  1. Well said! The days of players being dazzled by putting on a Habs sweater is loong gone. Although, I think in this instance he is the right Russian to go. Unlike Kovalev. Will miss the Grabowski fued.
  2. I dont know about you guys but I have not been thrilled with the reports on Price in preseason. I am in the camp of " what have you done for me lately". Halak has been outplaying him the whole pre-season. Thus he deserves to start. Simple mo?
  3. Frankly given his lack of aggression I wish he had taken up paganism.
  4. What is a staged fight? At least this guy is not a reluctant fighter like our vegan BGL.
  5. CH-CH-CH CHANGES The Montreal Canadiens failed miserably in what was supposed to be a grand celebration of 100 years of greatness last season. The NHL's otherwise most successful franchise operated in disarray and then reacted by making sweeping changes in the off-season. It is a pity how this team appeared to be on the cusp of greatness through careful planning and grooming of its prospects and now is starting all over from scratch. I'll take a wait-and-see approach on the changes, but at first blush, I'm not crazy about the players GM Bob Gainey has brought to town. To many second-liners being paid first-line money. Time will tell. Link: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/09/02/...hy_nhl_horrors/
  6. The bottom line is we would be a better team with him than without him
  7. This is where I lost complete confidence in Gainey after being a long time booster. That and Komisarek. Losing Kovalev was dumb dumb dumb. For a two year contract at 5m!!?? And this lame ass excuse of we tendered a contract and never heard back. Pick up the phone Bob. According to Murray Wilson he was a leader in the room and the most active charity guy on the team. He is by far one of the most entertaining player in the league. Also who can forget him knocking Tucker into next week.
  8. I dont know. But Tanguay was always in the right spot, something you cant teach. We gave up a lot for him and he is only 30 years old. Also a Quebecker!
  9. I thought Lang and Tanguay were among our best forwards last year. I cant believe they are just being tossed on the scrap heap, especially given the price we paid for Tanguay. Furthermore, why has no one signed them?
  10. I have to say after many years of supporting Bob Gainey I have lost cpmplete confidence in him. The drafting has been sound but the trades have been abysmal. Letting Komisarek, Streit, Souray go for nothing was nothing short of bizarre. I used to admire his complete confidence in his judgement, especially his ignoring the clamouring of the French press. As a lifelong Habsfan I hope the team is better but I am not optimistic.
  11. Habsfan! Give it up! Your bias is showing. I have never witnessed anything like the night Koivu came back after cancer treatment. While I understand the business decision about not keeping Koivu it saddens me to see it end this way. Give credit where credit is due.
  12. Taking the Habs C is a curse I wouldnt wish on Rejean Tremblay!
  13. Koivu is a fighter and a hero "Injuries and illness did not diminish him one bit as a man." By JACK TODD, The GazetteJuly 6, 2009 http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/hock...2971/story.html jacktodd46@yahoo.com © Copyright © The Montreal Gazette
  14. Komisarek to the Leafs, my worst nightmare. Thats just gross. Pierre McGuire goes out of his way with his big mouth to diss the Habs. Obviously personal.
  15. Our blueline has aged rapidly over the course of an hour.
  16. Why wouldnt they have grabbed Ian Laperriere?????
  17. That is going to be a small non=physical defence. Bruins and Flyers will feast on that.
  18. I knew Timmins when he was working for the Sens he was a gofor nothing more. Wore weightlifter pants and was in charge of making sure the players had accomadations, cars etc.

  20. Boone in the Gazette's take: I dunno, folks. Is there another deal to come. Komisarek is out of here, to the Rangers, New Jersey or maybe – gulp! – Boston. So who's the next physical defenceman in the pipeline? David Fischer? Please. McDonagh is all of 20. He was considered a blue-chip draft prospect. So Trevor Timmins andhis staff work their butts off to feed fodder into the cannon of Trader Bob? I'm not happy.
  21. I agree the big story here is not the trade. Its losing a player like Komisarek on a small meek team. Teams are dying for this type of player. We are going to rue the day. BAD BAD BAD move!
  22. They will rue the day! Strong tough positional guys do not grow on trees.
