Hey, did Houle make any good trades when he was GM? Or were they all bad? Did he make any good draft picks?

Good soldier, horrible general.

the muller-schneider trade for Turgeon-malakov was pretty good, since Muller was in decline. At the time i was hoping the habs would go after Lafontaine who was rumoured to be available - but ended up having concussion problems shortly thereafter.

if only turgeon with all his skill had even half of mullers heart!

those were serge savard's trades

the only good trade from houle: malakhov for souray-josh dewolfe and a 2nd rounder.

the only good draft year( and a great one it was): 1998

eric chouinard, mike ribeiro, beauchemin, ryder, markov, dwyer.

all of those players played in the nhl.

The Malakhov trade isnt even really Houle's trade. Back then Jacques Lemaire wasnt coaching anymore and had agreed to come back in the Habs fold as an "advisor". Since he knew the Devils like the back of his hand, he probably got the deal done for Houle.

Thibault for Hackett was a decent move...unfortunately, it was a desperate attempt to patch up the Worst Trade in Habs' history.

ITs unfortunate that the worst trades in Habs history have happened in the last 12 years. Bring back Sam Pollack

then you could say the same thing about gainey's garon trade. it's gauthier who wanted bonk and BG didn't know squat about huet. in the end who's taking the credit or gettins eggs thrown at him, the GM.
