  1. Touchy, touchy. You know decaf tastes just as good. I calmed myself down by reminding myself that nothing we did last night had any effect on who and when we play in the playoffs. Players have a short memory when it comes to these things and so should we.
  2. New Jersey had something to play for and we did not. No point in getting upset about it. Gainey and the boys have a lot to work out before the playoffs, though. Alot!
  3. So much for carrying momentum into the post season. Yikes what a comeback. New Jersey is super hot. I'd hate to be the Rangers meeting them in the opening round.
  4. This isn't about mic'd players, but it is about RDS. I'm wondering if RDS will be showing the Habs playoff games? Anybody...any idea....
  5. The Senators are ripe for the picking. A team as quick as the Habs can really build up some playoff momentum with a first round victory.
  6. I won't speculate on the outcome of the Montreal/New Jersey game. As far as the Habs play is concerned, I'm just not thinking straight right now. However, I do see Florida having a great chance against Atlanta on Tuesday. Florida has been very good down the stretch and it will be Atlanta's second game in as many nights. Also, Luongo will play outstanding because he wants Montreal to grab some playoff revenue so they can afford to pay him when he's dealt our way in the off season. (How's that for speculation).
  7. We need help. New Jersey has our number. We need help. We need somebody other than us to choke late in the season. Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable. I can't believe after eight straight wins and challenging for sixth we that we need help to make the playoffs.
  8. The Habs could use some more size, but I hope it is not Bertuzzi. It would cost us too many prospects and too many dollars. I'd rather see the Habs make a pitch for Jason Arnott.
  9. 44 saves against a big team. Shall we now discuss my theories on the 'fake' moon landings.
  10. I've got a theory. David A. played well in the loss to Carolina. Most of the Habs forgot to show up that night and left him high and dry on most of the 5 goals he gave up. He was terrible in both games against Pittsburgh. My theory. David plays better against better teams. I know it is a reach, but I suspect if the rest of the team shows up against Ottawa we'll pull out a 4-3 decision. Just a theory. I also believe man has yet to walk on the moon, so take it for what it is worth.
  11. Kovalev looks like market value this season, but when he is making 4.5 million at age 36 he may not look like such a bargain. $2 million per year for two seasons is far from massive. Besides, what other choice do we have. Danis and Price aren't ready and Aebischer scares the heck out of me. Based on Huet's play this season $2 million per season for two seasons is a bargain even if he turns out to be the next Steve Penney. I didn't use Theo in this analogy because a bad half season is no reason to write off his career. If he tanks next season then I'll call him a bum, but not until. Peace.
  12. Huet is 30. Because he isn't exactly a spring chicken his time for a big pay day is right now. I see him holding out for a multi-year deal and big, big, bucks. Because of his age his loyalty is to himself. This may be his only chance for a big contract and someone is going to give it to him. Gainey's history suggests he will offer at least $4 million over 2 years. The reason - free agents don't think of Montreal as their first choice to sign. That's why Gainey had to overpay (slightly) for Kovalev, Koivu, Dandenault. He may even get a bigger offer from Bobsled. Even at that amount Huet still may be the biggest bargain in hockey.
  13. If you break this ritual and the Habs lose, you will hate yourself. Continue, continue, continue. Myself, I've managed to miss the first half of the first period of the last four Habs wins. Coincidence? I'm not taking any chances. RDS isn't getting tuned in until at least 9 p.m. Atlantic time on Thursday. Shoot I think I just stepped on a crack.
  14. I think this year's fan base is simply confused. At several times during the season the Canadiens look like a legitimate Stanley Cup contendor, while at other times they resemble a team destined for last place. The booing at the Phone Booth (AKA Bell Centre), this season, is probably born of the frustrations that surround an inconsistent team. I am overly positive about this team, but even I was tempted to boo during their 2-1 home ice loss to Tampa last week. Instead, I cursed out loud at a group of fans trying to make it back to their seats while the play was going on. I took my frustrations out on them.
  15. Hey guys, I intentionally didn't post last night because I was too damn angry. Now that I'm thinking clearly I'm still too damn angry, but here goes anyway. My guess is that you, me, the 21,000 strong in the Bell Centre and the entire Habs bench said 'What the ?' when Abby was given the nod. No matter how management tries to rationalize it sitting your MVP candidate in back to back games makes little sense. We scored four goals Saturday - big deal. We had 20 quality scoring chances, maybe more. Prognosis, if our forwards played the game in front of a giant harbour they couldn't.....well you know. Too many passess down low. Just shoot the biscuit at the basket. The hit that took Bouillon out wasn't an intent to injure but it sure as heck should have been an interference penalty. Speaking of penalties, we still take too many hooking calls. Crying to refs on the way to the box can't be helping us get future breaks, either. What a bunch of cry babies we are cheering. The entire officiating community must hate doing our games. Finally, and some what positively, how great is it that we can lose three straight at home and still be in a playoff position. The East is Least. Thanks to all who made it this far, Greggie . Ooow, one addition. Does anyone else wonder if Saku is insulted by the AIM Trimark investors commercial they run the shit out of on TV. 'No one builds Vinter tires like us Fins.' - Fin tire guy. 'That's because no one but you Fins needs winter tires 12 months out of the year.' - short sighted investor. Come on, you know you thought about it. It might explain his scoring slump
  16. Gillette told TSN during owners meetings earlier in the season that it didn't matter if the cap went up. He said the team could barely afford the current cap. We'll have to make due on a paltry 39 million bones. Sorry, I don't have a link, just a good memory.
  17. Just a couple of quick thoughts: Bulis deserves a raise (small) - very versatile. If not, Rangers take him in a second. Huet deserves a massive raise. There are too many teams out there with goaltending holes - tampa, vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, etc, etc, etc. If we don't sign him there will be a long line for his services. If we low ball him early in negotiations you can be sure these team will not after July 1. As for free agents, Gainey is a fan of Jason Arnott, who is currently having a career year in Dallas. If anybody is coming here, it is Jason Arnott. We would be smart to add this big guy to our current crop of small, but speedy forwards. Just my opinion. Please refrain from thowing anything until the end of the show.
  18. I'm sensing a lot of people are worried that Theodore will regain his form in Colorado. The fact is that it doesn't matter if Theodore regains his form. We now have Huet who has played as well as anybody in the league this season. Should he falter, Abischer will pick up the pieces, but I don't expect him to falter. The future also looks promising with the drafting of Carey Price. I think we are set in goal for some time. Therefore, I say thanks to Theodore for carrying us in your good days and good luck in Colorado. Now, lets get Huet locked into a two year deal (at least).
  19. Are we sure it is Weinrich? Sean Hill in Florida is a former habs that would fit our No. 5 or No.6 role. However, I'm not sure how close Hill is to retirement. Weinrich has hinted at retirement in the past. Wait a minute, I just answered my own question. It must be Weinrich they are trying to aquire.
  20. What's this crap about Koivu laughing when he was asked about Theo's injury? That's horse crap. I saw the interview and he did no such thing. He said something very brief about Theo's struggles and hoped he came back soon. There was no laughing or even a smirk. Sheesh.
  21. Actually that is the first break he's caught all season. Ha. OOW. I'm going to H-E-double hockey sticks.
  22. I heard that too. They said 6-8 weeks. What a nightmare season for Theodore.
  23. I'm not sure we should trade Theodore at this point in the season. The team already has paid most of his salary and cap number for this season. Taking his current struggles into account we will get next to nothing for him in any trade with any team. I think we should hold on to him at least until the end of the season. I don't see any rush in trading him for next to nothing. Huet is playing better than almost every other goaltender in the league right now, so we certainly don't have goaltending problems. The team, in turn, is rallying for a playoff spot around Huet's exploits. Watch for the Canadiens to play Jose strictly on the road in some of their final 25 or so games to see if he can find his form in an environment with slightly less stress than Montreal. If he finds some or all of his former self during this time Gainey can make an informed off season decision on his status with the team.
