  1. someone who knew nothing about hockey, only that i'm from Canada and was a hockey nut decided to go out and buy me a Team Canada hockey jersey (1998 Olympic version, i believe) - one of the expensive ones! I was thrilled upon opening the box, until i saw the name on the back of the jersey ... LINDROS!!!! ahhhhhhhh!!!! Needless to say, it hasn't been worn too often, maybe now that Lindros is with the Maples, I can get away with it now and then .. but still... LINDROS!!!! ahhhhhhhh!!!!
  2. Seriously - i still can't believe it's Youppi! I like the idea, but it's kind of risky - I mean - the Expos sank (or were sunk) and Montrealers didn't exactly rally around the team. Youppi!'s brand had to be tarnished as he is associated with bad memories for those who are glad the Expos are gone or bad memories for those who with the Expos never left. The only way this is a good move is that it saves money by not having to create a new character, and the hope and prayer that there are enough Expos fans from the 80s and early 90s to remember and cherish the good old days. I think it's risky - I probably wouldn't have done it or recommended it - but, I do like it!
  3. who really cares, lighten up. now we think millionaires aren't allowed to kid around?!? unless we were in the room and experienced the atmosphere there was in the room, there's no way we can judge an action like that. imagine if the room felt like he was with a bunch of pals at the bar or wherever, in a social environment - then it would be funny. sure he should have known better, sure he should remember that he needs to be on guard 24/7, but he didn't - i'm not holding this against him.

    NHL Quiz

That last question got me - i said Chicago, not Florida - you should have seen me, my hands were shaking, my brow was sweating, i was so nervous as i was going for 10 for 10, but alas, i fell short! thanks for the quiz - enjoyed it!
  5. Peter Puck - i just read that heartwarming story of a 6 year old who could see beyond the fleeting fancy of a Maples Stanley Cup win :puke: - but just think my friend - May 2, 1967 was the last day you were ever a loser, YOU'VE BEEN A WINNER EVER SINCE! So, congrats, and thanks for jumping on board and never jumping off! YOU, my friend, :/) are one of the reasons HABS RULE!!!! :ghg:
  6. i'd go in this order Chicago - love the city Columbus - wife from Ohio Carolina - HWL!!! basically any team starting with a 'C' - but not Colorado - all i see when i see the Avs is the Nordiques - and cheering for them was worse than the Maples!
  7. I have 3 Messier rookie cards - and you're right - I can't seem to get even close to beckett value for them.
  8. 36 - 1 great wife, 3 great kids by the way, alex, i grew up in Brossard - if i wasn't so old, i may know you! also, i can't believe how great this site it - you guys who run this thing do an ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE job - i wish i'd discovered this sooner!
  9. I believe the Bank of Montreal headquarters moved to Toronto a number of years ago.
  10. i agree, carbo, until theo shows me some consistancy, there's no way he should be near khabi money (khabi doesn't deserve khabi money!) - i just hate to lock up so much money in a player that shows flashes of superstardom, i want a full-time superstar for top dollar.
  11. The espn link a couple posts earlier had Dandenault using number 11 - is that true?
  12. i'm always a sucker for fantasy teams - sounds like a challenge to bring life to this sorry team through the waiver wire -- if you still need someone, let me know ... what's ONE more team!
  13. i like it best when the song is unique to Montreal - it just feels wrong when another team uses the 'Na na na na Baby-Good-bye' song. whatever is chosen, they need to make sure it only used for the habs, by the habs, to CELEBRATE HABDOM!!!! BTW - thanks for the loreille link - i'm enjoying it (my co-workers ... no so much)
  14. does anyone know what the penalty is for a team going over the cap?
  15. another one down, many more to go! i'm glad we aren't overpaying. this is good and fair. i'm sure if he puts up another 65+ points this year he'll be eligible for the 3 million for 3 years type of deal.
  16. i hope this rumour goes away. i'd rather gainey offer a low salary 3.5-4 for 1-yr and put theo in the position to prove he's either worth the big money as a UFA next year or not. if theo is THAT good, BG will have to offer the 6-6.5, but at least everyone will know he earned it - then it will be to theo to decide if he wants 6.5 from mtl or from wherever. unless any trade is conditional upon locking up luongo for a long time - this just doesn't seem like progress for the habs.
  17. it's PHILLY ... bobby (call me bob) clarke! ... he might have signed him to trade him. i don't think they will move him, but i doubt the signing should squash the story.
  18. i think he'd be a good addition (obviously depending on cap space). his defense isn't as bad as it was with those horrible TB teams and offensively he continues to produce a point every other game. he's the type who should thrive with the new rule.
  19. kovalev has 2 inches and 30 lbs on hejduk, but is 3 years older. kovalev has only played 3 years where he's gotten at least a point a game, just like hejduk. there real close. i'm glad we have kovalev for his size, plus who knows how hejduk will do without forsberg, kariya, selanne, foote, etc. around? kovalev earned his CH in the playoffs.
  20. i love kovalev, but hejduk has put up some good numbers recently - if colorado offered hejduk for kovalev, i think i'd take it.
  21. But wasn't Hejduk a restricted free agent, so he had less negotiating leverage? The interesting thing to me is the length of the contract - Hejduk could have signed for less years and commanded a higher salary in his next contract.
