  1. Jason Ward was so good in Hamilton in that season with the split Habs/Oilers affiliation, and the Habs were so bad, that we clung to anything we could find for hope.Rational fans realized he was a 24 year old winning AHL MVP, and was a journeyman NHLer at best. Others saw the former first round pick ripping up the AHL and thought maybe he's a late bloomer. Also the previously mentionned trade. Linden and Zubrus, for Bulis, Zednick and the 25th overall pick (Perezhogin) was one that finally injected some hope into this team.
  2. I still think we're a better team with Gomez than without him. He's still an nhl player. The only way I want Gomez gone is if he is replaced by another centre who can replace his offensive production. Sure you can do that for a lot less money than we are paying Gomez, but until you actually acquire that guy, there is no reason to jettison Gomez to leave a blunden in the lineup. I also think Desharnais is really much more suited to be a winger than a number 2 centre long term.Personally I'd play.Cam - plek - colePatch - eller - akDd - gomez - gio The third line might be small but it worked in the playoffs last year and I want to see that second line.
  3. So do we send him back down now? I think Patches has shown he'll be able to play.
  4. Game 6 might be the greatest baseball game of all time.
  5. Oh yeah, and I got the next GDT on Saturday too.... keep the streak going.
  6. 9-8 Jets final 9 goals against on 25 shots. I'm sure glad Philly solved those goaltending issues in the offseason.
  7. I think Cole was a pretty good PK guy in Carolina. Thats a way to keep him in the game on nights like this. Same reason Cammy is part of the unit.
  8. Thanks. When was he operated on? Sometime in December? or earlier? As I'm not sure if its 1 year post injury, or 1 year post surgery to expect a return. Still everyone is different and if we're talking 1 or 2 weeks difference... on a year long recovery... still sounds about right.
  9. JM almost never makes changes to a lineup that won the last game, unless forced to by injury or one of the studs is returning from injury... so I highly doubt it.
  10. If i remember correctly, Markov was injured around the end of November last year. He missed most of the start of the year, and then came in and played 7 games before getting hurt. This should put him at around 1 year for a full recovery. Give or take a little.Which is pretty much the timeline we all should have expected for a second surgery on the same knee in 6 months of each other.
  11. I agree 100% on this, on every point you made. Firstly the scapegoats on this team are Martin, Spacek, and Gomez. Maybe not as much here, but on twitter and other sites fans are brutal on these guys. Look at the hate for Spacho who is playing well this year, and Gomez who I thought was playing much better than last season but wasn't getting results. However these three are the holy trinity of habs fan hate.I also agree 100% on Martin, he's done nothing wrong, but if this isn't a turnaround, a move might still be needed just to try and get some positive momentum before its too late.
  12. My only issue with weber is the redundancy factor created by having so many RH defencemen who do the same thing. Subban, Diaz and Weber are all RH defencemen who primarily provide a puck moving and powerplay dimension from the back end. Now subban is a good defender too, and basically untouchable to me. But weber and diaz both provide the same function. They both are good offensively, and play good positional defence, but lack size and strength to contain big forwards. I think one of weber/diaz eventually has to go. Both are needed now because we have so few healthy d, but eventually the return of markov and campoli will give us 9 dmen. I'd rather have a big guy who can hit and play shut down d on the right side, then have all three guys in the lineup. There is no internal balance to having them. So I think you deal one of weber/diaz in a package to get another young player in a position of need. Another c with some skill and size. So that eventually gomez can be jettisoned. I think weber will be a good player, but I'm looking for something that brings more balance to our lineup. And I'm absolutely not advocating giving him away for free. Gotta get value for the kid.
  13. translate.google.ca would make for some epic laughs in the stories.

  15. I thought I made clear that I would play Emelin on defence because we have no big bodies on the back end.
  16. Ok, so none of you go out and snipe the GDT tomorrow. I'll be here to make another one, don't worry.
  17. He does speak french. But I don't want him. Worst coaching decision of all time... Ray Bourque over Wayne Gretzky and Steve Yzerman in a shootout.Worst coaching of all time, in any sport.
