I'm not convinced Xhejak couldn't benefit from ahl time but the ltir penalty next season is a fair reason not to.

I think we'd all agree that what we need is a more responsible vet presence to balance out young mistakes... trading Matheson for that makes perfect sense. Sadly after looking around the league I see no trade/player that realistically makes sense for both sides. Every team with possibly a free body already has a solid pp dman or the the guy coming back is too bad offensively or too good overall to make it a good trade. Plus there's always cap shit too. Likely too difficult to do that kind of identity shifting trade in season.

I think that our d needs more vets. To steady the ship a bit and stop destroying young players confidence. Have a player commit to the AHL until the deadline when Savard is likely moved. Then we still Fabbro to be a vet defensive guy. Also... he'd have been free.

I think the reality of our defense means that the reality of fabbro would likely help.

I mean I don't think it would have been bad at all to claim him and just keep one of the young guys in the AHL. Rotate him and Barron keeping one of Xhejak or Struble on the L. If he is brutal than waive away. If he isn't than maybe he can replace Savard.

We need some fresh life on this team. Just claim anyone off waivers and blast some of these guys to the moon

Yah and having looked across the league quick... the "around 30 rhd" options basically to a man have ntc protection that likely includes us. So I go back to it being a LHD (maybe a LH who plays RD if possible) who is more responsible. We need a vet who can be a steadying force. Who can actually play minutes. Especially if/when Savard is moved at the deadline. Edit: just to be clear I'm not some sort of "we need to trade matheson" guy. I am more focusing on how imo we need a different style of player out there for that many minutes a night. Plus trading guys at peak value seems like a good move.

Well I doubt a team will be too kean on moving a youngish rhd. It would be very specific. But a 30 year old rhd who could be in the top four would be great. Transition down to the Savard role in a couple years.

I think we should move Matheson for a more responsible player of a similar age. Find a team that wants a little more offense from their back end. Maybe we don't trade for a dfd but just a more reliable guy than Matheson.

Meh not having Marek ruins the show more than some guy on Twitter I haven't heard of posting things. But admittedly they likely had to let him go. Overall I'm just glad it wasn't something more nefarious that got him canned. Seems like a very likable guy... don't need to find out more people are evil lol

How concerned are you about Ehlers/Necas being perimeter guys with reputations for struggling in the playoffs? We need offensive talent but would acquiring the wrong talent this year be forcing it when others may be available next year?

I generally understand why most of those goalies are ranked ahead of him. Skinner just went to the cup final. Ingram, Kotchekov got a lot of good press this year. Broissoit and Stolarz were Ufa media hyped. Woll is Toronto type. Surprised about Allen and Sammy... allen did hot for NJ post trade maybe that + name rec? Sammy was so publicly blasted I'm shocked he is there.

Would free us up to move Savard at the deadline and provide insoluation on rhd to ensure Mailloux/Hutson in AHL for half the season. Obviously we have to move dmen but mainly on the left. Having ceci would help us move Guhle to the left. Well I figure they will sign a vet to be the 7th unless they rotate Xhejak-Barron-Struble. I just think guys like Harris, Strubble and Barron may not increase in value.
