  1. Well were chasing again as we're down by 1 after the first period. The Leafs goal was a bit of a fluke. I thought that Desharnais has been one of the Habs best forwards thus far. Gallagher also seems to have a bit of jump. The Markov and Weber pairing has looked alright so far. Kinda frustrated with Weber on the powerplay at the end of the period. We win the faceoff and get possession to start the powerplay but a pass from Markov gets fumbled out of the zone by Weber and we never gain possession in the Leafs zone for the rest of the period.
  2. Not for sure the official line-up but that is what they practiced with yesterday. Ya that fourth line wont scare anyone. Hopefully just showcasing ahead of the trade deadline for the players that will be included in the deal to make the financial terms work. There is also talk of Julien splitting up the top duo of Emelin and Weber who are a minus 7 over their last 7 games. Julien said "Nothing’s set in stone here" when asked about those two.
  3. I guess good for Samuelsson as he will be properly utilized on the Charlotte Checkers considering his dad Ulf Samuelsson is the head coach.
  4. Pateryn takes Nesterov's spot in the line-up tonight. That makes sense considering Nesterov only played 12 minutes last game. Don't really get the thought of Pateryn being available however. Unless Bergevin has another move up his sleeve we don't have anyone capable of playing 7th defenceman. We saw that it really didn't work with Redmond which is why he's in the AHL. Guess we could always call up superstar Johnston.
  5. How about Jacob de la Rose and a later draft pick for Patrick Sharp? UFA at seasons end and isn't have a great year due to injuries. May come cheap enough. He's still a top six left winger at this point. I see that as the type of move Bergevin would make since it wont mortgage the future and he has familiarity with Sharp. Now does it truly address our needs? Not really but don't know if there truly is a way to do so unless you overpay.
  6. Few notes from both Bergevin's conference and Julien's teleconference today: - Habs asked permission to speak to Gallant but never actually talked to him. He was likely plan B if it didn't work out with Julien - Change was likely going to be made regardless of Julien's status - Julien gets a five year deal which is on top of the rest of this season - Bergevin said he won't mortgage future to make deals to win now. He specifically mentioned Sergachev as the future
  7. Good on them to get the guy they wanted and I am sure the feeling was mutual. I wonder who those other teams were?
  8. He's still under contract with Boston. Coaches aren't really fired but more just relieved of their duties. They are still owed the balance of their contract. So they could technically block him signing somewhere else. When he signs with another team however they don't owe him the balance of the contract. That's the way I understand it at least.
  9. I have money on Carbonneau as the replacement when it happens. I'm sensing a pattern
  10. Pretty huge news. Surprised Boston would allow that. Good thing they got rid of the compensation rule. Julien is a hell of a coach. I doubt the Habs make this move if he wasn't on the market.
  11. That's the most lost I've ever seen Price on a goal. Pretty bad that were now down by 1.
  12. They are definitely proving your terrible luck. Don't see us coming back from 3 down.
  13. Ya it was pretty bad. All they had to do was eat some clock and then put three more on the board. Bet that will hurt for a long time but sure made a great Super Bowl. Though the Falcons play calling was terrible especially at the end, full props have to be given to the Patriots. Coming back from 25 points is no easy feat especially when you consider it was midway through the third quarter. Most teams would have given up. In my mind one of the greatest Super Bowls of all-time. Though I know its a bit of a partial opinion and some may say just cause of recent events, but I believe Brady to be the greatest QB to ever play the game.
  14. I'll be cheering on the Patriots. I'm a big Michigan fan so that in turn that means I'm a Brady fan. At 39 there can't be too many more opportunities to further cement his legacy. Even though the Pats should win, I have a feeling in my gut that the Falcons offence will be too powerful and will sneak away with the win.
  15. Well good on Montoya to earn the shutout. Too bad he can't pick up the win as well. Something has to give for this squad. Scoring and shooting has vanished as of late
  16. Well at least we got a point. Can we steal the second? McDavid will be extremely dangerous in 3 on 3
  17. Brian Flynn is a healthy scratch while Desharnais makes his return to the line-up. Not sure about their predictions of him a center and Galchenyuk to the left side but we'll see during the game. Danault was a game time decision but will play.
  18. It would be awesome if we could have both Barberio and Redmond down in the AHL. Would help the team tremendously and would give us some decent call-ups if need be. Unfortunately I don't think we'll get as lucky as with Barberio as we were with Redmond. I assume some team will make a claim. I guess teams could also be looking at former Habs Tom Gilbert (also on waivers) at the same time but he's not having a great season and has a bigger cap hit.
  19. Makes sense and cost nothing. They don't seem to be huge fans of Redmond so more depth is always good. He's only 23
