  1. I feel like the handful of times Anderson drove to the net were more dangerous that anything the top line did. I'm shocked they even had 7 shots combined. People are talking about Anderson not putting up points... while our top line is doing an amazing job shutting down the other teams' top lines, they have combined for 10 points. Just based on how well they defend, they need to be countering and putting up some more points.
  2. Best at being strong on the puck. Actually carrying the puck into the zone. Driving to the net. He was the most noticeable forward last night not on the Suzuki line. At least offensively. I disagree. We need to find a way to get the 1st and/or 3rd line going. The old man line been a major contributor, but we're not going to win if them and the Suzuki lines are the only ones creating offense with any regularity. We need to get Gallagher and Anderson to put up points. Tatar is more capable offensively than other guys who are in the lineup and would be more likely to help jump start a line. Especially in a contract year, he's got to be chomping at the bit to get back out there and repair his value to some degree.
  3. He was still one of their best players last night. Now that the streak is over and messing with the lineup makes more sense, I would out Tatar back into the lineup on the Kotkianiemi/Anderson line. I'm not sure if that puts Byron in the press box or you move him to Lehkonen or Armia's spot, but I think that move would add some offensive punch to the lineup. Vegas showed that we are going to need skill to beat them, or at least more of an ability to move the puck effectively.
  4. They are the only place I have ever seen an injury of any kind mentioned. The few times they have mentioned a source, it has been a French one. They don't link the source, so I can't know for sure, but something tells me they aren't bothering to translate the French news sources and are just assuming it says that he is out because of injury. If he was hurt, they wouldn't only be talking about the health of Evans, Petty, and Merrill.
  5. I've always thought the salary cap is far too complicated. They should get rid of the daily calculations and just base everything off of total yearly salary. At all times, your total active salary needs to be under the cap. None of this manipulating things so that you keep 1 million open for 2/3 of the season, allowing you to add a 3 million dollar player for the last 1/3. Then get rid of LTIR and simply don't count players who are on IR.
  6. After Chuck, she did a stint on Dexter. She did the first 24 reboot (the one with Kroger Sutherland still in it). Umm, then I think Astronaut Wives Club. A sadly small role in the new Predator movie. (Maybe more of her could have helped that stinker!) But her biggest role has been in The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu.
  7. On the one hand, it's exceedingly rare that a player with Kucherov's salary is going to be out for an entire regular season, only to return for the playoffs. On the other hand, they absolutely need to address the fact that dead money contracts like Gaborik and Nilsson are valuable assets that can be used to take advantage of the LTIR rules.
  8. I guess they shouldn't be scouting the Habs or watching game tape either, since they should all just be so confident in their own game. You can bet any Vegas players who know players on the Jets have been in touch to get the low down on the Habs. This is 2021. Players talk to players from other teams and coaches talk to coaches from other teams. Your old friend is somehow your opponent and now he is calling your girlfriend to pick your brain? I'm afraid you've lost me with this analogy. Notre Dame has a little bit of texture on their helmets, but they are every bit as shiny as the Vegas helmets.
  9. I've been giving that a lot of thought. I'd like to see what he could do if re-inserted into the lineup. I normally would have no problem slotting him in over guys like Byron, Lehkonen, or Armia. Lehkonen filled in almost seemlessly for Evans, who had been playing very well himself. Armia-Staal-Perry has shown great chemistry. Byron has definitely contributed, though that line has probably been the least impactful.
  10. You don't contact your old teacher about a current math problem because you now have better resources at your disposal. But only Sheldon Keefe has more experience facing Ducharme at the NHL level. It sounds from the context that you are no longer close with your old school chum, so of course it would make no sense to seek his advise. But if you are still close and he knows your girlfriend, then why not seek his advise? That is the better analogy here. Also, the shiny helmets are glorious. Of course, I am a huge Notre Dame fan, so I am partial to shiny gold helmets.
  11. How is getting insight about a coach he has never faced and a team he hasn't faced in over a year a desperate move? He'd be a fool not to use every resource at his disposal. All it does is show that he's not taking the Habs lightly.
  12. Seriously? That's pretty ridiculous. It was one thing to exempt other expansion teams when they were adding a teams in back-to-back years, but four years later? That seems overly lenient.
  13. Granted, if Torts had been really confident about getting another job, he would have resigned an forfeited the guaranteed money. So it's not all on the Jackets. That seems to be the story of Jarmo - he wants to play chicken in every negotiation and he doesn't lose at chicken, no matter the end result being positive or negative.
  14. Sure, there was some risk of having to pay two coaches. But after how fast Torts seems to get jobs, I doubt he was going to be out of work for long. I doubt he tries to leave if he wasn't confident of getting another job right away.
  15. I saw the headline for that article, but forgot to ask of anyone on here could give me a summary. I was still on board with Jarmo until I found out that Torts wanted out last year and they wouldn't agree to part ways with him. This season was doomed as soon as that decision was made. I hated the Torts hire from the start, so I have always been quick to blame him for players wanting out. But looking back, it seems like a lot of issues actually started with contract negotiations. Torts was really hard on Ryan Johansen, but that was after a contentious contract negotiation. Josh Anderson soured after a contract situation. Pierre-Luc Dubois. Even Werenski has been up and down after a difficult contract negotiation. But nobody who has left actually seems to have anything bad to say about Torts.
  16. That's a fair point. While I know a rebuild is coming, there was still a part of me wanting to believe hiring the right coach would reinvigorate Seth Jones and get Patrik Laine excited. Also, I was really hoping that they'd get Don Granato out of Buffalo. He was an original member of the Chill and their last coach. He was on such a great trajectory before his bout with cancer and it took him a long time to rebuild his career to being talked about for NHL head coaching positions. I realize his name was never linked to the job, but I was hoping that just meant it would be a good surprise.
  17. Jackets promote from within, hiring Brad Larsen as coach. What an absolutely terrible move for a team that so desperately needed a culture change.
  18. Yeah, recognized the tower. I just didn't put the colors, location, and timing together.
  19. Yes. Because I have no idea what moment that is.
  20. A one game final in a tournament is also a lot different from a 7 game series. It is more comparable to a SuperBowl in the US, where 1/3 of people are watching. You've also got a national pride factor with an international tournament. Canada gets over 50% viewership of the Olympic finals when they are in it, I believe. Football in the US is comparable to hockey in Canada in terms of being the top sport. With one game playoff rounds, there is definitely more of an "event" factor than you'll get with a 7 game series. Even so, the conference championship games last year each got under 45 million viewers. That's in the 1/8 range for a pair of 3.5 hour games, so a 7 game series averaging 1/7 viewers is still major viewership.
  21. Just checked the email addresses in the H2H league... Why did I think the Alex in that league wasn't actually Alexstream? Haha. I guess because when I saw Aussie Canuck I thought it was AussiePosse and was totally wrong.
  22. Oh wow. So they've rolled out over 20 million first doses in the last three weeks? Or is the 8% fully vaccinated number way out of date? Nevermind, I see this followup now. So they went more the UK route of not doing both doses at the suggested time. I was wondering how a country like Canada could have fallen so far behind. Didn't think to look at only 1st dose numbers.
  23. Last I checked, Canada was still under 8% vaccinated, so it doesn't seem like it is readily available. I'll admit, I haven't heard anything about Quebec specifically, and it is always a bit different from the rest of the country. But yeah, getting it done now while there are no games to be played is the idea I was going for.
  24. Do you think there is any chance Montreal travels early to Denver/Vegas or a more nearby base like Buffalo to take advantage of the vaccine availability down here and get the team vaxxed up during this break?
  25. Broadcaster: "What's going through your mind right now?" Toffoli: "I just can't wait to be back in the locker room with the boys. You guys are killing the buzz here."
