Batmike
Wonder if he plays in Detroit
dlbalr
Welcome to the board. I'm a little surprised that they called anyone up, I thought they may have just went with the six for tomorrow and then brought someone up for Wednesday if Gonchar's still out then. He has the cheapest cap hit of any d-man in Hamilton so there's a good chance this is just for emergency purposes.
Batmike
Thank you! I'd say you're right. I would have like to see Tinordi get another chance, But maybe the AHL seasoning will help for next year.
dlbalr
I'm sure Tinordi will get another look before the year is out. I don't actually think Pateryn plays tomorrow so it's not as if Tinordi's missing out on anything if that's the case. (Hamilton has a Family Day afternoon game tomorrow actually so at least Tinordi will be playing.)
KoRP
Dlbalr, do you think Tinordi will get a few games late in the season with Habs, to have him a bit ready for playoff time?
dlbalr
Dlbalr, do you think Tinordi will get a few games late in the season with Habs, to have him a bit ready for playoff time? I expect he'll get a few games (barring the team capping itself out at the deadline). Whether that's for playoff purposes or not is another story. His play in Hamilton isn't screaming 'must recall' by any stretch. Hamilton's playoff potential may also determine when (and for how long) he gets a look. IN THE HEARTS OF MEN
pateryn was called up because he plays on the right... all of tinordi, beaulieau and emelin do not look good on the right in the the NHL.. both weaver and gilbert in the line up might make us a little to slow and vulnerable in the back. you can almost book it that pateryn might actually get a shot tonight in the line up. A) as a showcase for the deadline and b) he's a michigan hometown boy! I'm tired of all these quebec kids coming into MTL and playing like dynamo's... its time we returned the favour a bit.. Gilbert's a much better skater than Pateryn and Weaver may be as well. Skating isn't one of Pateryn's strengths so him playing isn't going to make the team any faster on the blueline. MT is making a mistake not giving this guy a game tonight.... a big mistake... this is how solid rooms are built

You can fill that void with any word and it will still be correct.
DON
Big mistake to not dress Pateryn...hmmm? Not just a mistake... a big one eh? Why so? Isnt a surprise he is just depth for a game or two and may draw in to a game, or not. Would love to see him instead of Gilbert, but would it really matter much in outcome of game? He was recalled because he has the lowest cap hit of any defenceman in Hamilton to serve as the emergency guy in case someone gets food poisoning from the pregame meal or gets taken out by a flying octopus in warmup. He'll likely get sent down immediately following the game too (and then recalled Tuesday after 5 PM to sit on the bench on Wednesday as well). Where the game happens to be is largely irrelevant. And in terms of building a solid room, I highly doubt anyone else on the team cares that Pateryn happens to be from the area. They'd probably be more upset that a regular gets benched so that some minor league guy from Hamilton can play because he grew up close to the arena.

I want to know a little bit more about that flying octopus, is he available at the dead line or how does that work? Can he score goals?

dlbalr
weaver is no regular. a call up is a call up. One had been on the roster for one day, the other with the team for every day this season. Weaver may not be a regular in the lineup but he most certainly is a regular on the roster and in the room so I'd imagine the other players would have cared more about Pateryn replacing Weaver than Pateryn sitting in the press box in an arena close to where he was born.
