  1. The Barron hit sucked and I hope he is ok but I somewhat have to agree with the argument of Barron being partially to blame. I liked what Bieska said and that Barron was in a vulnerable position and remained in it for a while. Robinson likely thought Barron would turn as he skated in towards him. To me, it did look like he let up, he certainly could have hit Barron a lot harder than he did.
  2. Awesome!! Struble!! Nice 1st NHL goal. Heads up play by him. Wow, Suzuki makes it 2-0!!!
  3. Well, at least the Habs had a much better response this game than the last time when Barron got did dirty by Doughty. That was a pathetic complete non-reaction in the LA game. I was surprised that Barron didn't miss any time from the hit from the previous game
  4. Yes, that is true and I had thought of that. However, Armia could have passed it the other Habs player that was near him and he could have went on a rush. It drives me crazy how many times they could potentially do that vs times they actually think to try it. They generally dump the puck down the ice way too often. That especially drives me nuts when they do in OT. ex: in OT when the other team is putting pressure on in the Habs end, when the Habs finally get possession of the puck, the threat is immediately over. There is no need to ever dump the puck like that in OT.
  5. Yes, and the way Primeau is playing so far I was almost surprised its him because he is looking more like Monty. I loved that Armia looked around and went on that rush and almost scored. Later on in the same sequence when the puck was back in Habs end he could have repeated it and gone on another rush. However, he didn't look around and just dumped the puck.
  6. I have no issue with the lines. It almost seems like Kovacevic is looking more dangerous than most of their Forwards when he is in the bumper spot in the slot.
  7. Damnit - what a crap 5 on 3 with 0 scoring chances, followed up by a weak penalty on Monahan to end the rest of the PP. Nice glove save by Allen on Larkin, but he's lucky the shot went to the middle of the net. Hopefully, the Habs score the next goal and make this game interesting.
  8. I liked that Struble was standing up for himself and went after the guy that elbowed him wanting to fight him. Unfortunately, the other guy declined his offer. I definitely want to see Struble fight somebody because he is definitely tough. Nice, a 5 on 3 for over a minute. Habs better score on this PP.
  9. Right arm Armia!!! Short handed goal!! Well, after all he is a Fin, so he has sisu.
  10. I'd certainly say Allen was partially responsible for the 2nd goal when the puck wasn't covered. ex: if a goalie thinks the puck is covered and an opposing player makes a quick movement towards them they should realize that a) the puck is lose, and b) the puck is where that player's stick is heading. Besides, fault is irrelevant - goals are goals, however; when a goalie's body language lacks confidence why keep them in net? Plus, the Habs are down by 2 after 1 period, so its still a winnable game, but if the Wings get another goal the Habs will have little to no chance. edit: announcer just said: Wings are 12-0-2 when they score 4 goals.
  11. Ya, it was definitely surprising how he bobbled the puck while in the Wings end out at the blue line and his attempted recovery lead to breakaway and goal against.
  12. I somewhat think Marty should pull Allen after that 3rd goal on 11 shots. Way to go Barron!! Not sure what's going on but they still haven't put the Habs goal on the score board.
  13. Son of a, numerous bad plays in the same sequence leads to the Wings 2nd goal. I liked what the announcer said, Anderson should have stopped near the net instead of skating behind the goal line. If he had stopped he would have seen the lose puck that Allen didn't realize was there.
  14. D'oh, when Pearson had the puck and dropped it back to the player behind him I would have liked to have seen a pass to the wide open Slaf vs them taking a shot.
  15. I'm definitely glad to hear he has been signed and although I'm not overly happy with the $ amount. The money isn't too bad but I would have preferred it to be 2.75-3 mil. However, I am happy that all the analysts were wrong that were predicting Monty's next deal would start with a 4. I'm unconvinced if this means anything regarding Hughes going with Monty for that time period though. Numerous teams that are interested in Monty would probably want to know what his cap would be if they got him. That $ is now known along with the # of years they could have him so any potentially interested teams will have more faith moving forward with a trade. i.e. other teams might have believed he wanted 4+ mil is and there is a big difference between 9.45 for 3 yrs and 12+ mil for 3 years.
  16. Primeau looked normal in this game, oh well hopefully he rebounds in the next game he gets. I wish when they are on the PK that they stop auto-icing the puck and look around and see where other guys are. At 1 point they could have gone on a minimum of a 1 on 2 man rush or a 2 on 2 but he just dumped the puck into the corner. Case and point, later on in the game Evans did try that and almost scored. Evans also made a good read on the Flor dman that was attempting to keep the puck in the Habs zone but failed. Evans telegraphed where the puck was going to go to and headed to that spot so the dman didn't have time to keep the puck in. Ylonen continues to look good - too bad he missed on his big chance. I'd say that was the Habs best scoring chance. He definitely looks like a NHLer and even if he's only a 4th liner he's a good 1 at that. I can picture him being dangerous on a playoff team playing on the 4th line. He seems to be higher than average at converting scoring chances into goals and that's exactly what you want from a 4th liner. The final score seems nutty because I thought that was 1 of their better played games this year.
  17. Which 1? He'd probably be sore or semi-injured from his 1st fall and the 2nd didn't look good either. From the way his ankle twisted outwards when it hit the post I'm thinking he might have a high ankle sprain and those can take a while to heal.
  18. I would have preferred a penalty shot. Anderson needs to score and 1 on 1 with the Goalie might have ended his drought. Although he hasn't got points in this game he is at least being BangBus and that's a good sign. I read an article the other day that mentioned something that I hadn't thought about: Anderson is on pace to get 8 pts this year. There is no way he'll only get 8 pts and when he finally scores I'm thinking he'll go on a crazy tear. Geez, Cole's penalty sucked but he did deserve it. Not sure what he was thinking. Dammit Lindstrom, though I'm glad it was him that did it. I certainly don't want to see crap plays from their regular young dmen.
  19. Umm, just be clear are you actually suggesting that a 20 year vet that's a Cup winner and future HOF can abuse their position of power over a young influential female staffer and exploit and coerce her into giving him sexual favours and that would be fully ok and not a reason to terminate because he is married?
  20. It seems like there is more to this story than what we have heard so far. It isn't entirely alcohol related, although he was drinking at the time. That Player Assistance Program route won't save him. George Laraque claims that he knows exactly what happened as do all media personnel do but none can say because they could be sued. A Boston reporter made a comment that what happened is similar to the Celtics coach who made derogatory comments along with an inappropriate relationship with a woman. i.e. Perry might have been cheating on his wife but nobody can say it. That info adds up and up until now other than the false rumour regarding Bedard's mom Perry's comments of wanting to be with his family and asking for privacy didn't have an explanation. Surprisingly, Laraque claims that every NHL team would have terminated Perry and from what we've heard so far it doesn't seem like enough for all teams to dump him. However, if Perry was abusing his vet status and me2'ing a young woman staffer that would definitely be enough. If that is true once Perry is terminated the NHL will either not allow him back or they will force him to enter a program similar to what Mailloux had to do. Due to his age, depending on what he did he's probably done playing and possibly coaching plus he might be banned from the HOF too.
  21. It is also possible that Perry doesn't like Chicago and regrets signing there and might prefer to be a free agent. If that is the case, even though he has the right to file a grievance he might chose not to go that route. i.e. that might not be a legit reason to terminate his contract and if he grieves it he could be stuck there. Also, Perry might know that the Hawks plan to Lindros him by refusing to trade him and to a playoff bound team. If that is what the Hawks plan to do with him being released might be better for him. All of this seems incredibly odd because Perry is known to be extremely professional. I have to wonder if he did it on purpose just to get out of Chicago?
  22. No, but they were all traded - which was odd for those teams to do at that time. Depending on what Perry did, the Hawks might not be allowed to do what they are planning on doing. My point about minor is something that could be allowed to be used as an excuse to terminate vs a fully legit reason. Think Kassian with the Habs - he was a passenger in a car that an intoxicated woman was driving - that's fairly minor, yet that was enough for the Habs to dump him. Not all teams would have went that route in that scenario. Is anyone familiar with the stipulations that are in a Standard Players Contract? The Hawks claim Perry violated that along with their own internal rules. I don't imagine that either would explicitly state that it is forbidden to sleep with a teammates mom. Neither likely mention a teammates gf or wife. It will be interesting to see if Perry enters the NHL Assistance Program because that does temporarily save a player. ex: Lucic - the Bruins want to dump him but can't until he exits that program.
  23. Yes, and in every case of rumoured infidelities' there have been 0 official reports of it. ex: Mike Comrie & Salo's wife, Seguin & with Hortons wife, Coach Nolan (+Corson) & Mogilny's wife, possibly Chelios & Habs Pres in 86, etc. The only exception to "rumours" is Shanahan and that is only because his wife is his ex-teammates ex-wife so its basically undeniable what went down. None of those were reported by *reputable* sources because that is an incredibly obtuse requirement due to the legal repercussions previously mentioned. There is a commonality in all of those situations where it didn't make hockey sense for those teams to have dumped those players. The same is true with Perry too. i.e. it's not like he wasn't playing well and hurting the team that they would think to get rid of him. The decision to move any of those players was not related to their on ice activity. Furthermore, if Perry made some off the cuff anti-whatever comment the Hawks probably wouldn't terminate his contract. They would send to him to get help before dumping him. ex: if he was gambling, drinking, etc that's the route that teams *must* legally take before they are allowed to ditch a player. If they didn't do that 1st the NHLPA would get involved on the players behalf and the team would lose and be forced to keep the player. However, due to the previous Hawks scandal they might be overly strict regarding accountability and they are trying to improve their culture and how people view their franchise. i.e. it could be something fairly minor but they are making a big deal of it so they don't look bad.
  24. Did anyone watch the Sens Panthers game? I just saw a post claiming the refs gave all 10 players on the ice 10 min misconducts. I looked it up and saw the play and the refs did. lol With about 7:30 left in the 3rd there was a big scrum behind the Panthers net after Brady got out of the penalty box and went in on a breakaway. None of the players in the scrum were settling down so they were all kicked out of the game. After the penalties the Sens had 6 players left on the bench and and Flor had 7. Another source said there was 2.5 minutes in penalties per minute of game time.
  25. While true, its more than that. There would be no credible reporter or news agency that would say anything about it because they'd be worried about being sued for either libel or slander. I can't see it being true but who knows because that info does potentially fit what is going on. However, Perry is a professional, and afaik he was thinking of being a Coach after he retires and if this is true it would basically kill that possibility. Plus, Perry is married and has a 6 yr old son, but that could be why he's asking for privacy and is with his family. i.e. he could be trying to reconcile his marriage. Who knows.
