  1. Radulov's signing confirmed by Canadiens post on Facebook. We got a forward! Yea! Now can Bergevin please explain how or why we were not able to get at least one of Nashville's good young forwards in the Subban deal to compensate for Webbers age and contract? After a few days still hate the trade for the reasons I stated in the Writers Weigh in and only the Cup will restore for me any confidence or optimism in Habs management. That seems unlikely, as rIght now it looks like they are making it up as they go along but at least they didn't sign Ladd or Lucic for 7 years! Cold comfort but at least I am not an Oilers fan
  2. I can't believe you, or any real Habs fan, likes this deal today. I would love to be proven wrong and for Weber to lead les Canadiens to a Cup, but until that happens I am convinced that this is a bad, potentially disatourous trade. A player with PK's potential should have brought back at least another player and a prospect to hedge againstWebbers decline. Unless Weber is the reincarnation of Jagr and Howe we are F**ked for the last 5-7 yrs of this disastrous contract. My only hope is that PK doesn't win the cup in Nashville and Webbers retirement in 5yrs screws the preds with cap recapture penalties. At 49, my dream has long been to celebrate my centenary, Canada's bicentennial and a century of the Leafs not winning the Cup. Never before had it occurred to me that Mtl might never again win the SC in my lifetime. So sick of Mtl making desperate, questionable trades.
  3. I could stomach a Subban trade, be we they just took on a 10 year contract on a 30 yr old defenseman and got nothing, nothing additional back in the deal. This reminds me so much of the Chelios for Savard deals and the Roy trade I think I am going to be sick.
  4. I'm lost for words. I cant believe that this is true. I can't see any scenario in which this is a good deal for montreal. # whendoesbergevingetfired?
  5. He is only 17 it is possible he might grow
  6. Bergevin' s mantra on a potential Subban trade had better be "Not enough!" Draisital and 4th pfft. Ridiculous!!!! I am sure that EDM would not have turned that down.
  7. Not a chance in the world. Taylor Hall, their 4th and Yak for PK and a second and we could begin the conversation. The idea of trading PK is we have to win and win big---now and in the future; otherwise there is no point in doing it. That's why a PK trade is highly unlikely at best.
  8. Why? If we were to take Hartnel, a 2nd or better yet a 3rd round pick would be enough due to his contract.
  9. Vincent might fit the bill as well. It just bothers me that there is no obvious successor to MT in the system and I would prefer we have a veteran coach in the wings in preparation for MT's inevitable departure. I think anyone of the guys I named would take a jobs with the Habs given the right incentives
  10. I think you are misunderstanding me. I am suggesting that the Canadiens add an experienced, French speaking coach to the staff to help with the power play. They could be a consultant a la Craig Ramsey, I don't care, but we need Therrien replacements in the system for the short and long term
  11. I understand that your post is true for most organizations Don, but long-term successful organizations e.g., Detroit work at these details. Also, I don't understand why you think this should be the case? Montreal limits themselves to bilingual (preferably Francophone) coaches so they have a vested interest in expanding the pool of potential coaches. I am thinking long-term here as the number of bilingual coaches appears to be decreasing. My argument for Boucher, Crawford or Hartley to be on the staff now is a separate argument for the team to be prepared for the immediate future. What if the team tanks again for the start of next season? Will Therrien's job still be safe? I doubt it and it only makes sense to be prepared.
  12. I said in a podcast before and I said on the forums: I thought that Therrien should, and would, be fired for his failure to adapt his system to his players and for a lamentable, putrid, power play over multiple seasons. Given that this did not happen, I think MB has to do everything in his power to add a legitimate replacement for Therrien right now. IMHO, we should sign one or more of Boucher, Crawford or Hartley. Otherwise, the inexplicable Sylvain Lefebvre is theoretically the next coach of Les Habitant and I don't think even the most ardent Therrien hater wants that. While Bergevin has been harshly criticized, I think most fans overlook his most obvious failing which is to develop a succession plan for the head coaching position given the unique constraints the Canadiens put on themselves in terms of hiring coaching talent. I believe that Therrien's successor should be on the staff or in St. Johns' right now. Further, MB should be spending some of Molson's money to sign up and coming young Francophone coaches to right of first refusal deals. Finally, if you are the greatest franchise in hockey and you limit your organization to bilingual candidates then it behooves the organization to become adept at developing elite coaching talent.
  13. Only if EDM won the lottery again would this be even close to enough. Subban trade would have to be a steal for MTL or not worth doing
  14. Obviously, if they are going to re-sign Weise it should be for the 3rd line with occasional, injury fill-in gusts, up to the second line. I agree with Francois Gagnon who is absolutely in favor of Weise coming back after other more urgent needs are dealt with
  15. Gonchar not only played reasonably well for us, he also was a valuable mentor/voice of reason/professional example for Nate B. Not a waste at all.
  16. I guess we can agree to disagree... one point of clarification, I was not referring to the entertainment value of Scott punching out an opposition player, but the entertainment of the story itself--although I would make an exception if we were playing Boston. In fact, I am sorry that MTL got involved in this whole sorry story at all, but not playing Scott when it doesn't matter would make Les Canadiens look worse, IMHO
  17. BC I think you have it right on. The only way to erase the stain on the CH from getting involved in the league machinations around Scott is to let him play. I actually think it reflects well on the franchise. And, it will make a hell of an end to the movie. CC, while I agree with your assessment of the season which is all that more bitter due to the scintillating start (Gallivan reference deliberate) your assessment of Scott is a little harsh. He has dealt with a difficult situation with aplomb and deserves a final curtain call. After all, we can use all the entertainment/feel good stories we can get from this season of merde.
  18. Never, my son said that and I made him wash his mouth out with soap?
  19. Gents before we get too upset about the DSP trade, consider that his shooting % is currently over 42%. Does anyone think he will be able sustain that?
  20. Nice one. Didn't mean to repeat myself---not Alzheimer's, just posting using my cell phone.
  21. I swore that I wouldn't' watch until they were on a 2 game winning streak. But, apparently my addiction runs too deep. Win this and they are only 3 points out of a playoff spot. Go Habs Go
