  1. i was ecstatic last pre season when bgl was signed. since then, he has morphed into a slow, injury plagued, polititcally correct agitator.we need someone who truly detests the other teams, who has a real snarl and bite to them. bgl seemed too friendly, especially to lucic. doubt that nilan or john ferguson would have been so kind.in my limited nhl world view, if you run the smaller skilled players, then you better be ready to throw down when big brother comes calling.ah but what the heck, the nhl is more like ice capades these days anyway.if bgl is not ready for the start of the season, then shut him down and get alex henry ready. we have to have some kind of backbone.
  2. i love bgl, but he doesn't have a mean streak, which we will most definitely need against the leafs and bruins. never saw kordic, nilan or ewen making nice to the opposing teams. bgl should have unloaded on lucic last season. if he comes to camp injured or out of shape then he has to go. as for now, we need the nuclear deterrent.
  3. plek just needs to get off to a good start. last year he struggled early on, and never really righted himself.i fully expect several short handed goals from him, and just wish he had that killer instinct to just bury the puck.give him a chance to rebound. if he continues to struggle, then it will be easy for gainey to move him.
  4. so much for the youth movement. looks like gainey has been given a mandate to win now, no more 5 year plans.mara and moen both have size, so the habs should be able to easily hold their own with the big imposing, but plodding leafs.moen can certainly take care of business, when necessary. just ask shea weber.
  5. how long will it take the fans to run gill out of town after inept play???i still think that kovalev stirs the drink. hope they can find a way, but it doesn't look good. still not happy about spacek and gill. o'byrne can do anything that gill can do, for much less.and there is a reason the panthers were so willing to let vanilla martin go .i hope this all works out, but i guess i'll have to hold my breath. like gen. custer, this is gainey's last stand.first regular season games against the leafs and bruins, i believe, will go a long way in showing habs fans what (not) to expect for the year.what's a habfan to do in the heat of south florida???a loooong summer ahead.
  6. IF HE CAN BE HAD ON THE CHEAP, THEN SIGN HIM. STILL HAS HIS LEGS AND CAN PLAY ANYWHERE.VERY SMART AND VERY STEADY, IMHO.
  7. hopefully this will be more of a TEAM. the k brothers need to clean up after last season. and with higgins gone, perhaps gorges and price can study opposing teams at nite instead of beer bottles.i wish kovy and beachemin could be added. still feel we need more grit on defense.with henry resigned for next year, he's just a call up away.still not happy with martinas coach. hopefully the gainey/martin tandem will be short lived.i would imagine if this ufa blitz doesn't work out, then bg will be cleaning his desk out at some point next year.hard to figure the psych of this team right now. think they'll either be real ggod, or real bad, with no middle ground.i think the key players this year could be the k bros and plek.if plek can bury most of his many chances, we'll be fine. so many IFS.......
  8. one pylon replaces another pylon.won't miss komi, even if he is from long island.watch toskala's gaa really balloon now.
  9. so i guess this means no kovi or beauchenin??? at the end of the day what did bob really acomplish. more small forwards to try to go up against the beefed up leafs and bruins.bgl had better come out of training camp in top shape. still waiting for that big centre from outer space.does gainey REALLY have a clue. nice players, hopefully more offense, but gill and spacek???very, very puzzling.
  10. hey komi, you still have to face lucic 6 times, and, guess what, bgl will be gunning for you. escape to phoenix while you can.habs should fill the net against the loafs when that pylon is on the ice.
  11. i'd be more inclined to go after chad larose. great character guy, has some grit, plus he's an former everblade.
  12. hossa hands down. havlat is getting banged up. gaborik is also brittle, plus he seems to not always show up. i imagine gainey would be taking gab on walks by the river with kovy quite often. great talent when he wants to show it.
  13. let him go. yes we'll miss his grit (except when lucic is on the ice), but his speed and erratic play in the defensive zone have not diminished with time. if he goes, then gainey has to make a hard pitch for beauchemin.
  14. why would gainey wait until sept. or october to swing a deal for vinny???hopefully, he'll be in another place.i loved the player in gainey, who would take no prisoners and hit with reckless abandon. why then has he morphed into this lifeless form??? him and martin actually are perfectly suited for each other.yes, its going to be a long winter. centre bell can start booking large weddings for april 2010.
  15. enough. mckee??? is that what all the ufa fuss is all about? mckee has basically been overated for much of his nhl shelf life.lets get beauchamin, who has a decent shot, and enough grit to handle the big boys in the east. really, if bgl does not have groin/back problems, it might open some ice for the "skilled players".
  16. any day now, he'll re-sign brisebois.what IS this man thinking. only another day left to ponder the future
  17. HELL NO. NOT EVER. JUST LOOK AT HOW THE SHARKS FOLDED IN THE 1ST ROUND. ON THE OTHER HAND, MAYBE HE WOULD FIT RIGHT IN.
  18. gagne and briere are both risky propositions.briere blew the habs off once. i would imagine the reception he would get if a slow start ensues.gagne perhaps. tell briere to keep looking.things aren't looking so good, but there is still some time. didn't our wonderful gm preach PATIENCE???????
  19. briere??? don't we have enough briere type players now???i'm not convinced gainey can make any kind of deal with anyone. a rather dismal draft. when will the new owners get rid of him? he was a great player, but his total image is being tarnished with every passing day.i don't know what big centre he thinks he can get in sept. or october, unless he has a u.f.o. or two.
  20. forget all these films. the twilight zone marathon starts thursday in the states.maybe gainey can watch it while all his ufa's are signing elsewhere.
  21. agree 100%. lucic is definitely in komi's head. let him walk. lets get beauchamin from the ducks, and maybe neil from the sens , and pray that bgl is healthy enough to wreak havoc against the bruins AND leafs.someone needs to teach lucic a lesson next year.nilan or kordic would have taken care of business already.
  22. i agree about j-bo. seems very reserved and shy. and please, no thornton. we have enough players who don't show up at crunch time.
  23. hamrlik seemed to be fighting his game all season and never looked quite right. as for komi, if he thinks he's worth what he's asking, then let him walk.as for all the propects, lets get them up here. the 86 habs, of which gainey was a member, had a large contingent of rookies who in a large way, helped them win the cup. while i am not suggesting the same scenario, its time to groom some of them. the defense seemed very slow last year.
  24. komi needs to go somewhere so lucic won't be looming over his shoulder. komi had little of the mean streak shown in previous years, and his giveaways were classic. as for gainey, it will be interesting to see 21,273 gms in attendance evaluate his performance on draft day. don't think he'll be universally welcomed on fri. nite. as for martin, the less said the better. i think the panthers were happy to be rid of him.hopefully the new ownership will politely ask them to clean out their offices.
