I think no. And one of Commandant's points is that he will not get any better sitting in the press box at Bell Centre. If we want him to be a legitimate NHL player, he needs to do his time in the AHL first.
Indeed there was a fairly long dry spell. Caufield and Hutson are good portents, and hopefully a few more of the recent late picks can turn into gems yet. As Commandant said, it's necessary in order to sustain a position of strength.
Looking at the season in two segments so far:
First 28 games: 14 minors (not counting majors as they typically don't cause a power play)
Last 28 games: 7 minors
It seems that there is some improvement.
Kind of like Armia? He did the mental health work he needed but never really talked about it to the media.
One the other hand, the media is certainly far more interested in talking to Slafkovsky than Armia ...
