  1. Nice sig Shu. Obligatory - GO HABS GO!!!!!! I want to see that awful logo on Miller's chest completely scuffed with puck marks by the end of this one. And putting a couple by him would be good too. OTT is just gettin pounded by TOR tonite. Ouch.
  2. There's too many teams already. It's diluting the talent pool for the game. I say no more franchises and move the failing ones in the States back to Canada.
  3. T-1 DAY!!!!!!!!!! (we made it) :hlogo: :hlogo: :hlogo:
  4. #9 - Full Metal Jacket or Platoon # 1 - (looks like an animated film) # 6 - French Connection
  5. *******GOES WILD WITH JOY*********** Good luck Ribs.
  6. Apparently some highway overpass has just collapsed in Laval today with cars both riding on the collapsed section and beneath it. Sounds like it's related to poor highway maintenance or construction. Heads are gonna roll on this one.
  7. Does anyone see a glut of forwards in our system? I mean, seriously, sending Kosty and Grabs back down. Looking ahead, I don't see many openings in the system because our oldest guy is Kovalev at 33. We should gamble and make a trade for a defenceman. Let's live a little. My first target would be the Blackhawks. They are LOADED with D-men and have nothing behind their first line. Aucoin, Seabrook, Cullimore, Barker, Keith, Vandermeer and Kukkonen. We should be trying to pick one of these guys up. Unless of course Traverse is the answer.....
  8. I think you'll enjoy this webpage. http://www.fuh2.com/
  9. I totally agree with getting people onto public transport, their bicycles etc. But even with gas at 5/gallon, I think you'd meet some resistance. People in North America need a philosophical boot to the head before they'll hand over their cars.
  10. Well, gas here is about 80 cents a litre at the moment which comes out to about 3.00/gallon. Obviously, a big discrepancy between the US and Canada. From what I remember, it's always been this way and I'm sure part of it is that taxes are higher here (no big surprise) and part of it probably has to do with lobbying groups which I assume to be more powerful in the States. But on the other hand, we could be living in the UK where gas is almost 3 times as expensive. The Foothills.
  11. Off the Deerfoot, just south of McKenzie Town. It will open as a clinic in 2009 and gradually expand thereafter.
  12. Jeez, guys... all I was saying was that it hasn't always been rosy for Alberta. I was just trying to dissuade a popular belief that's not entirely true. But since you brought it up.... Why should I care about oil? Well, first off I'm not sure that I do really care for the industry. Living in Cowtown, I see the Porsches, the Mercedes', the Ferraris driving in my hood everyday. And they're all driven by talentless business hacks who try to give you the impression that it takes actual talent to sell something that pops out of the ground and sells for 70+US/barrel. It's a little maddening at times. But on the other hand, oil pays for a lot of trickle down benefits. As a doctor, I can say that Alberta has much better healthcare than Quebec, the Maritime provinces, Ontario and probably the rest of the country as a whole. That's simply because the tax revenue from the oil industry is massive, absolutely massive, and the population as a whole benefits. It's also paying for the massive infrastructure that Alberta is creating right now. As for closing hospitals, don't get me started. For this, King Ralph is public **** #1 in my mind. This city has only 3 hospitals for a million people and we're extremely busy and I'm usually up all night when on call. The 4th is being constructed but is way overdue. As for high oil prices.... I don't think anyone can attribute this to one individual. To do so would be very conspiratorial. Look around the world, gas prices in Canada are relatively cheap.
  13. Nope, Mulroney took the program apart. The Alberta Premier at the time, Peter Lougheed, fought Trudeau's program tooth and nail and forever endeared himself to Albertans.
  14. As far as I know, Ralph never did anything to harm the welfare or quality of life of for Ontarians. You may not like him, I don't even like him, but I think we're comparing apples and oranges.
  15. Ohhhh....not so fast PTG. Your personal hero set Alberta back 20 years as he left office with the National Energy Program. It capped the price at which Canadian oil could be sold and absolutely devastated Alberta. People here were losing their jobs left, right and centre. They were walking away from their homes and mortgages and moving to wherever they could find work. It stole billions in Alberta's natural wealth. And he basically did it so that Ontario and Quebec would remain the powerhouse in the Canadian economy. Mention the name Trudeau around anyone who lived in Calgary at that point in time and you're bound to get an awful reaction.
  16. This is kind of fun actually. Like Seamonkeys for adults. I'm in the midst of trying to decide if I should run my country (Attlantica) into the ground purposely or do what comes naturally and discover how bad I'd be at politics.
  17. ARRRRRRRRRGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***slits wrists*** I can't take it anymore.....being a Habs fan - it's always up and down, why can't we get 20 wins in a row like we deserve ***gouges out eyes*** Don't they realize that I'm forced to be a hockey fan by fate? Can't they make my suffering any better? ***hangs noose around neck*** P.S. Maybe some of our Habbies realize that after a couple of years in the league that the idea of preseason is for the young guys to bust their guts while the older guys try to take it easy and avoid injury.
  18. Hehe. There was a band from Vancouver named Zumpano at one time. They put out this T-shirt that had a toy fire truck on the front and "Makin' girls cry since '92" on the back. I took the slogan to heart. 21? Well. It's Carbo's number.
  19. Well... that sucked no other way to say it. But at the same time, our lineup is pretty much set as Carbo leaked before the pre-season. I don't know much about the Leafs but I imagine there are a lot of spots open on the roster. In that light, there would be a clear difference in motivation between the two clubs, clearly in the Leafs favour. Let the regular (read: real) season begin.
  20. T-14 days.... this would be so much easier with a countdown clock
  21. Canada's laffing stock of a franchise is looking at Petr Bondra. If that's not a sign of desperation, I don't know what it is. And Glen Healy, you can l**k my sweaty nads.
  22. It was a rhetorical question. These guns would be included on the registry. Harper has specifically stated that he wants to leave long guns (i.e. hunting rifles) off the registry while including assault weapons. Therefore, Harper's mandate has nothing to do with Dawson college. It may be smuggling, it may be better surveillance of fringe web sites but Harper's not the enemy on this issue (as much as the Toronto-centric media in this country would like you to believe).
