We've seen toughness throught this camp but i didn't see a new identity. Those 5 games were a complete waste of valuable time to mold a team. Whatever the lines nobody has an idea of his role on a trio, or who swapt position with the D man. Starting tomorrow i would like to see every day the same lines that will be there This is not a team right now this is a bunch of players looking at each other, no wonder no forward scores. And on D, nobody knows who's gonna play L or R yet... Best news would be to send them all Sergei K, Paccioretti, Maxwell, Subban, Weber in Scotland while keeping the most experience players here and try to build something.

Philippe Lefebvre can be on this breakthrought season with all the leaders gone in Drummondville. He was a second pick overall in the LHJMQ so it's not a bad guess, i was deceived at his numbers when i saw him but he was stuck behind very good players with more experience. Coach Boucher developped his all around play now he's the main guy there, expect him to have a huge upgrade in points.

anyway... Having the pressure to be the best defensemen is enough for Markov, a A for respect but the C should go to Josh Gorges. He's been a captain in his junior days and won Memorial, never been drafted but overcome the odds and he is from what i saw on the ice a team player. Never gives up, never complain and is accustomed to Montreal now. More so i think it would give an edge to his game.

One story this morning about Komisarek at Team USA camp made it clear that he guaranteed his place in Vancouver with a contract with the Leafs not by his play. I do not agree on the logic that D'Agostini and Sergei K will be given the chance to perform because they produce some points at the AHL level. If they are not use on the power play wich is highly probable they will not bring anything else to to challenge the other team. Kostitsyn fancy play doesn't work with cement hand of Laraque on the 4th line. Maybe Paccioretti did not rack a lot of points but when it's needed, he throws checks and hustle to create something, he learned to play defensively while learning to play at the pro level. He is way more useful to wear down the opponent than the two players mentionned before. And yes he can score he has a good set of hands. I expect Sergei K to be traded somewhere down the road. It's not like they are the Sedins. Keep D'Agostini he doesn't cost much, good back up, and there is a possibility that he could click with a good passer fot a streak.

The big body with scoring potential for the third line could be elsewhere, let's say Mike Grier. Latendresse could give some weight to the second line and make Andrei Kostitsyn that he is no small player.

Why would San Jose need Andrei Kostitsyn when they can offer Milan Michalek to Ottawa, similar numbers and contracts. If they want to unload Chechoo they could trade him for a prospect. Then they save some $$.

It's disccussion threads, if you consider idiots all the people who wished something else would have happened, then you need to take a break and see the whole picture yourself. Yes Bob and the management team made radiacal changes but all the players they got were not their first choice, they were for the most the best options available when they had the money to spend. Most of the choice were not their first wish, Lecavalier was plan A not Gomez and everything change from there. Only time will tell what good comes out of it and if we lose players for nothing again and people still say Bob is great no Bob is not great he is a 2 way GM. For me both Tanguay and Lang were rental player. They both gave 1 good year in exchange of draft picks. I prefer this to a rental player just for the playoffs that goes away and us losing a draft pick for a brief stint in the playoffs. This said i prefer Cammelleri and Spacek for approx the same money we paid Lang and Tanguay last year. And this didn't cost a draft pick.

Latendresse made a clear statement that Montreal is where he wants to play. Accepting this small contract does not mean he should not be re signed if he continue to develop in the current year. Just hard to know what is long term value is. But has soon as they know they should lock up for long.

What's the point of cleaning house if a player who was part of the problem as the same problems than last year ? If he shuts his big mouth and drops hit when he has to he shall stay, if not get rid of the guy.
