I see your point but Florida not making the playoffs is the most important thing and the Islanders and Pittsburgh staying ahead of them guarantees that. An Islander win in OT would have been the perfect scenario. Buffalo has been so inconsistent that I just don't see them passing Florida but you never know.

Habs need to take it easy tonight and save their big effort for the upcoming Florida game.

Columbus had a big OT win last night so they likely won't be as motivated, should be a win for the Habs unfortunately.

It seems like the Habs will be drafting in that area unless we get lucky with the draw. A guy that really impressed me at the world juniors was Axel SandinPellikka, great mobility and puck handling skills, he seems likely to go mid first round.

Here is a question to make sure I understand this correctly. Let's say Florida sneaks into the 8th playoff spot in the East and has the worst record of all playoff teams. Unless the Panthers win 2 rounds and make the final 4, the Habs would draft 17th with that pick. Is that correct?

If you are looking at the big picture you want the Leafs to beat Florida the remaining 3 times they play them and then lose in the 1st round again. I am not confident they lose in the 1st round either as Tampa has looked really bad lately but then again they have been known to turn it on in the playoffs. Cooper knows how to get them ready for the playoffs.

Tonight will be one of those very rare nights where I will be cheering for the Leafs. Big win for Pittsburgh last night, hopefully they can string a few together.

Depends on the cost, I think Dadonov might be good value for a team as he has played very well recently and I don't think that has gone unnoticed. Of course Mtl eats 50%. I definitely think there will be some interest from teams.

Boston is certainly the favourite but I wish I had a dollar for every time the heavy favourite has lost in the 1st round to a team that had to fight and scrape to get into the last playoff spot.

You might be right. I think a lot depends on whether he can get on the ice this season and perform well. If that happens then he will likely get better offers.

It really is a crap shoot with goalies. It would be crazy to waste an early pick on a goalie unless you were really really confident (ie. Carey Price). Goaltending hasn't been the Habs problem this year but you still need some prospects in the pipeline.
