  1. One of the oilers bloggers was suggesting a trade of Subban for Yakupov. I have seen lots of posts about how Subban should only be traded for the likes of Malkin, Stamkos etc, but if negotiations with Subban are not going well, would you consider this trade? It could potentially set our top line for the next decade. (null)
  2. What do you guys think about Eric Fehr? 1st rd pick (18th overall) Is definitely a big body and had bad luck with injuries. Currently UFA and could probably be had cheaply. According to TSN plays both RW and LW. (null)
  3. Hope there is a preseason lol. Would be just our luck to have a short season which becomes a sprint. With a new coach and no settled lines, would make things a bit tricky. (null)
  4. You're probably right. I just thought if he's going to move there someday, why not now? Especially as I don't think we're contenders this year. (null)
  5. Alot of people have suggested that Desharnais will eventually move to the wing. Is there anything wrong with "eventually" being this season? Of course with the current roster that would mean either Gomez or Galy make the team out of camp. (null)
  6. Yes he was, but I'm not sure if I would put him in the same category as Nash, Parise or Sutter. It's not so much the individual players, just the fact the teams I mentioned above always seem to be in the hunt. Us, not so much. (null)
  7. That's the trouble. For every Wiz that has worked, there has been a Gomez, Bourque or Kaberle that hasn't. We always seem worried that if we dump our bad contracts no one will come here and yet still no one comes. Probably frustration talking at the moment but I wish we could be in the running for elite talent. Not just looking for reclamation projects. (null)
  8. I'll start this off by saying I'm no cap expert, but I really don't get how every year teams like Philly, Detroit and the Rangers manage to be in on all the big signings and we seem to always be up against the cap. The rangers have Gborak, Lundquist, Richards and now Nash, but apparently still have plenty of cap space to chase Doan and yet if we manage to sign Subban we have some spare change to spend on a depth forward or Dman. It seems the same every year. The only conclusion I can make is that either we are really crap at cap management or Philly, Detroit and the Rangers are really good. I would never change alliegences, but I sometimes wonder how much fun it would be to be a fan of one of the teams I mentioned, as they always seem to be in the running for whatever free agent is the flavour of the day, whereas we seem to spend to the cap but can never seem to build a team that starts as favourites or anywhere near it. Sorry for the rant but it dosn't seem right.
  9. So seeing as we made the playoffs 2 out of last 3 years we would only get one ball? Too bad, as I thought it could be a silver lining to a lockout although I doubt any lockout would wipe out the whole season. (null)
  10. If the upcoming season was lost due to a lockout, would we get the 3rd pick in next years draft? (null)
  11. Why would you do that? Is it because of faceoffs, or team needs. Or is it easier to start on the wing? Just wondering why you would play a natural center on the wing (null)
  12. I think he'd be great at the right price. He can play on any of the top 3 lines and from memory he was scoring at a good pace in Minnesota before he got hurt. (null)
  13. Sure hope this doesn't translate into our draft picks all being French Canadian. Not worried about our top pick, but can just imagine us drafting Quebec kids over more talented others. (null)
  14. I can't help feeling this is a backward step. I personally would have liked Roy despite his inexperience as it just felt the time was right for a fresh start and new ideas and passion. Will at least get passion with Therrien but not sure about the rest. Hopefully I'm wrong. (null)
  15. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what sort of money the front office staff make? I imagine it would vary from team to team, but as an example what sort of dollars does a GM, an Assistant GM, a director of Player Development and a Coach make. Doesn't have to be exact, but just curious if its in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, or the millions of dollars range. Thanks in advance.
  16. Eklund gets a hard time on this site, and as far as his predictions go and his claims of inside knowledge, rightly so. However I think he should get some credit for getting some excellent bloggers to contribute to his site. I go there quite often, especially when there is a trade involving the Habs or a post game review from the other teams bloggers point of view. I also just like some of his bloggers like Richard Cloutier and Travis Youst because they are quite funny. Anyways, will probably get ripped a new one for this blasphemy, but I do quite like his site if you use it as interesting reading about all teams, rather than an accurate guide of the future - bank that as an E5 lol.
  17. No but I don't remember him winning that many either. (null)
  18. I liked him because he actually won a fight or two. It's all well and good to have guys like Moen and White who will fight, but it's so much better for my moral (and I assume his teammates) to see someone win. I don't want another BGL so Staubitz or someone like him is fine by me. (null)
  19. I don't agree with you at all on this. A month ago, most people on these boards were saying one of the big problems with Gauthier was his lack of class (firing Coaches and Assistants just before games, trading players during games etc) You are suggesting that the first thing Bergevin should do as a new GM is take Dudley from the Leafs when they have asked us not to until after the draft (a reasonable request if he has been heavily involved in their draft planning) I know you can argue its just a business and the Leafs should suck it, but I'm sure you could argue the same way for the Cammalleri trade which most of us hated the way it was done. I dislike the Leafs as much as anyone, but I would like the HAB's to be classy and respect their wishes in this case.
  20. This rumor dosn't make sense to me. Why would they do this before the new GM has even been shown his desk and before the new coach is appointed? Don't get me wrong, I am fine with them buying out Gomez but only if it is endorsed by the new GM and to a lesser extent the new coach. The timing of this makes me think it is wishfull thinking. (null)
  21. What if Pittsburg goes out in the first round? Is Bylsma available too? (null)
  22. Sorry but this discussion is probably my fault. I thought he was getting about $1m per season and on that basis thought he might have been worth keeping. Apparently though, we had to offer $2m at which point my argument goes out the window. (null)
  23. True, but for around $1m per season those are pretty cheap points especially for a guy who can play top 6 when needed. Although I get your point that he probably wouldn't get those points with the habs. (null)
  24. Slightly off topic, but does anyone else think we shouldn't have let Pouliot go so soon? He seems to be having a good season with the bruins. Is that just because they are a better team or do you think he is just maturing and playing to his potential? I would have liked us to have stuck with him a bit longer. (null)
