  1. Just to pick up on the bolded point, Laval's game on Saturday is a good example of how little deterrent a fighter like Xhekaj can be. One of Belleville's goons spent a lot of the game taking runs at guys in the hopes of provoking a fight with Xhekaj while their other one deliberately went after Laval's goalie after the whistle, sparking another fracas.

  2. 100% agree. Sometimes revenge brings some level of satisfaction, other times you have incidents like McSorley or Bertuzzi. only way to really get stupidity and cheap shots out other game, is the league to take a stance by having harsher dislike. Starting point is not to have not to have goon clowns like Parros in charge of discipline. If the goon honey after Laval’s goalie got 5 to 10 games suspension, that would take those type of cheap shots out the game. If you cross heck someone on the back of the head and the penalty for first time offenders is 5 game suspension, that will increase to 10 games for thr second infraction., and a coach gets 5 games, those types of penalties would be real deterrents.

  3. You have to ask the question as to whether so many of these were busts due to themselves or poor development from The Habs management. We had a win now mentality with a mediocre bunch and when top draft picks didn't become the next Richard overnight, they weren't supported the way the Habs do now. Can't imagine that Slavkovsky would have had the time develop or even our entire D corps, had this been under Bergevin in the middle of the last decade. In some respects, Price being long-term injured has helped the club to stop chasing "a cup before Carey retires" like the whole of the 2010's was.

  4. I think we are confusing playoff team with a contender team. If our injuries weren’t so severe our second line would be Newhook - Dach - Monahan Habs are about to enter bubble status, climbing out of bottom feeder status is what I’m saying, not that we are ready to compete.

  5. Sheesh, they beat Colorado, the Rangers, win in New Jersey, lose in OT to Edmonton and now the world is falling apart because of 1 game. Weren't we expecting some nights like this with a young team?
