Mark Streit Appreciation Thread

It sure would have been nice to have him already extended. Where's the clairvoyance, Bob? Nah, I'm kidding, but Streit is an important cog in our powerplay. He's not the main man, but he keeps things together. The reason we have such good PP unit is because everyone on the ice is versatile and can pass well.

Streit has played well enough that there is a good chance there will a GM or two who will make him a big offer, like 4 years 14 million. I would hope to sign him for something along the lines of 3 years 7.5 million.

He was always this good, if you saw him on the Suisse team. Damn man he was "THE" man! But it never came out in the NHL. It took so long, but finally he's there. I never gave up hope, but im so glad it finally does. I hope he keeps continuing like this.

1 thing he can become better in, keeping the puck in the attacking zone.

Plus we gotta keep Streit around to maintain our league lead in captains of national teams. We've got three, and Komisarek might be USA captain material in a few years (maybe even as soon as 2010), and maybe even Hamrlik will take over for the Czechs.

Nothing like a little leadership to help build a franchise. Even Chipchura when he makes the team has Leadership characteristics. I really like Komisarek and Higgins too as they lead with their play.

This is a very interesting hockey team.

Yes, keeping the puck in the offensive zone on the powerplay. Also, he has to stop panicking under pressure and he needs to make better decisions with the puck, he sometimes loses his head and makes a dumb play. He's starting to get better under pressure but if he could just fix up his offensive game a bit more, he can become one of the premiere PP specialists/pointmen in the league (in the same class as Markov, even). His defensive game needs some work - this is the facet of the game that really separates Markov from your average puckmoving defenceman - but he is being used as a forward now and should be considered as such. He no longer has to wrestle big power forwards in the corners with Bouillon as his D partner.

There's definitely room for improvement offensively, he's been making better decisions lately but there was a long stretch where you'd often see him just teeing off whenever he could instead of working it to the main threats of our powerplay. But he's still an above average powerplay pointman, most teams would like to have him at that spot.

And while he's a below average defenseman in his own zone due to his lack of physicality, he's an above average defensive forward, with the aforementioned offensive upside. A good guy to have on your fourth line.
