  1. I was there tonight and I was really impressed with what I saw. I had heard that he was slow and had a bad camp so far, but I didn't see any of that tonight. Good two-way player. Already defensively ready for the NHL but needs to improve is offense a little, is skating a little and faceoffs. Good prospect. Lets see what he does in the juniors and at the WJC this year.
  2. I wasn't talking about a trade, there's no way Ottawa would trade Redden to the Habs. I was talking about next year if he becomes a UFA at the end of the season. I don't think Ottawa as the $$$ to sign Chara and Redden. They also have Havlat who will be more expensive next year. Not that I think we will get him, I was just mentionning that he's the guy I would like to get. Great player and leader. Good skating skills, good offensive and defensive sens and plays physical. He's also young (28). As everything to be a great D in the new more open NHL for the next 5-6 years.
  3. If he becomes a UFA next year, I would really take Redden on the team. He would change this team into a real contender.
  4. I agree. I don't think that Dagenais is in the Habs futur plans. I'm sure that either Latendresse or Perezhogin will start the season with Ribs and Ryder. Latendresse played with them the entire camp so far and apparently him and Ribs are really connecting well. As for Dagenais, I think is more of a bench warmer and good backup for injuries, nothing more. I'd rather develop one of our promising young guys then see Dagenais. I think the Habs will make them self known this year as the up and coming powerhouse of the NHL and next year, we will kick everybody's asses. I think that Gainey will make a couple of trades by the next season to solidify our defense by trading some of our young offensive prospects, as we have too many of them (Latendresse, Perezhogin, Higgins, Plekanec, Kostitsyn, Chipchura, Hossa). I personnaly would keep the first 3 (Latendrese, Perezhogin & Higgins) and wouldn't mind trading any of the other guys. We also hane Danis that could eventually be traded. I'm telling you guys, we are 1 or 2 seasons away from being in the top 3 teams of the league.
  5. I'm going to Sunday's game vs. the Trashers and I will be seated in the red section...I can't wait!!!! Sucks that Latendresse won't be in the lineup, I wanted to see him play, at least Higgins and Perezhogin will be there. I will let you know which young guys did well.
  6. You're right. My guess is the Habs are trying to smother the story as best as they can. Who needs bad publicity and another stupid useless story about an armless gesture when the camp is starting. I sure am fed up of the journalists in Montreal. Always trying to stir up shit for nothing. Can we please concentrate on hockey for once. Who cares what is does off ice!!!! We should be talking about the team, the young players who might make the team, including future super start Latendresse. On the Latendresse topic yesterday, a lot of people wrote that he should go back to the juniors (I mentionned that we should see what he does vs. NHL players and give him a shot if he does well) but now even Gainey as mentionned that there are spots open for young players, including Latendresse. Gainey said to wait and see how he performs over the next few weeks, but that t was a possibility. To quote Gainey: "We will strat the season with the best players that perform the best during the camp, no matter their age or salary". Told ya Latendresse had a shot at making the team this year.
  7. It would be nice, but I think a lot of teams will be interested in Richards and we will have to give more then Ryder to obtain Richards, who in my opinion is the best player in Tampa Bay. Not as flashy as Lecavalier and St-Louis but more complete and more efficient. Probably one of the best two-way players in the league. I would take him to replace Koivu anytime. I like Koivu, but we can't have both at their salaries and Richards is a better player, younger and less injury proned. I doubt it, but I sure would like to have him next year.
  8. No. He's only 25 and free agency is either at 27 or after 7 years in the NHL. Since he's 25 (born in May 1970) and only has 1 year in the NHL, he will be a UFA at the end of next season.
  9. Rick Green and Timmins mentionned that he improved his skating so much over the summer (practiced power skating drills all summer) that his skating is now NHL caliber. Not the fastest obviously, but (I'm quoting Green here) good enough to get to the borads and deliver timely powerful bodychecks, go around Dman to crash to the net and perform to is style of play. The guy will never be a fast skater, all he needs is to have enough speed to crunch guys in the boards and crash to the net, and he already has it. I say lets wait and see how he does at the camp vs. NHL caliber players. I agree that it is a very long shot, but you never know. If the Habs think he as a chance, who are we to criticize their opinions, I think they know more about hockey and the way he performed last week then we do. Besides, there's nothing wrong with trying him out and sending him back to the juniors if it doesn't work out. What if he turns out to be good and as the impact on the team like Bergeron did in Boston. Can we afford to not give him a chance if he deserves it, I don't think so. I remember a certain Luc Robitaille that supposedly didn't have good enough skating abilities and look what he turned out to be. You never know what a guy will do unless you try him out and give him a chance. Look at Ryder, if it wasn't for Claude Julien giving him a chance, he probably wouldn't even be on our roster anymore.
  10. Melanson said he was impressed that Price as assimilated so quickly what he has thought him so far. He said that he has a lot of talent and the head to become a good one. Price finished the camp with a 2.50 GAA and a 0.919% save pourcentage in 2 games. That's pretty good for is first time at a NHL camp for a 18 year old goaler, everyone knows that it takes them more time to develop. For Latendresse, yes I was talking about making it to the NHL this year. I said that I seriously doubted it, but you never know, its not like it never happened before. I know its wishful thinking, but I would love for him to make it and be good. Wouldn't be awesome to watch him crunch people for 82 games and score 20-25 goals.
  11. It would be a great checking line, but it wouldn't be to good for Latendresse's offensive development. I say either top 2 lines are back to the minors to dominate. I don't want him to waste is time on the 3rd or 4th line to play defensively. I have my serious doubts about him kaking it, but if he does and is great, that could make the Habs a very dangerous team this year.
  12. Please Beckham come back down to reality. You're the only one in the entire world that thinks that Houle was a great GM. In fact, its the first time I ear anybody say that he was not a disaster, never mind him being great. I don't know what your smoking out there in BC, but it sure is great stuff!!!
  13. I say lets see what he does at the big camp and in preseason games against the other teams and lets take it from there. I agree that we have to be careful not to burn him out but if he does really great in the camp, why not give him a shot? Bergeron did it. It takes a strong headed kid to make the jump to the big league and maybe he's that kind of kid, what do we really know about him? Nothing. But if he is capable of making the jump, I say go for it. I would see him with Ribeiro and Ryder. He could be much better than Dagenais. Probably as dangerous offensively but with more grit, more great body checks and I doubt he could do worse defensively then Dagenais. I trust the Habs will do the right thing.
  14. For Dandenault and Markov, I agree that Markov is much better but please don't compare the salary of a UFA with the one of a RFA that as no leverage. It doesn't make any sens. I agree that 1.7M$ per year is a little expensive, but not that much. As for Kovalev, wait and see, he will blow you away this year. Also, please don't compare players talent as a prorata of their salaries, it doesn't make sens either. Of course Kovalev is not 10 times better than Czerkawski, but that's not how it works. You have to pay a premium on star quality players because they are wanted by all teams and play more ice time. You think that Iginla is 17 times better than Czerkawski? I don't thnik so. I could give you thousands of example like that. If Kovalez gives us 4 seasons of 30+ goals, it will end up being a very good acquisition, but only time will tell. Gainey is doing a fine job considering the team in inherited from Houle the idiot and I think that the post before mine kind of says it all about Houle as a GM....worst ever in Habs history. What a fiasco it was naming Houle as GM & Tremblay as headcoach.:wall:
  15. LOL...now you're really making a fool of your self. Serge Savard was bitter after he got fired, so he decided to not come back to hockey himself, not because he wasn't considered by other teams. By the way, he preferred handling is business affairs and he's now a multi millionaire, so I guess he made the right choice. Also, we won 2 cups with that "fat drunk with the giant turd sized cigar popping out of his face", so be respectful of the man. As for Houle (nicknamed Peanut in Montreal because he looked like an idiot and managed the team like an idiot), you are actually praising the man that traded: 1) Roy for Thibault, Kovalenko and Rucinsly...what a trade that turned out to be. 2) Turgeon for Corson...what a trade that turned out to be. 3) Damphousse for a 2nd and 5th pick...what a trade that turned out to be. Please, when a GM wanted to get rid of some junk or acquire a good player without giving good players in return, Houle was the man to call. As for André Savard, he's still around because is excellent for scouting. He's the man behind the Nordiques and the Senators and all their great draft picks. Your comments always go opposite of what everybody else thinks and often don't make sens, I'm starting to realize that your only doing this to stur shit around, at least I hope for your sake.
  16. I agree that Czerkawski could be a good risk (although its a very long shot and I doubt it), but please don't compare him to Kovalev, you're insulting our hockey knowledge here. Talent wise, they are worlds apart. As for not being used in Montreal, do I need to remind you that he was used at the beggining (led the NHL in points at the end of the training camp) but only is mediocre play made him lose playing time to the point of being sent down to Hamilton. As for Kovalev, I bet you'll be telling everyone how great he is and what a great addition he was after he scores 30+ goals this year. As for comparing their points per game, please use statistics when there is enough games played so that the stats do mean something. I think its obvious that comparing Czerkawshi's 49 games to Kovalev's 10 games doesn't make sens. Also, as for getting twice the ice time, do I need to remind you that Kovalev was put on the 4th line at the end of the season. I have never seen you write anything positive about the Habs, why do you spend your time criticizing them? What a fan you are!!!
  17. I agree. Savard is good for scouting and he started to improve our team with the draft, but he was terrible as a GM for contract negociations. Brisebois and Rivet's contracts were disasters. He's better off where he is now. To add on the Bonk - Garon trade, I still can't believe we got Bonk for an unproven goalie that is 27 years old and only played 43 games in the NHL. On top of it, the Habs had sent him to the minors a few years ago and he had to clear waivers and nobody picked him up, so get Bonk in return, all I got to say is WOW!!!
  18. That would be hilarious, because all 3 signed for peanuts so it would mean that: 1) Czwekawski does as well as in Montreal (5 goals in 49 games) 2) Lindros gets is 100th concussion 3) Allison gets hit solid and gets whiplash again It would be awesome!!!
  19. They got rid of old wood. Richards and Carter are the type of players who could step up in the NHL the way Patrice Bergeron did. They had an amazing road from juniors to WJC to AHL playoffs.. and now probably on the NHL. Hatcher, Rathje, Therien: 3 big towers Pitkanen, Johnsson, Desjardins.. good mobile/offensive dmen Esche has good stats with Philly so far. With Forsberg-Gagné on first line, 3 good centers.. they can do damage And now Forsberg and Hatcher are injured and will be missing most of the training camp...LOL!!! Hatcher could even be out longuer... I said it in my previous post, no way Forsberg will last a whole season... One big tower down, only 2 left to skate around like orange cones... As for Richards and Carter, yes they are good prospects but what Bergeron did is extremely rare and exceptional. I don't think that these 2 will do same, at least not both of them. Also, they can't replace 4 or 5 guys by themself (Amonte, recchi, Leclair, Zhamnov...). Be realistic and trust me on this one, the Flyers are way over rated!!!
  20. ...and even then, how about their goaltending? Esche is still not a proven starter in my eyes. Also there is always the probabibility factor of ever goalie in their organization going insane under Clark. Wouldn't be the 1st, or 3rd time that happened. I agree, see my last posting on Eastern Conference predictions to see why I think they are over rated.
  21. I agree with you that there not as great as everybody seems to think, but the only team that can beat them in their division is the Devils and I think the Flyers will finish ahead of them. New Jersey 1) lost Niedermayer and Stevens ( 2 great D) 2) sign Mogilny at 3.5M$ ??? 3) Elias as Hepatitis A and will miss a good portion of the season 4) they are presently 5M$ over the cap, so will have to get ris of some valuable players 5) They are max out (and even over) for the cap Really not all that dangerous, but still good!!! Flyers 1) big slow D will hurt with new rules (can't believe Clarke sign Hatcher, Rathje & Therrien, 3 slow moving D? 2) Will Forsberg last all season? doubtful 3) can you really like and trust "Robert can't stop a puck Esche"? I don't. 4) They lost Roenick, Amonte, Leclair, Zhamnov, Makakhov, Recchi !!! and replaced them by Forsberg, Knuble, Hatcher and 2 young unproven players in Richards & Carter !!! 5) They are max out for the cap Really not all that dangerous, but still good!!! If you really look carefully, some teams are not as good as people see them. Also, if Atlanta doesn't sign Kovalchuk, I change my predictions as them definetly not making the playoffs. I don't know why, but I think Kovalev will be awesome this year and will make us finish in a good position. He looked great at the Habs golf tournament and seems really excited about playing for Montreal and its great fans. You can tell that being away from the pathetic Rangers made him appreciate hockey again, especially with the lock-out (he said he didn't enjoy playing in Russia last year and couldn't wait to come back to the NHL). :hlogo: :hlogo: :hlogo:
  22. I can't see why everybody sees Pittsburgh making the playoffs??? 1) They have the worst defence in the entire league 2) Not that I don't think that Crosby won't be good, but he Hasn't prove anything yet and will probably take 1 or 2 years before he becomes a force in the league 3) Lemieux is getting old and he's not the Lemieux from 10 years ago, but yes he's still a good player 4) Recchi is also getting old and he's no longuer the great player he was 5) Leclair's back is finished 6) They have no depth and nobody on their 3rd and 4th line 7) These guys have never played together, so there's no guarantee that there will be chemistry and even if there is, it will take a while Think about it guys, yes they have improved, but not to the point of making the playoffs. 1. Boston 3. Tampa Bay 3. Philadelphia 4. Ottawa 5. Montreal 6. New Jersey 7. Atlanta 8. Florida 10. Toronto 10. Islanders 11. Pittsburgh 12. Rangers 13. Carolina 14. Buffalo 15. Washington
  23. You must also be a fascist redneck to defend beackham and is racist comments. First, I have seen many of your posts and often you have argued Beckham's posts, so don't tell us what to do when you can't even do it your self!!!! Second, Beckham posted racist comments (more then once on top of it) against the people living in Quebec and you want us to say nothing about it??? Third, I have seen many of Beckham's posts and often not agreed with them and never said anything about it, but enough is enough, I had to say something about is racist remarks, there is just no place for that here. Fourth, the purpose of these posts is to exchange ideas and argue with each other in a respectful manner, so don't say that its a waste of pages to argue with each other, that would be going against the hole purpose of this. Fifth, by the way, your comparison with Franz Ferdinand doesn't make any sens??? He may not have to like the other fans, but he sure as hell as to respect the other fans. As a matter of fact, he's supposed to respect anybody. If your a non respectful fascist redneck and approve Beckham's racist comments, then you should stop posting comments here too. I agree when you say that he is entitled to is opinion, as long as it remains respectful of other people!!! Its a shame, I love Bulis and I appreciated many of your posts in the past, but now you've lost my respect, unless your intentions were to state that he is entitled to is opinions and not to defend is racist ramarks. You should watch out who you defend, defending somebody that posts racist comments makes you look like a racist too, which I hope is not the case. As for Beckham, I hope that he will start to be more respectful from now on.
  24. Too bad for Lindros he'll have to play against Komisarek now. And 8 games on top of it. Hope he finally retires the guy with a killer body check!!!
  25. Beckham, you're a disgrace to the great organization that are the Habs...and you call your self a fan???? I agree with ap79, you're nothing more then a fascist redneck. How can you be a fan of the Habs and post disrespectful comments about their #1 pool of fans...the french living in Quebec. I hope that you realize that at the same time you're attacking most of the best players that ever played in hockey, most of the players that revolutionized the game over the years and most of the players that made the Habs the rich in history team that they are. :que::que::que: You say that Kolzig wasn't getting anything out of helping Price like Melanson, but you seem to forget (not surprizing since most of your comments lack logic) that Kolzig is part owner of Price's WHL team and by helping him be a better goaler, that means a better team, therefore more fans and more revenues. You're really an idiot without any logic what so ever!!!! Please, don't post anymore stupid comments...oh wait, that means that you wouldn't be able to post anything anymore..I'm good with that!!! The Habs don't need fans like you and more importantly, the world doesn't need fascist rednecks like you, so please shut up or grow up!!! :hlogo::hlogo::hlogo:
