I can't remember the last time I channel-surfed during a Habs game (during actual play, not during commercials). This is bloody depressing.

amen 'good' player for 1/3 of the year, has enough 'great' games to make up another 1/3 of the year, and is absolute 'garbage' for the final 1/3. Averages out to 'good'

My argument against Koivu totally removes the leadership factor from the equasion, because like some of you said, we really don't know what kind of leader he is...we're not in the dressing room. My problem with him is his lack of production for long stretches of seasons, and his lack of discipline on the ice. The only knock I can put on him leadership-wise with absolute confidence is that he fails to lead by example (that's what we can all see, what he does on the ice) far too many nights.

I'll be shocked if we get more than one by Marty. So, let's hope our tender pitches a miracle shutout. They were doing it early in the season...maybe they can do it one more time.

Are you kidding me? Koivu isn't even CLOSE to being the kind of player who deserves to have his number retired! Look at his numbers...look at his (lack of) post-season accomplishments; he wouldn't get his jersey retired with his resume if he had played in Los Angeles, much less Montreal.

I am not a fan of Carbo's system at all. I watched a lot of bad Senators hockey under Jacques Martin...a team that doesn't forecheck aggressively is boring as hell to watch. These Habs just aren't built for that style of hockey, yet Carbo is shoving it down everyone's throat stubbornly.

If I were GM, I wouldn't do anything too drastic this season, since I really don't think this team is a rental player player or two away from doing anything significant. I'd spend the next week seeing if I could sign Souray to a contract extension. If not, I'd package him with Abby and try to get something for them. Now, in the offseason, I'd do the following: -Sign Markov, first and foremost -Sign another solid D-man, preferably one with a bit of a mean streak -Get rid of Ryder -Murray and Downey...gone -I wouldn't offer Rivet a contract; he's too damn slow to play in the new NHL. Same goes for Niinima -I'd trade Koivu if I could get anything decent for him from a team he was willing to waive his no-trade clause for -Whichever of Drury or Briere the Sabres can't sign, I'd get them -I'd look for another center, preferably a big guy with decent hands to center the second line -Next season, I'd feature more of our offensively gifted young players..I'm not a big fan of the plug type players. -Try to keep Bonk if it's reasonable price-wise ***I'd tell Carbo that if he doesn't implement a more offensive system, he's gone*** Nothing earth-shattering...more and more, I think that the people who have been saying it all along are right; Bob isn't doing much because the Habs are in a structured rebuild right now. Something tells me that barely makign the playoffs (or just missing them) is about what was expected from this bunch.

Then again, I can't think of A SINGLE TEAM that the Habs look like they could handle, playing the way they are right now. :puke: And don't anyone get smartass and name an AHL team...because I suspect that game would be a lot tighter than you'd think.

I didn't like his signing at all, either. He's a number-two center, and he's prone to playing like a 3 or a 4 for long stretches.
