I've lived in BC and Alberta all my life. It is amazing how many Habs fans there are here. It was hard to tell watching the flames game, because their sweaters are red, but it was crazy how many red sweaters were at the oilers game. Well in the thousands. I would say 25% of the crowd were Habs fans. The exact same same thing happens with the Leafs. Many people root for the home team. I enjoy watching the Oilers win, or make a run in the playoffs. By my focus and passion are with the Habs. It is cultural for me. I remember my dad and his brothers all gathering at out home to watch the habs. It was easy for me to cheer for them, because at 5 years old, my dad was the strongest and smartest man in the world. And he could kick a football further than your dad. This culture is alive in non francophones across Canada. And it is real.
