  1. can we just trade Matheson and tank once and for all. Top-5 pick (bottom-5 finish) would be really nice for the rebuild, even if they do not win the lottery
  2. Good recap Brian! https://www.habsworld.net/2024/03/habs-weekly-good-efforts-led-to-losses/
  3. I wish the Gallagher family all the best during these trying times:
  4. Happy Sunday every one, great news from two of my favorite prospects in the OHL. Future Rocket stars!
  5. Looking at the standing and reading about the NYI, I was wondering if a trade like this may work: To NYI: Armia ($3.4M/2025) and Kovacevic ($0.76) or Harris ($1.4M/2025)= $4.167M or $4.8M/2025 To MTL: Palmieri ($5.0M/2025 if MTL in trade list) 2024 1st round pick MTL gets a 1st round pick , for taking on Palmieri on the last year + this season. The Habs free a spot in the bottom pair, for a prospect next season. They also clear Armia and make room for Roy, RHP or even Ylonen. NYI gets a bit of cap relief, gets a strong defensive forward that seems to have found some scoring after what I think were concussion symptoms or some off-ice stuff (my speculation). Armia is a good PK forward and he has an excellent wrist shot that he uses far too little. He would fit well on the 3rd line for them. In this article (and others) it is mentioned that under Roy, NYI has better defended Sorokin and are lacking goals scoring. An Armia would insulate some of the young forwards they are trying to get going (Holstrom, Gauthier in the AHL, Wahlstrom) without dismantling too much their current line-up. https://theathletic.com/5274990/2024/02/14/new-york-islanders-patrick-roy/
  6. Oh goody, 😍 😍 😍 some Owen Beck love !!! 😍 😍 😍 Don;t know why it is the first name that jumped out of that list
  7. I hope Roy goes back. He has NHL potential but he would have a better development opportunity in LVL than in MTL
  8. Gallagher not at practice today, but RHP is:
  9. I agree too, since the 1st pick is late 1st round and the young player is not going to be performing at his projected peek yet.
  10. Kovacevic is performing at the level I expected. Let's say he set expectations high by having a good start with the Habs. I do not agree with your opinion on Caufield. He has been bothered by something, probably not fully recovered from the shoulder injury. He has been streaky, but overall has kept a very good point production. He has improved his overall game lile @Helmethead mentions. IMHO he is an elite 2nd line winger, capable of back-breaking goals but not physically capable of competing with the league's top-lines for a full season. On the PP, he is definitely elite.
  11. I also like how the consistency of Guhle, he is still improving but has kept a very good level all season.
  12. Nice win by teh Rocket. Dobes was very good to keep them at 0-0 in teh first half of the game. Simoneau-Maillet-Heineman Farrell-Gignac-Andersson Davidson-Stephens-Cederqvist McKay-Mysak-Légaré Trudeau-Barron P.-Bisson-Mailloux Norlinder-Galipeau Dobes Mann Farrel, Mysak and Does were really good. Two goals within a minute in the middle of the 2nd and two other within a a minute near the end of the 2md chased their goalie. First shutout for Dobes. Norlinder touched two posts and was ok. Barron tends to attack the puck carrier in the middle of the ice very aggressicely; sometimes he gets beat and needs a forward to take his spot on D. I think it is the way the Rocket plays to shut down the center of the ice, but for some reason, Barron stood out on a couple of plays where the player got past him. I did not watch the 3rd period.
  13. I like these two filtering handles: https://www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/NHL_2024.html the Simple Rating System Actual goal differential minus Expected goal differential : Habs are .500 at bad at 5-on-5, they suck on overall They complement well this graph:
  14. ah! the often dismissed but sometimes sooo telling of a teams performance ! the "+/-"
  15. I didn’t realize the expected goals for the Habs- Yotes game yesterday was predicting an ARZ win
  16. I said I would reserve my judgement of the rebuild until next year, but I have been critical lately of MSL for a few weeks now. I brought this to the forum because I am surprised so many reporters, many of which have been very forgiving of the Habs handing of the team and prospects... I am surprised to see so many of them start to grumble and voice ceoncerns. Maybe it is click bait from them (the got me if so), maybe it is a slow week leading to the trade deadline. I don;t know. I am just surprised.
  17. Multiple reporters giving their opinion on MSL's comments, that is has been the the best 5-6 game sequence of the season. I am surprised that many of hte reporters that are usually positive on MSL seem to be calling him out. The RDS panled (Damphouse, Carboneau, Flynn) compared the Habs to the PHI and how Tortorella was able to get the team to push for a playoff spot with a team as poorly staffed as MTL. They also commented on how the youngest players have made individual progress but that the veterans are not playing their best as if they are just waiting for the trade deadline. They didn't say this, I am making the leap in saying that the veterans may have checked out for this season.
  18. Fair points, I went and re-read the articles I referred to and yes Lekkerimaki is a stretch. For VAN, Savard for Mikheyev would be a better trade, it MTL is in the trading list for Mikheyev. To make it more palatable for MTL, I would want one of Raty or Hoglander coming back. So: To MTL: Mikheyev ($4.75M/to2026) Raty ($0.837M/to2025) or Hoglander ($1.1M/to3025) = $5,58M to $5.85M To VAN: Savard ( $3.5M/to2025) + Anderson (50% =$2.75M/to2027) = 6.25M and again, they can send Bains down to fit Anderson under the cap. Here is the current VAN forward group, in yellow are the players that in the Athletic they mentioned that they would want to keep, with red lines the ones that they may want to move if the offers is good to them:
  19. I would be surprised Anderson rebounds under MSL. I doubt that happens
  20. was it @Sir_Boagalott that was proposing Pezzetta to VAN? I that door is open, for a robust winger that can play minutes, then I tried to open it and see if there could be a trade. I think that Anderson at a lower cap hit would be just fine in any cup contending’s 3rd line.
