  1. They weren't getting worse... they played a good game against philly and were a bit unlucky to lose that one; getting completely jobbed out of a goal.
  2. I really don't want McGuire. Like really don't want that guy. Too reactionary.
  3. If Gainey comes back, its probably only to finish the season and to trade guys for draft picks. Then the new GM starts in June.
  4. Wait... you want a top 10 pick for a guy with a career high of 26 goals, who will be a UFA in July... and then another conditional first on top of that if he re-signs? Dreamer......
  5. Pribyl makes the czech squad and is named Alternate Captain. Tinordi is named Alternate Captain of the US team.
  6. The players can pay lip service to the change all they want... it clearly isn't working. And 9 pts in his last 7 games isn't trending towards columbus... quite the opposite.
  7. Why would they offer up Semin. That does nothing for us. Its another UFA to be in the summer.
  8. crawford made the single worst coaching decision in the history of sports, and i'll never forgive him for it. Revisionist history at best. The team started off 1-5-2 and was still above 500 when Martin was fired.... I'd say the trend was going the other way.
  9. I don't know... i kinda think that both Cammy and Cunneyworth are right on this one. Cunneyworth is right in that the PP needs more shots with more traffic, and more crashing the net. Cammy is right in that the PP needs a little more creativity too... right now there are too many guys standing still, not moving their feet, and as such it easy for the other team to close off shooting and passing lanes. Use both in conjunction (cammy's more movement) and Cunneyworth's more shots and crash the net... and you'd have something.
  10. Martin got a point against the Stanley Cup finalists and lost by one goal to what was then the hottest team in Hockey in Philadelphia, who was first in the East and had won 7 in a row at the time. At no point was Martin ever blown out by 4 goals, never mind back to back nights. And the only time his team went 0-5-0 was in October 2009 There is no way you can tell me we haven't played worse this week than we have all season.
  11. Beaulieu is by no means a soft defenceman. Common misconception about a guy who moves the puck as well as he does. He can hit, and he can really fight. He's really good defensively too. His major problem is that about once per game (if playing 25+ minutes) he will make a mind blowingly dumb gaffe or giveaway in his own end of the rink. I think he's the white, left-handed subban.
  12. Hes probably on a 25-30 goal pace. What 25-30 goal scorer is consistent? All of these guys are inconsistent/streaky whatever you call them... thats why they score 30 and not 55 If Kris Versteeg nets a first and a third last season... AK should get at least a 1st if not 1st +
  13. Here's a CP article on it. http://www.owensoundsuntimes.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1748773&archive=true BCE/Bell Globemedia etc... = owner's of the leafs... now a silent partner. FTQ - financing only, don't make management decisions... Michael Andaleur - unknown percentage. So the only guy who could be pissed off is Andaleur. The rest have no say as long as Molson pays the bills on time.
  14. Compared to what we've seen this week? Those were downright beautiful. Fixed that for you. There are extremists in the media. The problem is the extremists rise above the crowd and shout the loudest, so they are all the outside world hears. Unfortunately for us... the perception becomes that the entire population holds the views of the extremists, and yes... it hurts for bringing in new people.
  15. I think they are at close to 80% with Bell owning 20%. However due to Bell buying the Leafs, and league rules, they no longer have any influence on the operation of the time. They are forced to be a silent partner and can not question Molson on his moves or make any recommendations. They've been taken out of the loop.
  16. Washington has 2 first rounders too. They probably won't give us colorado's pick, but they might deal their own.
  17. Oh and how about this guy for the #1b centre. You wouldn't have to give up any assets, just keep losing. Mikhail Grigorenko. I'm willing to accept losing the rest of the year just to get him.
  18. Make him the 13th forward instead of first callup. I have no pressbox forward in my lineup.
  19. Only thing is its impossible to truly prove what players have given up and which ones are just slumping.
  20. Well here's the thing.. - He can't make any more money as a UFA than he can with the Habs. - He would first need to drop out of school before being able to be a UFA, and he wouldn't be a UFA until August. - The College season ends before the NHL regular season. The habs will have the opportunity to sign him as soon as the college season ends; something no other team will. This gives him one more advantage. If he plays 1 regular season game, he will burn a year of his ELC and become an RFA sooner, eligible for raises he can't get as a UFA.
  21. If they had given up on Martin.... what have they done the last three games? The only game they were competitive in for Cunneyworth was the Jersey game. Boston wiped the floor with us, even if it was a 1 goal game. For Martin, we had points in 6 of his last 7 games. There has been a lot more quit now; than there was then.
  22. The Kid is good friends with Leblanc, and has always shown a willingness to attend the maximum number of days at Habs development camp as allowed under NCAA rules. It might be possible for him to opt out, but I really don't see it happening.
  23. He doesn't have shareholders. The Montreal Canadiens are owned by the Molson Family.... they are an independent business now, entirely seperate from Molson/Coors Brewery. Geoff Molson is one of many shareholders in Molson/Coors; however the shareholders in Molson/Coors don't own a part of the team. Common misconception here... but an important distinction. And thats your Corporate Law 101.
  24. I agree with what you're saying here; that we've cut Randy off at the knees and its messed things up. However I'm not sure about your narrative. Making him interim wasn't so bad... What PG did wasn't that big a mistake. Tons of teams name "interim" coaches and then if they do well, hire them full time. Where we messed up was Molson's press release which said that "bilingualism is important" to the choice of the next full time coach. As soon as you did that; you made Cunneyworth a lame duck. No matter how well the team did, he was in a no win situation. And that is the moment you lost the room IMO.
  25. I know... just saying some rumour guys at least have the air of knowing what they are talking about.... this guy, you just know its bullshit right from the start
