  1. Agreed. If markov was able to make Komisarek into an all-star imagine what he'll be able to do with Emelin(who seems to have more talent than Komo)

  2. I think Staal gets massively overrated because of one huge season in 05-06. He scored over 100 pts that year. However since that time, he's in the 70-75 pt range. That was the first year post lockout and PPs were through the roof. A lot of guys had career years. Joe Thornton had 130+ pts, which even for him is huge. Gionta had 48 goals. Gomez had his best ever season and became a 7million dollar centre as a result. Cheechoo went from 30 goals to 56. On and on down the list guys put up career years with extra PP time. As I said the rest of his career he's a 70-75 pt guy or in that range. While he's better than Plekanec, I don't think Staal is so much better that you add so much, I wouldn't move plek plus guys like Beaulieu, Weber, and draft picks to get him. He also makes nearly 3million more per year. I'd love to get him, but not at the price proposed here, its too much.

  3. Kessel seems to have no issue getting the puck to or from Joffrey Lupul.

  4. that may be true - don't know a whole lot about Ladoucer - I'm still bitter about Gainey giving Robinson the cold shoulder - IMO he was exactly what we needed. I also think that once Markov and Campoli are back, we are going to have an oppertunity to sit more Dman - I'm hoping that will mean giving Gill/Spacek nights off a lot more then the kids. I like the following pairings: -Markov with Emelin -Subban with Gorges -and rotating Gill/Spacek with /WeberDiaz. IMO Weber should develop into a better dman then Campoli, so I'd like to see him get a lot of hard minutes before Campoli comes back and pairing him with Gorges should also help his progression.

  5. What are we talking here? British or US? If it's US then that's an awful idea. The majority of Office fans will tell you the first season is terrible and the show doesn't find its groove until season 2. Seasons 2-4 are all great and then it gets iffy after that. 5 is not bad, 6 is terrible, 7 gets a bit better. 8 has been decent so far. But season one, they spend far too much time trying to imitate the BBC show instead of doing their own thing. Another Greg Daniels show, Parks and Recreation, is the same way. Season 1 they try really hard to imitate the US Office and it wasn't good at all. Season 2 and beyond they do their own thing and it's god tier Theres a normal version out there too.

  6. Markov is but one factor, there are a few at work here. Firstly Cam has always been at his best with a successful pp lining up in the circle and unleashing the one timer. So yes, a guy at the point who can feed him the puck would be a good addition. Secondly, he's a streaky scorer. Like many 30+ goal guys, his goals come in bunches. Cammy hasn't gotten into a groove this year, but once he's healthy and able to do so, I think you'll see his production skyrocket. He'll have a nice 10-15 game hot streak and suddenly the numbers will be there. The continual nagging injuries haven't helped him. lastly he's a guy who has shown that he can be counted on in clutch situations. For that reason, I can deal with these early season struggles. I'm not saying having Markov is the only way Cam has a good season. But surely, a better PP will only enhance his talent.

  7. No offence, but I find this post lame. Cammy is a PP guy who needs someone on the point to distribute the puck Markov was a major reason why he came here. So he has not been in a position to get 30+ goals here. Beyond that, he has nevertheless been a playoff superstar. Casually discounting that is silly. There are a million reasons why Gomez has been a disaster, but I'm sure tired of people bringing up his goals totals. Gomez is not a goal-scorer. Attacking him on that basis is like Marinaro factoring in our pre-season record to make our win-loss record at home look worse than it is. It's sheer rhetoric.

  8. With the Habs' depth at D, I'd seriously consider a package involving Subban for Eric Staal. Provided, of course, the cap space situation can be worked out and what else would have to be included. But the element of risk associated with Subban developing into a top flight defenseman versus getting a proven stanley cup winning #1 center who big and skilled. He's all-world. Can we confidently say Subban is all-world? (Of course, I said seriously consider. This also depends on how Markov performs when he comes back, because we need one of Subban or Markov at the very least.)
