  1. I don't think the Habs are looking to trade Anderson but if they get blown away by an offer?
  2. It certainly is a fine balance, wait too long and teams who may have been a good trade partner go in another direction and you are left holding the bag and getting a much lower return. The timing also works for buyers, if they wait too long then the player they want may end up being traded somewhere else. it should be a fun few days coming up.
  3. I tend to agree, an excellent defenseman who was part of some outstanding teams. But I don't think of legendary when I think of Guy Lapointe. I think of the Rocket, Beliveau, Lafleur, Harvey etc. It reminds me a bit of Kevin Lowe being named to the Hall of Fame. He was an importance piece of some great Oiler teams but Hall of Fame? If he had played on any other team I think there would have been an almost zero chance he would have been considered. Being fortunate to be on some great Stanley Cup winning teams does a lot for your profile.
  4. I wonder if this means Anaheim will make a big effort to sign Lindholm now, you would think losing both Manson and Lindholm would leave a huge hole on their defence. I hope they resign Lindholm.
  5. That is a decent return, Helleson is a good prospect. Not a fantastic return but certainly a decent one.
  6. Yup I agree, things got pretty heated on this topic before.
  7. It is impressive, Habs should lock him into a multi year contract, perhaps 4M/year. OK, just kidding about the contract part.
  8. I think it's a little early to suggest that he may be a late bloomer. He has 2 goals in 25 NHL games this year so I need to see a little more blooming than that. Having said that, he has worked hard and put in a decent performance, perhaps a 4th line guy at best.
  9. If they are worried about his mental state then he shouldn't be playing in the NHL right now period.
  10. Another big 4 point game. My hopes for this game; 1) Habs battle hard but lose a close one in regulation 2) No injuries to any Hab players, especially Chiarot Is that too much to ask for?
  11. Yeah I think you might be right after having a closer look, how far they drop would depend on how many teams in the standings below them make the conference finals.
  12. I just saw that Gabriel Landeskog is undergoing knee surgery, no timetable on his return (perhaps a Kucherov situation). I wonder if this will alter the Avs trade plans at all, if they had any.
  13. I agree, but the I think the odds are against that tonight. Habs are playing well, arena full of fans and the Kracken as pointed out have sucked recently. I see the Habs as a big favourite tonight, it's been a while since you could say that.
  14. It's a combination of regular season/playoff record below for teams that make the playoffs. If the Flames win their division (likely) and go out in the first round then the pick is probably in the 20-24 range if I am reading this right. I don't dislike the Flames and am cheering for Tyler Toffoli to do well but ..... Here is an outline of the NHL Lottery: 1 All teams missing the playoffs are in a weighted-lottery 2 Teams with the least points get more chances at winning the lottery 3 Two teams will be selected through the lottery and will move up a maximum of 10 spots 4 Remaining lottery teams, sorted by team records with the worst record being first, fill out picks 3-16 5 Playoff teams that did not win their divisions and did not make the conference finals, sorted by points, are assigned the next picks 6 Playoff teams that won their divisions and did not make the conference finals, sorted by points, are assigned the next picks 7 Conference finals losers sorted by regular season points are assigned picks 29 and 30 8 Stanley Cup runner-up is assigned pick 31 9 Stanley Cup champion is assigned pick 32 Source
  15. The Habs sure have some massive 4 point games coming up, Seattle, Philly, Arizona. It's not a bad week to cool down a bit. It is good that Jake Allen is coming back, another trade option.
  16. Fair enough, hopefully the Flames go out in the 1st round so that other #1 pick is in the 20 range.
  17. That is true, it is more of a "hope" than an "expectation", every year is different. I think there are many teams where expectations/pressure is high to win pretty soon (ie. Toronto, Colorado, Florida). Then there are teams like Vegas/Edmonton who may not even make the playoffs unless they make a move. There are also teams like Boston/Pittsburgh whose window is winding down as their star players (Crosby, Malkin, Marchand, Bergeron) have reached their twilight years. Lots of teams that could overpay.
  18. Commandant, who would you like to see the Habs be able to grab with their later 1st, early 2nd? I realize the Calgary pick could be anywhere from 20-32. Thanks
  19. Those are good examples of teams over paying. We just need to hope that teams are willing to over pay this year although teams that have been burned in the past might be a little more careful.
  20. If the best you can get is a 2nd round pick then you keep him. He is worth way more than a 2nd round pick and that pick would likely be a late 2nd rounder as it would be a contending team interested. Either a 1st or a later pick and a good prospect.
  21. Absolutely, whether Petry wants to stay or not is not the determining factor, it's the return they can get while he still has value. I don't think Hugo has any intention of letting him age out and they have pretty much stated they are looking at trading him.
  22. That's the likely scenario. A team asking about Armia is a long way from anything serious. The media needs something to talk about. I think we are stuck with him for a while unless 1) Habs willing to eat salary which I am not a fan of here or 2) Habs take on another bad contract. I don't expect anything to happen with Armia unless perhaps it is part of a larger transaction.
