  1. Supposedly they made final offers to both Markov and Radulov. Does this mean whichever one agrees they just drop the other? Or did the low ball one of them (Markov?)?
  2. I'm not seeing how we afford all 3 of Markov, Radulov and Galchenyuk now. We have 15 million cap space. The best I can see is 4 million for Glachenyuk, 6 million for Radulov and 5 million for Markov. I don't think any of the 3 will sign for that number.
  3. Yes I admit the first tie break is hard to explain. Basically it is intended to reward someone who comes very close to the final record over some one who is far off. For example someone who had predicted 36-6-10-20 = 102 pts would lose the first tie breaker to any of the 3 finalist this year. Normally I would not have used the first tie breaker this year, but someone predicting an 80 game season , come on.
  4. Whoops. Apparently I thought the season is 92 games.
  5. Okay we have our winner(s). The Habs finished the season 57-26-7-2 for 103 points. 47-26-7-2 for 103 points. Three posters came within 1 point of the correct total. thehabbit predicted 47-25-5-5 = 104 pts and kaos predicted 46-26-6-4 = 102 pts BlueKross predicted 46-24-6-4 =102 pts. The first tie breaker (accuracy of final record) forces me to put BlueKross in third place since his prediction is predicated on an 80 game season. Both thehabbit and kaos predicted 2nd in the Atlantic. But thehabbit finishes second based upon their predictions of where the Habs would finish league wide: Montreal finished 7th as kaos predicted, while thehabbit predicted 6th overall. So the winner of this year's contest is kaos. Congratulations.
  6. We won't disqualify you but you will lose all tie-breakers.
  7. I'm sticking with my prediction for last year. I hope I'm not off by 29 points again. 50-21-8-3 for 111 points 1st in the Atlantic 1st in the East 2nd in the league 248 GF.
  8. I've been procrastinating since the Subban/Weber trade sapped my enthusiasm. But I do like the lines and the willingness to play some rookies. So its time for the 11th Annual HabsWorld season prediction contest. Hall of Fame: 2006-2007 Jean won with a prediction of 92 points when the Habs finished the year with 90 pts. If only we could have won that last game. 2007-2008 Adirondack Bud exactly predicted our final total of 104 pts. 2008-2009 Zowpeb won by predicting a strong start followed by a slower 2nd half ending with 99 points. The Habs finished the season in 8th place with 93 points. On September 22, 2008 Zowpeb predicted "I think we'll see a rough patch just past the mid-year point..." Wow! 2009-2010 Joelassister correctly predicted the Habs would finish with 88 points. Honourable mention to kaos who predicted a season record of 39-34-9 (87 pts) while the Habs finished 39-33-10. 2010-2011 Chips produced the all time best prediction. His preseason prediction of 44-30-8 for 96 pts 6th in the East, 14th in the NHL was exactly correct in every aspect. That amazing feat will be hard to duplicate. Honourable mentions went to Seb whose excellent prediction of 44-30-8 for 96 pts. 5th in east, 13th in NHL came up just short; and to Peter Puck who also correctly predicted the Habs would finish with 96 points. 2011-2012 sakiqc Our fearless leader won with his prediction of 37-34-11 for 85 points. The Habs record was 31-35-16 for 78 points. Honourable mention went to Habsfan who correctly predicted that the Habs would score 212 goals. 2012-2013 illWill won by predicting the Habs would finish with a record of 27-16-5 for 59 points. The Habs finished 29-14-5 for 63 points. Honourable mention to PMAC and to former champion Chips who both predicted the Habs to finish with 58 points. 2013-2014 Meller93 exactly predicted the Habs final record 46-28-5-3. Honourable mention to thehabbit who correctly predicted the Habs final point total and just missed getting their record exactly right. 2013-2014 nihliz predicted 50-23-5-4 for 109 points. In fact the Habs finished the season 50-22-5-5 for 110 points. Honourable mentions went to nhfarber who predicted 49-23-4-6 for 108 points and to sakiqc who predicted 51-26-1-4 for 107 points 2015-2016 Chris predicted 40-30-8-4 for 92 points. The injury ridden Habs finished the season 38-38-3-3 for 82 points. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2016-2017 edition Same rules as last season. Predict a) what the Habs regular season record will be: wins-losses-OTL-SOL b) in what place in the Atlantic Division the Habs will finish c) in what place in the league the Habs will finish d) the total number of goals the Habs will score this season (including 1 goal per shootout win). The winner will be based upon the most accurate prediction of the Habs final points, then most accurate record prediction. The latter three predictions will be used successively to break ties. Don't forget to separate overtime losses and shootout losses. Entries due before puck drop on Thursday Oct 13.
  9. To me, I never saw the time this season when it made sense to trade for a goalie. At first it looked like Condon would be adequate. Then when it became clear he wouldn't, it seemed like only a few more weeks and we'll get Price back. That continued for a long while. After that it was clear that no average goalie was going to be enough to get us into the playoffs and hoping Carey would return was our only hope. In retrospect, it seems like maybe we should have traded a 2nd rounder for a goalie but its a lot easier to see that now. I would have been mad if MB had made such a trade at any point this season,
  10. You beat me to it Commandant. I'll just add that we got Kassian and a 5th for Prust (who is in the AHL). So I think criticizing MB for Kassian dosn't make much sense.
  11. Wow, that is the definition of an easy win. Just need 0.33 goaltending to secure a win.
  12. I'm not convinced that there is such a thing as clutch players but if you do believe in it then Price has to be one of the best clutch players around. His performance in elimination games in the playoffs and olympics recently is unparalleled. I definitely think he is worth 10 million a year. Plus I don't know how we are supposed to acquire this mythical 8 million dollar forward except by trading Price.
  13. People advocating for MT to be fired should realize that we may get Lefebvre as his replacement. If you think we need a new coach, who should it be?

  16. Okay my french isn't too bad for an anglo but I am baffled by RDS's advanced stats. What are a) tirs de l'enclave (and passes vers l'enclave)? b) cadres ?
  17. Are you sure about this Stogey? It would be about $100 bucks if you get 3 months free and then 3 more months but my experience leads me to suspect that you will have to sign up for a minimum of 1 year. So you'd get 3 free months and then have to pay for 9 more.
  18. Great. That might be why I don't remember it. Thanks.
  19. Watching the Chicago/Nashville game, Chicago's backup goalie Darling is in. The announcers just said that he played for the Bulldogs 3 years ago. Is that correct, I don't remember him.
  20. Yes the winner is nihliz who predicted 50-23-5-4 for 109 points while the Habs record was 50-22-5-5 for 110 points. Honourable mentions to nhfarber who predicted 49-23-4-6 for 108 points and to sakiqc who predicted 51-26-1-4 for 107 points The Habs had a great regular season, but many HW members expected this. Well done!
  21. Thanks. I'll bask in my fame for the rest of the season at least.
  22. During our last game against the Canucks, there was a video review of a play when Price stopped the puck on the goal line. The video review started after the linesman had dropped the puck and play had resumed. I haven't seen anyone else comment on this. I was screaming at Therrien to complain before the review was complete. So yesterday I wrote to C'mon Ref! and Fraser answered me.
