  1. I’m just going by the tugboats for battleship comment. What reason is there to trade Caufield for Zegras, other than size? Only reason Caufield was draft as low as he was his is his size. St. Louis never really got a chance in Calgary because of his size. I’m pretty sure they regretted that when Tampa beat them in the finals! We need to add more scoring. You don’t do that by trading away the guy who will probably be leading your team in goals for the next 5 years.
  2. Sure if you know you are actually giving up a tugboat, and are actually getting a battleship. how would have a Martin St Louis for Montreal’s #7 overall pick have worked out at the 2001, before St Louis had his big breakout? Small tugboat St Louis to Montreal, so Tamp could draft the potential battleship Komisarik (or players drafted after him like Rutto, Sjost9rm, Hanif’s, or Hemsky)? I’m sure Tampa’s happy they didn’t trade their tugboat for a potential battleship!
  3. I didn’t notice that you included the ducks’s top 5 pick - high isn’t as big of an overpay. I’d still be hesitant in trading a guy who still looks to be at least a future 40 goal scorer AND has shown signs of becoming a more complete player, for a guy who was drafted higher, but may not be the better player. I think a deal like this could come back to haunt us like the Leclair/Desjardins deal did.
  4. No. It was up to Ronald Corey and Houle being idiots and choosing the drunk Tremblay - who had an issue with Roy from the time he was a rookie. Roy actually did try and stay after he cooled down.
  5. I would NEVER even CONSIDER that. That is a massive overpayment, when Caufield may end up being the better player.
  6. I’m rooting for the two most u likely teams, and also for Roy. Otherwise, don’t care for either of those franchises. have plenty of reasons to not root for the favourites and we’ll, basically every other team😁 Can’t root for Kreider, the Canes, oilers (no too many oilers fan who would be rubbing it in for years and I want the Habs to be the last ad next CDN team to win). Same logic with Canucks and jets. I also want the jets to get knocked out early, so our pick is higher! Leafs - hell no! Ditto with Bruins! Don’t any MB to get a cup with Kings. Too many players pick Florida teams, Dallas and Vegas for the weather and tax advantage - so screw them all! Don’t mind Avs, but they should have taken Allen and given us a third, so screw them! Washington is hopeless and not really a playoff team anyways.
  7. No way we could afford Stamkos without a major overpay on $ and term. Tampa can pay him a lot less than us because of the tax advantage. So even with Marty/Cousin Vinny here, I can’t see Stamkos coming over on a contract that would make sense for us. I also think we are a year away from when it makes sense to sign a major UFA, and I think we’d want someone younger than Stamkos - We are probably 2-3 years away from being able to become a legit contender. It’s too soon to get a guy Stamkos age.
  8. There was a time when I wouldn’t hesitate to cheer for the leafs over the bruins - hated when they started beating us with the Moog-Neely-Bourque teams, and even more so with the Chara (nearly decapitated MaxPac), Lucic (still remembering him taking down Komisarik from behind in a playoff series - he’d probably win in a fair fight anyway, which made it even worse), I also loathe Jack Edwards (glad he is done this year), even more then any of the pro-Leaf TSN/sportsnet/hockey night in Canada turds. If the bruins hadn’t won the year Chara tried to murder Maxpac, I’d probably be rooting for the leafs, so Boston could continue I. Its misery. But that long steak is already over, so I guess id rather have those turds win over the leafs.
  9. Man choosing who to win in this series is like deciding whether you’d rather have cancer or a brain tumour! That said, as much as I hate the bruins, I don’t want to ever see the leafs win anything other than the longest streak without a cup award!
  10. Not sure if I’d want Catton at #5 when there will be at least three other forwards, or two other Right Dmen I’d want over him.
  11. So three guys of these guys never really have the puck -and are usually chasing the play, but hey they have positive +/- ratings. I’ll take Matheson’a negative rating!
  12. Florida picked Guy Lafleur in the expansion draft, and apologized to Pierre page, becuase they didn’t actually want anyone from the Nordiques.
  13. I would have even preferred we brought him up the last few weeks to at least see what he could do at the deadline. Even if it was in Ylonen’s (spit (another useless player this year).
  14. No. If trade him no later than the next trade deadline, unless we are in a playoff hunt next year and he is a main cog. Either way, he should be gone at the end of next year, unless it was for a salary no higher than $1.5m for a 1 yr term.
  15. Frankly, I would have like to have seen Lias Andersson and had the two of them trade spots during the year.
  16. Are you kidding me? I agree with PK - not sure what Dubas is getting paid $7m for??? https://www.instagram.com/reel/C512h0KM1G6/?igsh=bDFsd3J3c3Zxb253
  17. If we could move up to around 8 with sweeteners with the jets pick, AND win the lottery, it would be something to get Celebrini and Iginla.
  18. I’m think it depends on who teams drafting 2 to 4 want. If seen ratings that have Helenius and Parekh in the 4 to 5 position, and as low as 15-16. Similarly, Eiserman and Iginla have been as high as 6-7 and as low as 16-17. If a team picking 2-3, and are really set on Iginla, maybe they trade down. But teams picking in the 2-3 slot that want a guy like Demidov that most ratings have in the 2-3 slot, aren’t going to trade down.
  19. I hope Slafkovsky gets to 20 goals and Caufield to 30. I also hope Suzuki gets to 80 points. Ideally we lose 6-5 in regulation.
  20. Don’t we also have to resign Guhle, or is that the following year? Slafkovsky is eligible for an extension this year as well.
  21. The way Detroit had us hemmed in our zone in the third was ridiculous. I think they hit the post or crossbar around 8 or 9 times during the 2nd and 3rd periods. It really highlighted our weakness on D. Being able to hold leads is dependent on capability, and IMO our D still sucks. I get we were missing Guhle who is probably our best all round Dman, but we still suck on D even with him, and I think we will continue to suck on D until guys like Savard or Kovachavic are used as strictly bottom pairing 6th/7th dman and not playing in the top 4. How far our D progresses is going to depend on the pace that our current young Dmen (Guhle, Harris, Barron, Wifi), continue to progress and whether at least one of Hutson, Reinbacher, Mailloux are viable options as upgrades in our top 4. lastly, having Dach (and hopefully one other acquired scoring threat on the second line should help us not be in trouble as much when a line other than the Suzuki line is out there. we can’t have a lineup where Ylonen, Pezatta, RHP, and Anderson are in the lineup on the same night. I’ll also add that Dvorak also looked like crap last night. We had no answer for Larkin last night and it was pretty impresssive the way Raymond scored the winner after taking some pretty hard hits. If we have an infusion of talent and a substantial upgrade in the middle six (from our roster I think that would only be Dach, Newhook, and Roy), and the Armia-Evans-Gallagher is the the 4th line, we can make a push to be a playoff team. But that means we basically need one legit scorer for the second line, and 2/3 of the third line. lots to like with the young players we have, but still a lot of holes to fill.
  22. I wish they’d play Hutson more when the Suzuki line is on
