  1. Petry is being very un-Petry like so far, couple mistakes.
  2. Wouldn't a move like that start creating cap space?
  3. That’s probably the real truth, but he is a RFA, he has almost no leverage in this situation. Worse case for him is he doesn’t get played, Canadiens offer him a deal, he rejects it, they qualify him and it’s up to arbitration. Demanding a trade does nothing good for his career, just makes teams leery on him because doing very little when given the opportunity then complaining when it’s taken away doesn’t usually sit well in the locker room.
  4. While one could argue Romanov is only playing slightly better than Mete, I wouldn’t argue that but someone may, Romanov’s ceiling is much higher. I would much rather go through growing pains with a better defenceman on a team like this than give into Mete. If Julien is real generous, he could give Mete tonight’s game to prove he is better than Kulak. If he can’t prove that, then he sits out until an injury occurs.
  5. The post game press conference when asked if his agent asked for a trade, he responded with “I’d rather not talk about the situation,” and then snickered while looking visibly annoyed. He should have a word with Drouin about how well this power play works out.
  6. Mete let the pass through on both of those goals. He if he’s going to the back of the net to play the man, he better be on the man when he gets the puck, or be ready to cut off the pass when he didn’t make it. He did neither. Yes, on both cases there was a player open in the slot, but Mete has the responsibility to cut the pass off to the slot.
  7. So, for Mete wanting ice time, both goals against tonight he was influential on both. I don't see why he would be in the lineup tomorrow night.
  8. If Mete wants to stay in the lineup, he isn't showing it this game.
  9. There are ways to watch it, but not allowed to post it here.
  10. "The number 1 offense in the NHL." Let that sink in.
  11. It’s a different game than it was in the 80s as well with the NHL trying to enforce the rule of law, really poorly, and not the players. Repeat offender and intent to injure cracks down on retaliation more than the inciting incident. In 80’s hockey, Chiarot could of tossed his glove off and wailed on Dube with the intent of breaking his face and then played after his 5 minute penalty. Dube would of learned if I wanna hit like that, it’s gonna hurt, maybe even lost a couple games with facial injuries. With the rule changes, if a player is notorious for standing up for his teammates, he’s a repeat offender, which only comes into play because of the unwilling participant rule. Now coupled with intent to injure, that sequence turns from a 5 minute fighting major to each player, into a multi-game suspension for Chiarot and name put on the repeat offender list. I've said it before and I’ll say it again, if they wanted hits like these out of the game, increase suspensions, change the language to in control over that action not intent to injure, and stop looking at the result instead of looking at the action.
  12. If he’s slotting in tonight, this is his chance to keep himself in the lineup. I can’t stress that enough, he needs to play well enough that it’s a downgrade to have him sit. His playing future this year starts with tonight’s game.
  13. As harsh as this is, it's not the worst idea. I don't understand this by Mete. The kid was given ALL the chances in the world. He came up and played big minutes on the top pair with Weber to mold him into a need. He didn't progress as well as needed. He was bumped up and down the pairings to help the kid and team along and he just didn't step up. So instead of the team waiting on him, they go out and improve, and bring in another kid that is better than Mete, so Mete loses his spot. He effectively played himself into the 7th D role and now is requesting a trade? Injuries will happen and he will play, but right now this just sounds like entitlement. For this, I mirror CC's stance on this.
  14. Dube was aiming high. He starts by coasting, goes into full stride prior to the hit and instead of trying to check through the body, he directs his momentum upwards. The hit may of been with his hand/forearm, but it was still aimed high.
  15. My apologies, I didn't know of this tradition. I will edit my original post removing the comment so it appears you are falsely accusing me, but I'll only do it after the game in case of a loss.
  16. Sportsnet is picking Montreal to represent the north division in the conference final/semi-finals. They also have Montreal listed as a legitimate contender. It’s only 6 games in the season, but they sure do look good. I hope the streak can stay alive. I only really see Toronto as a challenge right now.
  17. Price has a quiet 16 save night going. This is the type of game habs need to give to him more often.
  18. Its early for Perry, but I'm not seeing anything in Armia's game that Perry isn't delivering. The sample size with this lineup is small, so it's hard to say, but if this continues Armia could become a good trade chip along with Mete to get an upgrade somewhere.
  19. Habs need to come out strong and not play like they have been off for 4 days. If they can do that, this should be a win. Oh, and stop hemorrhaging powerplays. That’s starting to get old.
  20. Montreal Gazette is reporting Danault has turned down a 5-year $25m and 6-year $30m deal from the Habs. If it’s true, shouldn’t this mean he will be dealt this season?
  21. I used to have RDS here in Edmonton, I believe it was $2 a month extra, and it was only for Habs games. Since I had center ice last year my renewal was $160. I used to get it free with my phone plan.
  22. One of the biggest draw of NYC is the division it’s normally in. Nearly all cities in that division, which they play frequently, are mere hours from their home city. So they could play a road game in New Jersey, then Philadelphia, then Pittsburgh in 6 nights and be at home with their family every night. That is why that division is one of the best in the league, it’s an attractive perk for players. As for California, Arizona and Florida, the weather is warm all year around. That is a perk for players.
