I am a bit surprised, but relieved because I do not want the CH to implode. I am ok with MB getting the chance to repair the damage done by recent errors in evaluation and losing some long-shots. +1, I heard an interview with Bobby Smith on the radio a few weeks ago, he sounded like a good candidate. I hope Molson starts looking for a plan B in case MB crashes and burns next season. +1, I posted a similar view earlier this season. I agree with you on this +1, The draft years when we did not have 2nd round drafts (from Gainey/Gauthier era) and some mistakes (like McCaron being drafted too early) play into how few prospects we have. But I think Timmins can pull it off in 2018.

I would add Delarose to that list. If he can show consistency as a third line center, it would be great.

I hope he doesn't pull a Benn and goes back to sucking next season -

The Tank continues. Thank you Lindgren, but next one don't make it that obvious -

Was trying to ignore the broken plays from the forwards and to see how Riley, Juulsen and Valiev play. Riley does not look that bad; the two others are playing like rookies but show good mobility and some potential -

I've criticized DLR for being a floater, has has been playing better lately. Reminds me of Eller -
Fucale to the rescue of the tank drive. Dive! CH, Dive!

Welcome news to Habs #tank4Dahl drive

You can do it MB!

He gets a free pass where Patches cannot sneeze without being criticized I hope we can get back to tanking next game

Retool or rebuild. That is the question?
alfredoh2009 replied to titanfan's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
There is little incentive to go through Laval for a young coach, there are better options. A seasoned Junior coach who want to be near family in Laval would be a better fit. Someone like Kilrae in Ottawa or the Hunters in London. -

French speaking front-line coaching/management is necessary in Montreal. I can live with that, it is part of the identity of the team sometimes to its detriment. That said, I think Lefèvre should be let go this year if he can be replaced with an upgrade. Specially with the 2018 draft pick coming in a couple of years; but the new coach has to be devoted to developing players and making them NHL ready -
GDT 64: Friday Night Rematch Canadiens vs Islanders

Chucky has been playing with Drouin most of the season ?! Drouin's poor defensive play and turnovers drag Chucky's play down -

watched on the PVR, they played OK. It felt like a training-camp game: lots of broken plays. Juulsen and Riley looked good. And Drouin's line was on fire! CJ 2.0 is finally yielding good performance out of the team (for 19 minutes out 20) . -
Hopefully. I do not know about Mete's waiver situation next year, but I would like Riley, Juulsen and Valiev to show they can play at the NHL level (at least on a rotation) so that Mete can have lots of icetime in Laval next year and be a waiver exempt call up all season.

Either we get a 1C or a top 4 D this summer. I do not think we can do both. My take is tonimprive scoring while Weber ca still play 30 min/game and Price is not hurt; and go for top Ds when the right player becomes available
-
I also would be ok with keeping Patches and trading Petry and one of Byron/Lehkonen instead: Pacioretty - Tavares - Gallagher Galchenyuk - Drouin - Scherbak Byron/Lehkonen - Danault - Hudon Deslauriers - De La Rose - A.Shaw Mete/Riley - Weber Alzner - Juulsen Riley/Mete - Benn Schlemko

I've said before that I am not a CJ fan. But it is becoming clear to me that he has made some positive changes to the team. Weighing everything that happened this season, CJ's has done well in restructuring the team's play and helping players who had trouble adjusting to that change. The season is a write off, but there's are some positives

Living in Ottawa since 2000, Melnik's words would make me despise the Sens if I cared. McLean and Boucher were/are pitiful. I would not be surprised if the Sens move to Quebec. Unlikely, but to me that would put an end to this sad franchise

A bit over a year later, it is clear that CJ has made a few players better ( e.g. Chucky) and based on the interview by Engles with Drouin, it seems like CJ has allowed players to learn and grow into new roles: https://mobile.twitter.com/EricEngels/status/969044132286124032/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.habsworld.net%2F https://mobile.twitter.com/EricEngels/status/969045453047259136/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.habsworld.net%2F I'll be following how he manages the call ups from now until the end of the season

I prefer what MB did in Montreal to what Dorion did in Ottawa. Having a solid revenue base and cap space gives a glimmer of hope for this summer: but the Canadiens cannot screw up like they did with Drouin!
-
I think he will be a solid 3rd but not a top 6.
-
Thanks CC.. I'll take that as a compliment
-
Wow, I really suck at being GM

I hope they are an upgrade on Schlemko and can push him out.
