Sign Sundin, or sign nobody. Then play Halak enough, so that he is good trade bait. Trade him for a top centre before the trade deadline? Maybe?
-
I don't buy that at all. I think if Sundin decides to test free agency and signs with the Habs on the 3rd, all bets will be off as for as compensation to the leaves. So what if Sundin doesn't sign with anyone till October? We would still have to compensate Feltcher if he signed with us? I think Feltcher was just hoping that Bob could get him signed before the deadline, so he could get something for him.
-
If Sundin doesn't sign with us, I think Rolston would be a great fit. He's a 30 goal scorer on a totally defensive team. He can play any position and is great on the PP and PK. Depending on what he wants, I would rather have Rolston than Hossa. He's not scared to go to the dirty parts of the ice, and he's big. There would also be little adjustment from Lemaire's style to Carbo's. I don't see him as a replacement to Plek by any means. I just feel that his style of play would possibly fill a void.

I am very impressed with Gainey's savy regarding his efforts to sign Sundin. If Mats is interested, Gainey has exlusive bargaining, if he is not, he can focus his efforts on other UFAs. If he does sign before July 1st, I suspect the cost will be a 1st rounder or high prospect. With Raycroft on waivers, I hope it isn't Halak.

Hahaha...So funny Saks. I laughed out loud.
-
It's funny how over 50% of a Tanguay thread is discussing Sundin.
-
I guess Bob is sticking to his word. More speed up front with Kristo. Hopefully he gets stronger.
-
That's a very good point. I suppose all of this depends on who we give up. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Gorges in all this. I can't see Fletcher agreeing to take the Cube or Dandy. The cap hit is too high for what you get. I wonder if Striet or Ryder were worked into the equation? I have heard that Ryder's favourite team was the Leaves.
-
Ouch, A 1st and 2nd gone for 2009? But I suppose if you look at the roster depth and prospects, it couldn't hurt too bad.
-
I am sold on Gorges. I think he made great strides last year. He just needs to put the puck in the freakin net when he gets those chances. I think he is a great 5 or 6 D man. My guess is that the Tanguay acquisition and assuming that Sundin can be signed means that Striet will be down the road. I like Streit a lot, but wouldn't lose sleep over losing him as UFA.

Not happening?

Done deal Tanguay to Habs.

Gretzky ,Lemieux, and Orr are the only 3 names whinch deserve to be used in the same sentence when you are discussing greatness. Jagr even said it, and I agree. All this comparing Crosby to these guys, or anyone else is nonsense. All the other elites, including Sundin, do not deserve that kind of status.
-
Of the players you listed, I would go hard for Rolston, Sundin, Dimitra, Hossa, Selanne. In that order. The rest can piss off.

I didn't read the link...language issues...but what the hell does this thread have to do with Habs stuff?

A disapointing end to the season, but I am still proud of the boys. I really believe that Marky and Komi were playing hurt. They weren't themselves this series. Komi never crushed one guy that I saw. Our D need to work on stopping forwards when they cut to the middle acroos our blueline. I just hope Price doesn't turn into another Fleury. Brought up too fast and hurt his developement for a couple years. I really hope we can add some SKILLED toughness up front this offseason. They don't have to be Canadian, but they have to play like canadians. |Fineese is fun to watch, but we all saw what skill and toughness can accomplish. Those big Flyer forwards were just driving to the net steady. How's Fisher doing? I thought he was gonna be good, but I don't hear much about him.

I would say that this team has dominated 6 or 7 out of 9 periods against Philly so far. Regardless of the outcome, I can't be mad at this team. If you are giving it 100%, that's all you can do. It's become a goaltender dual, and Biron plays well when he's facing a lot of shots. So does Price. It's a little hard to watch, but regardless of the outcome, I will be proud of this team for their efforts in this series.

The boys played fantastic tonight. A little passive defensively, and the 2 first goals were scarey. Come out a little Price. I was disapointed with the result, but very happy with the game as a whole. A screened deflection, a deflection that finds the only tiny whole in the corner I can't blame Price for those two, or the one where Umberger cranked him in the glove. I do agree that Price hasn't looked great lately, but man you gotta love the way the Habs are buzzing around the Flyer's cement skate defense. I was inpressed with the team's tenacity in the Flyer's zone, and disapointed with the "D". Biron was brilliant on a few great plays, and he was the difference maker. I feel confident after this loss. "Hey Komi, start getting mean! Flyers are your enemy. You hate them. They will take your children in the night. Start hating, and start crushing!!!"

Ya, I washed every single fabric that I had with a Habs logo or name on it. Hats, shirts, jerseys, Blanket, cushion. Washed the filth of loss away. Then I wore all of it to work. I was so bummed that I could only listen on XM radio. I am working nights, but I'm getting up at 11:30 (Alberta time) to watch Canadiens Express.

Kozed, You gonna break out the Yvonne avatar whenever the Habs really need it? I noticed you changed it after the game. Someone stated earlier and I agree. Carbo's tie, Kozed's Yvonne, and Fanpuck's thread... all major contribitors to the win.
-
I'm not gonna watch. I have to work during the game and I am sort of glad.

Saks and Cube haven't played much in the 2nd. -
Chara is hurt. If they come out flying, and fly for the full 3 periods, they will win. Don't ease up on Chara out of respect though. Don't try to kill him, but they avoided hitting him yesterday. It's a contact sport. It would be nice to not have that big body on the right side.

They need to hit Chara early on Saturday. He is hurt. If he can't play, the Pooh Bears should be nice and deflated. If they don't win, the kids aren't ready yet. Big improvement from last year, but comiing into the season, I didn't think they would make it in. I have a good feeling about Saturday though.
