  1. Oh crap, you mean i've been looking at this the wrong way the entire time?!?! It's just like golf and you need the lowest amount of points to be the winning?! I'll see myself out...

  2. The 25th and 27th teams are closer to the cup than the 14th will EVER be

  3. I do love our prospect pool, but I also loved the core we had (as I mentioned above)... Bergevin showed how inept he was with the handling of that group. The Habs are worse off with the subtraction of Shaw and the addition of Chiarot. Where is the direction? We all get giddy on free agent days or in year's past deadline days, only to be disappointed once again. In 2017, our g.m went out and traded for Martinsen, Ott, and Dwight King( none of which play in the nhl anymore ), when the only real missing piece this team needed was a top 6 forward, that could bury the puck, from time to time At that very moment, I knew this g.m had no clue what he was doing. Keep eating the bread though; you guys are paying for Bergevin's hypnotizing, tailored fit suits.

  4. Zdeno chara was a top 4 defenceman past the age of 40. Plenty of goalies have been very good past 30, 35... especially one who is elite earlier in his career. Both these players are huge for the leadership of the club and installing a winning culture too. You don't want to be edmonton.

  5. The Devils have done quite a bit to improve this off season. I have not seen a lot of Gusev, but seems to be low return to VGK, petty much what the Habs got for Shaw.

  7. Hahaha. Keep on trying to prove just how bad the habs are, just too funny.

  8. I think Kinkaid is an upgrade on what we saw with Niemi last year. I think Chiarot is better than Jordie Benn. They lost Shaw. They have Weber from the start of the season instead of December. Is that a team not being better... and yes they were a non-playoff team... two points out of a playoff spot and tied for the highest points total ever in a season that didn't make the playoffs. It wouldn't take a big improvement to be a playoff team. Consider we jumped from fourth worst in the league to 98 points in one year based on only a couple of changes.

  9. In terms of the Habs' moves so far - not just the Aho farce - this seems like a fair analysis: https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/analysis/2019/7/13/20686892/montreal-canadiens-front-office-made-quite-few-moves-this-off-season-but-will-they-pay-off-analysis I guess the folks who are Jim Dandy with the Bergevin regime trust that we will receive considerable improvement from within, as guys like KoKo and Meat (and even Drouin) have more experience, and we can add a Poehling or Suzuki to the mix. (They also assume, I guess, that these rookies will fit right in and have strong overall seasons; that there will be no "sophomore slump" from KoKo; etc.; in other words, that everything with our young players will go right). Therefore, it's perfectly OK that the summer moves were classic Bergevin, i.e., "lateral" moves that leave the team no better than it was before. For the grouchier types like myself, it's all a bit head-scratching. Isn't the whole point to improve the team - ? Why is standing pat OK when your team missed the dance last year? I don't really get the complacency. Here we have a GM who has not made a failed team discernably better (at least so far). And the fans are happy as clams. I wonder if the hyperbole of some of MB's critics ("worst GM since Milbury" etc.) has not pushed others into excessive optimism about his merits.

  10. https://www.tsn.ca/carolina-hurricanes-gm-don-waddell-decision-to-match-aho-offer-sheet-was-made-within-two-minutes-1.1343565. I guess this is proof that MB, can't even put together an offer sheet that is a challenge to a team. All he did was play with fans emotions for a few hours, to create a buzz that he wants to improve the team, when all he was doing was proving he is a joke for a GM.

  11. Ok so this got downvote 2x's, I would like to know how people think our team is in better shape than Edmonton or Buffalo? If both these team's get goaltending they can make a run at the cup. I have more faith in Ken Holland wining a cup with Edmonton way before I do with Bergevin wining a cup in Montreal.

  12. closer to a cup than "WE WILL EVER BE" EVER? We can never be as close to the cup as the teams who finished 23rd and 24th in the NHL last season? Really??? EVER? I refer to the STOP THE MADNESS post I made earlier, where the hyperbole is getting out of hand... Bergevin is Milbury... Drouin is a third liner... Sergachev is already a #1 Dman... We will never be closer to the cup then two teams who finished no where close to a playoff spot, and have no goaltending. Both have issues with secondary scoring too. Who is the Sabres #2 Centre? Who are the Oilers wingers after Draisaitl? We will never be better than that? My goodness... What the hell happened to everyone this summer? Where is the rational thought?

  13. Edmonton has had no direction or identity for years now that will change with Ken Holland and Dave Tippett runing things. The same could be said for Buffalo and you can add New Jersey to that mix all they need is to add a goaltender to that mix to put them over the top.

  14. We're NEVER going to make the playoffs again based on the fact those teams are closer to a cup than we will EVER be.

  15. Is the offseason over? Didnt a team just make a trade today? Didnt we make a trade in mid-September last year? Is jake gardiner signed with someone, anyone? Mitch Marner? Patrick Laine? Kyle Connor? Is preseason over? Who made the team? Who didnt? Let's wait til october before we make pronouncements about what the front office did or didnt do.
