Who's glad we didn't trade Perreault now?

We were full up at centre at one point this season, with Koivu, Ribeiro, Perreault, Juneau, Begin, Kilger and Gratton. Now with injuries to three of those players, we have to look back and say "Maybe BG was thinking ahead".

I wonder if anyone can pull up the stats on the amount of injuries the Canadiens incur between December and the end of January. It might be just me, but the MGLI (Man Games Lost to Injury) will probably be quite high.

Anyway, Plekky the Dinosaur has been recalled, and the effects will be interesting to see. Will he be fed 4th line minutes for X-number of games until Koivu returns? Or will he be allowed to try out other line combinations. I'm not pushing (like some) to have him dubbed our new 1st lien centre. However, Kilger and Langdon aren't the most offensively gifted of linemates.

But I will continue this post later. It is time to return to New Year's festivities.

Happy New Year

No , we should of traded Perreault , still should trade him....

Plekanec did fine in the game last night, was actually pretty impressive despite playing the whole game on the 4th line(minus a shift or 2 in Juneau spot on 3rd line with Dackell and Sundstrom). His play was steady all night long in all zones , he didnt make any errors , always covered his man. Plus he even threw a big hit on Matvichuk which knocked the stars D-man down...

Plekanec is younger , cheaper , faster , better defensively , more intense , and plays with more heart then Perreault. I know who I'd rather have on the team...

I wish Julien would of played Plekanec on the first line for one shift... Or at least on the PP... I mean why not? Give the kid a reward for his strong play , then again he was rewarded with a few shifts on the 3rd line....

Its to bad though , with our depth at centre Plekanec wont have a spot on the team for long , unless of course he switches to wing (Which he can play) , I hope this happens...

(Plekanec's always been a favourite of mine btw)

If he continues to work hard and do what he's expected, his time will come. Look at Ryder. He was a 4th liner for awhile, then he impressed Julien with his stuff, so he got put up top to score some points.

If Tomas plays the way I heard he did (I didn't get a chance to see him, I unfortunately had to work New Years Eve), then Julien will put some faith into him. If there's something CJs shown lately, it's that hard work will get you chances to play bigger minutes and showcase offensive talent. Ryder's strong play this year has taken out Audette's chances of coming back into the lineup. Even Julien said that there's no reason why he'd take out Ryder to put in Audette. It doesn't make any sense, and it would only hurt the team.

Have faith, boys. The youngsters with hearts will always come out on top of the old guys with pacemakers.

Cheers, and Happy New Years to all.

Since he was benched, it seems that Julien has lit a fire under his rear end. I didn't see the Dallas game, but Perrault was playing hard in the Atlanta game. For the first time...possibly ever, I saw Yanic Perrault using his body and not quite hitting, but just leaning on people and working hard in the corners, which is all I'll ever ask of him.

Which is why I beleive Julien allowed him to take the faceoff with a minute or so left. The game before that, Juneau took the late faceoff in the defensive zone, because Perrault is a defensive zone nightmare.

But, if Panic Yanic can keep up this inspired play, I've got no problem with having him on. He's the best faceoff man in the NHL, he's got hands as soft as silk, and he's a great depth person to have. A lot of teams would like to say that Yanic Perrault is their 4th or 5th string center. He can score in bunches on the PP, and if he plays hard, he'll be the perfect role player for our beloved team.

Cheers.

Perreault makes less than 3 millions this year. It's not like we have useless Brind'Amour at 5 millions. 3 millions it's huge but still, if he accepts his lessen role : faceoff guy, less ice time, winger at times, PP specialist, 4th line offensive threat instead of a steady job on 2nd line, he would be a huge part of our (winning) team. But it seems that individual performance are more important for players. :puke:

If he doesn't accept.. then, like Audette.. bebye

I'm not glad Perreault is still here. 2.8M is still a lot of money that could be spent well elsewhere. Draper, for example, is making 1.5M and he brings much more to his hockey club. Truth is, we don't need his scoring because as we've seen, someone else can do it. Dagenais and Ryder have easily replaced him. We don't need his faceoffs that much, its not worth what we're paying him. We don't need him on the fourth line, that line should build momemtum, not kill it.
