  1. Given that he's signed longer.... he is 2 better for me.
  2. A deep dive into the Montreal Canadiens Prospects http://lastwordonhockey.com/2017/08/21/tsp-montreal-canadiens-prospects/
  3. I really like Pacioretty... but here is the thing. He's had 70 points... 0 times Backstrom has been over 70... 6 times, including the last four seasons in a row. He had 86 points last year. This isn't a knock on Pacioretty to say Nicklas Backstrom is just better.
  4. Personally I think Backstrom, not Ovechkin, was Washington's best player last season. I don't see them giving him up.
  5. Id do the trade cause backstrom is a top notch centre. Washington wouldnt.
  6. Yes, he's worth a gamble. Reports indicated that the Habs were interested in him earlier in the summer. But all has gone quiet.
  7. 3 picks. One of those picks is tied up in the Drouin trade. If Sergachev doesn't play 40 games, we owe Tampa a second.
  8. Toninato signed with the Avs... 2 year ELC
  9. No, he's not that. He's a third pairing guy. He's got holes in his game. I'd sign him cause he can play and he's a free asset, but he's not a top four solution.
  10. He spends the majority of his offseason in Miami..... with some time visiting family in Belarus, but mostly Miami.
  11. The Russian takeover of the United States is not complete..... Milwaukee, Wisconsin is still part of the USA as of now.
  12. That site is the absolute worst for clickbait.... every article.
  13. Makes no sense to trade the team's top scorer for a prospect D and a pick.
  14. I think Tavares has had huge upheaval on his wings in New York. Ladd replacing Okposo didn't work and was a significant downgrade and that has effected his overall production. Thats why they went out and got Eberle this off-season.
  15. Way too much.... way too much. He'll be 37 before the season starts. We'd be giving up a very promising young player and 2 first rounders. I'm fine with trading that, but not for a guy who is 37.
  16. the Habs are the third highest revenue generating club in the NHL... when the Can Dollar is high, they are second. There is no issue with having the money to spend to the cap... they have spent to the cap every year.
  17. Yes. It will be between him and makar at minimum for the role of leading the pp. And moving the puck. Its also possible they keep both
  18. There were no cuts from canada yesterday though. It didnt happen.
  19. 8.5 million in cap space at the deadline is worth 36 million in full season deals. No one needs that kind of space.
  20. They had 2 practices a day for the first two days. They played 2 games in 1 day on the third day They now are playing 1 game in a day going forward. They haven't made any cuts... they are rotating through the 40 guys.
  21. I don't see any cuts Where are you seeing this. I thought he just didn't play today cause they are rotating the squad to see everyone.
  22. Lots of defencemen can handle the PK. Heck, on the PK, Benn is almost as good as Weber. At 5v5 or PP Benn isn't close... but just PK work, he's close. Alzner is also going to be a good PKer, and so is Schlemko. Not as many can do what Shea Weber does on the PP. PP are also much easier, much, much easier minutes on a defenceman's body than PK minutes are... (no blocking shots, no chasing the puck, Weber isn't battling in front of the net on the PP). Basically if you want to cut a defenceman's minutes, PP is never the area that should be cut.
  23. Giroux to me is in a Gomez situation. That contract with 5 years and 8 million on it is looking like an albatross. His points have gone down 4 years in a row. He didn't crack 60 points last year. He did nothing 5v5 and feasted on the PP. I think his value is really diminished by that deal. I wouldn't give up more for him than the Penguins gave up for Kessel... in fact it would be less than what was given for Kessel. Scherbak, Lernout, 1st.
