Lats can't go to the AHL. He is on the big club to stay, he brings what few Habs players have, he hits, plays in front of the net and good hands. He'll be paired with Kiovu or Smoke. lats had very similar numbers as Kovalev with alot less ice time.

Minus 25 or whatever it was doesn't help him out with the fans. He is a PP specialist at this point. I think people want to see a more complete game from players on this team including Ryder.

JMMR, they averaged 32.7. They had alot of nights they gave up 40 plus shots, They were 3rd worsed in the league.

Someone had to play. As a team i believe Carbo would have liked to bench about everyone. (Pleks, Bonk, Johnson, Markov, Komi showed up for the most part most nights). Kovalev had alot of PP time as well. In critical situations and no shows he had less ice time. The few games he was on, he played alot. I do think you'll see more benchings this year as well.

Ice time he wants? He already has the highest average ice time of all forwards and he didn't produce. Why would you reward an underachiver? In case you haven't been keeping track, Carbo rewards good, hard play, i would expect Kovalev's ice time to actually decrease this year. He needs to EARN his ice time.

It's just easier for people to blame fringe players for the failures as opposed to the people who really desrve the criticism. great points on Huet, you can't give up 40 plus shots a night and expect to win.

Kovalev? hold on i have to stop laughing. 30 goals, are you talking about EA sports or something. When was the last time he had 30? I think Higgins can get 30. Markov and Hamrlik can both get more then 10 each. Lats and Kosty are wild cards. Paired with Koivu lats could get 25. Kosty seemed top be a set up man when playing with Pleks and Higgins.

No, i'm sure it was an nhl contract just like in San Jose. It's a good signing, i would like to see him get a real chance to play some minutes. It can't get any worse defensively that's for sure.

How did they make Mcdonagh look like a pilon? I was doing some reading and they said Mcdonagh, Pacioretti, fisher were probably the best skaters there. Was there anyone doing a summary of the camp like last year? I would be interested in reading about it.

Sorry shorthanded, i only see Ryder and a D 1 of (bouillon, Streit or Gorges, Dandy being moved. I would love to predict more but i don't see it happening. I think this is pretty close to the opening day roster. I wish i couls open up a site insaneavsfan, i would charge 99cents a month. I don't need everyone to join, just a million, then i could retire. BTH, i don't agree about know one in the system to replace Ryder, Kovalev in that spot is making 4.5 mill to put up some numbers. (I know he won't but). Lats had 18 goals i think, in limited roles and playing with the 4th line alot, paired with Koivu all year may fetch him 30 goals. Getting a high pick as aposed to a player is good for the future, free up space for the youth, and really not hurt the youth.

I'll take top 12 PP and penalty kill. That is providing 5 on 5 the can be a top 15 team. I think that's what BG means by balance.

He does his talking on the ice. More Habs need to start doing that. I have No problem with him saying nothing. Players who talk to much and don't back it up with good play gets you moved. See Rivet and Souray.

Yes it is out of the realm of possibilities of him returning. They already have 8 NHL Dmen (i use that term loosely) by contracts. BG offered him what he wanted to pay, Souray declined. End of sory. BYE Sheldon.

Actually if you get the NHL package in the states you get all the Habs games. I think last year only 2 weren't televised on one channel or another. I got about 5 or 6 RDS feeds. I assume RDS has the french speakers. I did learn that Butte means goal.

Well his defensive numbers say otherwise. He was the worst plus minus man in the league. I agree, Hamrlik will get undressed a few times and he has lost a step but it is a good upgrade to the position.

Hamrlik is a way better skater then the human pilon. he will get 40-50 points and his plus minus will be much better then the leagues worst human high light real. That's not a compliment, he was undressed almost nightly. So everyone should atleast see what Hamrlik can bring to the table. He hasn't even played a game yet.

Yashin isn't going to get signed by the habs, either is Souray, which is what i thought what this thread was. Not bashing Yashin, who doesn't even play for the habs. Yashin isn't worth 5 mill +. he does produce more then Kovalev, i'll say it again, who cares is Kovalev may produce in the playoffs. The bottom line is they need to make the playoffs first before you can bash them. Atleast Yashin made it to the playoffs. Kovalev and Souray didn't. Souray is completely over rated. At this point i would be shocked if he signs for more then 5 mill. His options keep drying up. Look for him to sign with a non-contender like the blues, oilers or soemone off the radar. He had his chance to back his mouth up, and as i predicted, he'll take the money and run. BG offer was too high i think and the habs landed a more complete player at the same offer as Souray.

I look at it is how can it get worse. I guess they could give up 50 shots a game instead of 40. The 2 things we do know about Valentenko and O'byrne in they are big, physical and are tough in there own end.

I actually heard that, it was a video link with the Habs scouts and top brass. They say he is physically ready, great skater with a hard shot. Maybe with the rise of Valentenko, O'byrne the Habs could dump some of the D who just don't cut. (maybe my pipe dream) but playing 2 rookies couldn't make it worse. It is on tsn. It's off to the right side.
