right... Bonk DID play that game... They must've corrected it. The article now says it's the first time he's played in the Corel Centre since he was traded...
  16. Let's drop the puck! I think I'm off to a bar to catch the game...no Centre Ice for me for another couple of weeks.
  17. Nice little piece on Higgins from FoxSports. http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/5014512
  18. Just perusing many different sites, and noticed the regular season power rankings at sportsline. Pretty cool to see that they have rated the Habs highly: 2nd!! http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/story/8953605
