  1. I think the big question will be whether he thinks he can crack the Habs' lineup (whether immediately or later) or whether he worries about getting stuck in Laval. Sweden is probably preferable to riding the bus for the Rocket at $70K/year.
  2. Joshua Roy is still out of action, and so is Martin St-Louis. Will Struble and Ylonen sit in the press box again? Check here tomorrow to find out that answer and more.
  3. Jake Allen lent a helping hand! 😂
  4. That's also his third game-winning goal in four playoff games. Let's hope he makes the move to Canada after the season is over.
  5. That +46 was on a Bulldogs team that finished the season with a +89 goal differential, whereas the Rocket is currently at -9. And that, too, will impact an individual player's +/- score.
  6. If St-Louis won’t give him ice time then there is little point in doing that. Although he’d likely at least do better than Anderson …
  7. Odds are stacked against it but there is always hope!
  8. I count myself lucky that the Mrs doesn't demand it! My mother-in-law needs one channel but fortunately we can pick that up with an inexpensive indoor antenna. 🙂 Otherwise all we have is Sportsnet (for me) and Prime at the moment.
  9. Yes. Although it did require also having the cable package! But when many people spend $100+/mo on cable, I'm very happy with $200/year. And streaming is more flexible than cable, which has value for me personally at least.
  10. You can get Sportsnet for $200 if you call them in September and complain.
  11. We are in the same city, so, yes! Although I have cable package anyway. 🙂 I do think that there would be a fair number of games not shown in eastern Ontario, though. Maybe?
  12. $200 for the full season of Habs games (on Sportsnet) is reasonable for me. Less than $3/game and no blackouts.
  13. Two points for Anderson! Oh, you said Andersson, never mind ... Anyway, a nice debut for Reinbacher. And no attacks by the "AHL meatheads"?
  14. He might even be able to improve his skating. (Armia, for example, has trained multiple summers with an olympic speed skater, and it has improved his speed. Kotkaniemi, on the other hand, pooh-poohed that idea ...)
  15. Sorry, I snipped a bit too much. that's xGF% (expected goals for percentage). xGF% does depend on the opposition so Suzuki's number should not be directly compared to White's, for example, but, as a team, the Habs are all clustered far lower than they would be after most games.
  16. Reasonably speaking, few Habs played a great game last night, Armia was far from the only one. From moneypuck.com:
  17. Third line is probably the most appropriate place for him, with the ability to move temporarily up to second in case of injuries (like now). At $3.4M overpaid for that role, but with a more modest contract he would still be a credible middle-six winger, I think.
  18. Yes, media and fan pressure. And, yes, relatively high taxes (though Quebec's income tax rate really isn't much different from that of NYC). But also a young team on the rise. A city that loves hockey. A hall-of-fame coach. An unmatched heritage. A respected GM that treats players well. A safe city to bring up a family in. Really, it's not all negative. What the final score will be is heavily dependent on the player's priorities.
  19. Anderson really is not Monahan, though. Monahan made his linemates better, while Anderson ...
  20. Have you not noticed our second line's (Roy, Newhook and--yes--Armia) play recently? It's the best it has been since the Dach injury, and the coaching staff has been rewarding it with more ice time, too.
  21. Based on how he has been playing, and his recent line assignments, I really don't thing Anderson is any kind of lock for the second line. Either Roy or Armia would be ahead of him already, maybe even RHP. Anderson played 12:41 against the Oilers, much less than Armia (18:40) or Newhook (17:40). Even Gallagher got more ice time than Anderson.
  22. Oof ... that's a definite downgrade for Roy. And Armia, too, although he might be able to work with Evans (whom he plays with on PK anyway) and Gallagher. But with Gallagher and Anderson on the roster, "ideal" may not be possible anyway.
  23. Still down 1-0 halfway through the game but I'm quite pleased with how they are playing. Will watch this power play in the faint hope of seeing them score, and then it's time for me to zzzz.
  24. I expect he'll be back on the right side in the longer term, maybe even next year, but I think Hughes and St-Louis want him to have the flexibility to play on the right when it's needed due to injuries or otherwise.
