  1. I saw a rumour on the CBS sports site, stating that he may be available at the right price. The question is, what is that price, and is he worth it? Personally, I like him over Ozolinsh and Souray....
  2. The one thing Chipchura brings that Pleks, and Higgins lack, is SIZE....who's gonna match up against the Sundin's and Thornton's of the league? Plus, as the last post mentions, we're not gonna win a cup this year, or next....so why give away the futur for a chance at the second round of the playoffs, when we can keep building, and take a solid run at the cup in a few years.....
  3. Gonna have to agree, although he's made some questionable moves (keeping Hossa over Dagenais is the most recent that bothered me), I think he's done quite well so far...
  4. Something tells me that if they try to bring Hainsey back, he'll get picked off waivers....seeing as how the re-entry waivers cause the former team to pay 50% of the players salary....
  5. I think we've got all of the guys that would make a difference from Hamilton on our roster already, so we're gonna have to work with what we've got. And as most have said, we're sitting at 13-5-2-1, which isn't too bad, and we did get there somehow, so if we just sit back, I'm sure the powers that be will figure this all out. The one question I do ask myself often is, where is this offensize upside to Dandenault? In the preseason he was joining the rush all the time, and yet now, the only time I notice him is when he highsticks someone at a critical point in the game.....
  6. Milroy's thicker, but Lapierre is longer. Anyway, with the Habs new policy ("no more fans in the showers"), we'll never be able to confirm. Funny guy.....I figured that might come from my comment.... but on a more mature note, I just ment in the sense of him getting pushed around in front of the net..... I guess my open ended comment deserves that though... Yeah, sometimes I make a post purely for my own amusement. This was one of those times. To answer your question seriously, in what little I've seen, I have been impressed with Milroy, and perhaps he received consideration as well. I can't comment on Lapierre, because I don't really remember seeing him (I've only watched a couple of games, though). No worries..... I don't mind getting hit with a joke once in a while!

  8. What about Duncan Milroy? How's he doing? From what I can remember, he'd be a good fourth line checker type. I also remember him being thicker looking than Lapierre at training camp.
  9. Only thing I noticed was the missing H in Perezhogin, other than that, it looks great!
  10. Not even close....Kovalev is much more able to take control of a game than Zed is.....but that being said, both players are pretty high up on the depth chart....
  11. If the league can manage to hold onto these 'new' rules for the entire season, I think we'll make the playoffs quite easily. However, the big question on my mind, is will they enforce all of these rules in the post season? Will we run into a bigger team that just runs us over? Similar to the Leafs and Sens rivalry where the Sens are more talented but somehow the leafs just beat them into submission a few years in a row?
  12. I think KomiSARUS was a play on him being a big and strong like a dinosaur....not necessarily a misspelling....
  13. New power rankings released, and show the habs as #5....not bad....rankings appear to be fairly accurate...leafs are 18th..... http://www.sportsline.com/nhl/story/9031533
  14. Although off to a slow start, Ribeiro appears to have found his groove...he seems to be skating a lot harder, and holding the puck a lot longer....good signs for a play maker.... As for Bonk, his role is to shut down the opposition. We have a plethera of guys who can put the puck in the net, and Bonk knows that. his role is to keep the other teams top line from scoring so that Saks and the boys can focus on offence.
  15. I think Gainey's signing of most guys to 1yr deals was great....gives him time to evaluate them in the new NHL before deciding which guys he'd like to keep! Something tells me Dagenais will be going the way of the Dodo... Koivu on the other hand should be signed to at least a 3yr deal so that he can be here for our cup in the Habs 100th season!
  16. LOL....IVNANANS??? if you're gonna correct someone, at least double check your spelling!
  17. Actually, there are rules regarding the movement of players to and from the minors. A player with 3yrs or less of Professional Experience (NHL, AHL, etc) can be transfered without a problem. However, should a player, like Dagenais or Vandermeer, have more than 3yrs of experience, they have to clear waivers before being sent down, and again clear waivers before being recalled. Should they be claimed off of waivers, the team losing the player is responsible for 50% of the salary. Bochensky doesn't meet the 3yr requirement, he therefore did not have to clear waivers. As you said... "read the rules"
  18. I have to agree that seeing Komi level players in our corners must get the team charged up, and put some fear in the opposing players.... I just think he needs to improve his food speed before he can be considered a top defenseman....
  19. Why are people wondering if Perezhogin will be in the line up? Did he get hurt in last nights game???
  20. Just goes to show you how little class that organization has.
  21. The biggest hole on that second line was lack of speed. They have a strong guy in Ryder, who can stand in front of the net, or move bodies. Ribeiro can work the puck better than most, but no one could carry the puck into the offensize zone without losing it, and neither of them were fast enough to recover the dump and chase. Zednik adds the ability to gain the offensize zone, while keeping puck possesion. I think this will be a fantastic addition to the second line, giving us two strong, well balanced scoring trios. The only question I still have is, where does Plekanec go?
  22. We also have to remember that most guys who are used to being the #1 dman, as he was in switzerland, have a tough time adjusting to only playing 5-10 minutes per game. I think we need to give him some time, and when/if we experience some injuries, and he gets more time, then we can really start to see what he's capable of.
  23. Islander is referring to the fact that he grew up in Long Island....nothing to do with the hockey club...... Also, I've heard he was at Team USA's summer Olympic practices....any truth to this rumour?
  24. His biggest weakness from what I can see, is his innability to skate this season.....I remember in seasons past, that he could move much better than he is now. He's also not controlling the puck as well as I had expected. Will be interesting to see if when Zed returns, and if Pleks keeps playing well, if he'll somehow get bumped to the 4th line.
  25. I think they should bring back the O Fortuna remix. They played it a few years back, the first time we beat Boston in the first round of the playoffs....they'd put it on as the players came out for the 3rd period....with the electricity running around the 'screen ring'.....it was pretty solid for a pump up song! It's currently being restyled for that Rickards Red Commercial.... Also, Goal Song, bring it back! I remember walking down the streets downtown after the game, and crowds of people were chanting this song! [Edited on 10/19/2005 by Makh2o]
