  1. Mod Edit - Personal insults are not tolerated.
  2. Stubbs is a total butt kisser. I gave up reading him when he wrote glowing articles about Scott Gomez and Jacques Martin during the 11-12 disaster. Two of the worst things to happen to the Habs the last 10 years
  3. No he isn't. ,And last I checked, offense is pretty important,as is not taking stupid penalties.Regardless there are many other players i'd rather see in that role
  4. Pitt has Orpik and Engelland that play similar styles. To say he isn't an NHL quality d-man is laughable, especially when you look at our group. And Markov's defense resembled a turnstyle last year,he can't turn and has no speed. He was overplayed as far as his TOI is concerned. i will reserve full judgement though on this year,as it takes two years to recover from his surgeries. As for Fistric: I'd like to see him in a Hab uni,why wasn't he re-signed by the team that desperately needs a physical D-man as much as we do.Saying he'd be a fraction of Murrays price is just not true
  5. My take on this is White wants nothing to do with Therrien and wants to get traded. He has 3 career goals and a couple of injuries sustained by fighting, not great arguments in his favor. And he won't like what the Habs will say to the mediator in their presentation..I liked him alot and would still rather keep him over that old soft journeyman Halpern .His benchings, justified or not,has I'm sure soured him on Therrien
  6. I agree with your last sentence. Morrow is too expensive for the 4th line, but put him on a line that needs someone to go to the net.
  7. To the people that don't like the Parros signing and think we have no size/toughness issues. * “Few teams respected us physically” – Francis Bouillon Bouillon hailed the deal that brought the big man Parros to Montreal. “In our division, which has also Toronto, Boston and Ottawa, it is important to get bigger, to get a player that will give confidence to the many small players,” said Bouillon ” This is a guy that will make the organization respected. I don’t think many teams had respect for physical aspect of our team.”
  8. How many did White,Halpern,Armstrong,Dumont and Moen combine for. Those guys aren't in the league to be snipers. And what they brought to their team was alot more valuable than the 5 Habs i listed. And don't hold your breath on Parros lighting the lamp.
  9. That's like saying we should get rid of Markov, because he is slow and can't play a physical game. There's also more to playing defense than scoring points. People don't agree with others, but there's no reason for someone to be a wise-ass about it
  10. I agree with this post 100%. i just want to see that last forward position up for grabs between Leblanc and other prospects and not a couple of washed up 35 or 42 yo's.I think that Leblanc has some upside to him, like a poor mans Patrice Bergeron.
  11. The problem is their goons can not only all play, but they would all make our team and most any in the league. So does that even make them goons ? I think of goons as Laracque,Parros,Shelly and Scott. Even in TO I don't think of Orr and Mclaren as goons, because they play both edns of the ice,and chip in with a couple of goals. I would gladly take either one of them on the Habs. especially after seeing the way Moen played and the parros acquisitions Those conspiracy theories you read everywhere are just ridiculous
  12. I agree with most what you said. my worry about gally is that he needs to be insulated because of his size and the game he plays. he has a concussion history dating back to juniors. i have no worries about Galch,as long as his minutes are managed and patience is shown.Like you said my concern is the playoffs where the whistles are put away and a more grinding type of play is needed. Especially net front and along the boards which is our weak points on both ends of the ice. Obviously the regular season model is needed to get to the playoffs. we'll disagree about Gainey, maybe because my expectations of him were so high when he got here.
  13. IMO the fix is in Hamilton and our prospects. I feel that enough will pan out so all we need is a short term solution. How good and fast Emelin recovers is maybe the biggest concern.
  14. I'm lobbying heavy for Stewart. Clarkson's contract is way too much.Wouldn't touch that Even the total optimists would say we're too small up front including our own GM. This is the first post contradicting that. I would like to see Beaulieu get Diaz position on the bottom pair
  15. Drewiske is the softest and most useless big bodied Hab D-man since Patrick Traveres. And watching Boullion, who is all heart, bounce of large forwards is embarrassing. PK,Emelin,Tinordi,Beauleau,is a great top 4 for the future. With 2 of Dietz,Thrower Pateryn or Ellis in the wings Markov is still a question mark as the 2nd year off his injuries will show if he's just a pp specialist with offensive skills.I would love to see Gorges and his ridiculous contract and Diaz moved replaced short term by Murray and/or Fistric
  16. It's called balance. We don't have a dman that can clear the crease or win a puck battle. And then you have Diaz that will give the puck up to avoid contact. murray isn't great, but is desperately needed for this pathetically soft defence. Every year we've bowed out of the playoffs is because we couldn't handle the front of the net.Boston twice,Philly twice and Ottawa.
  17. Most would agree that the final 4 appearance was as much as anamoly as the #28 finish. That was Halak's and cammi heroics. You can praise gainey til your blue in the face but he sucked as a GM.he didn't pick up a single player that played the way he does. And the way he put price above the team was bizarre, but that's old news and I'm so glad he's gone
  18. I don't see this "strong forward corps". I see some prospects that may or may not pan out,and I see 5 out of our top 9 5'10 and under, and I see two of the rw's on the downside of their career.Like bergie says,we need balance
  19. Sorry but Montreal is not a great enough UFA destination for Bergevin or any Gm to be able to pull a mythical stunt like that. That happens for either a player who wants a chance at the cup (not here), a low tax burden (not here) or a a better climate. You can't believe everything Bergie says. Mara got offered nothing, nowhwere else. Where did he play after his last year in MTL ?
  20. Wow, where do we hang the banner for losing in game 7 of the 1st rd. How about next to the Maple Leafs banner for losing in ot game 7.And 1 final 4 appearance in 10 years. Yippee.
  21. Wendel Clark deserved as much respect, on ice ,as any player I've ever seen. Just because he played for a loser organization doesn't mean he's not a winner. One player can't win a cup.And the FA rules weren't so liberal back then so he was stuck Teams that win get respect.Outside of Montreal 99% of players and fans respect Chara, Lucic and the Bruins for example, and I do to even though I hate them
  22. Love his heart and would rather see him than Halpern. But I'd rather see us get a Steckel type in that spot
  23. I did in "State of the Habs" along with Fistric. A poster replied that he was sick and tired of those type of posts. He must have be happy with the Boullion,Diaz,Weber,Drewiske and Kaberle grouping
  24. At 42 he ran out of gas in a shortened season. I'd rather give Leblanc and others a shot at that position. Plus we need goal scorers not playmakers
