Wishes for saturday.

1 Show up in the first period

2 Score the first goal

3 Play Huet he is our no 1 goalie do or die with him

4 A neat ice

5 Fair referring

I think you summed up my worst fears in number 5.

There is now way the leafs don't get the upper hand in PP opportunities tomorrow.

Sad really, but at least it is predictable and the coaches can prepare for it.

Why not pull the goalie for the entire game and play with a 60-minute powerplay? I mean, it's pretty much the only time we score...

But if Carbo is feeling boring he should go with Huet.

Well now the Habs most likley will not finish 7th so they do not have to play the Devils if they beat the Leafs. And most habs fans agreed that the Sabres would be a better opponent.

I am not saying I am happy with the loss just trying to be a little more positive the Habs still control thier destiny.

Turst me I would have LOVED a win tonight.

Actually, if we beat the Leafs we are 8th no matter what happens in any other game. Tampa has more wins than us and NYR is already 4 points ahead. The Isles have less wins so even if they won both their games, they wouldn't be able to catch us.

So atleast now it's completely impossible that we face the Devils in Round 1. But better the Devils in Round 1 than our buddies at Hole 1.

It's not going to matter who starts, the lazy slugs will have another no show and the other 18 will be responsible for not making the playoffs.

GOALTENDING is NOT the problem.

Alright, then why wouldn't we start Aebischer?

The goalie brings a lot of confidence to its team.

Absolutely. As shitty as we have been 5-on-5, I hope the refs keep their whistles in their pockets tomorrow. For if not, I feel like the leafs will benefit from PP goals

It is unfortunate that Halak's road record woes bring us to this difficult scenario. A few more wins and we would not be in this dilemma. As for bringing confidence to the team, I think Huet's return could pump up the players even more than aebischer. What a game ahead!

Huet prooved a lot of things in the two last years and overcomed experts underestimate him.

Toronto doesn't move the puck very fast.

He is the one we pay the big bucks, he is the one that can intimidate and dominate a game like no other goalie even Halak can do at this moment.

Go Huet i trust you're competence and leadership.

The worst case is us not making the playoffs.

That is not happened yet but it's better be prepared and give some reward to some players who deserves before the bashing starts.

What brought us in the race?

Players who improved this year.

Who improved?

Halak came from 5th in depth chart to become our number 1b goalie.

Plekanek grown as an accomplished centerman in the NHL.

Lapierre solidified our position at center with intense play and bringing energy with fast skating and good 2 way.

Latendresse at 19 years old played on every line and played the role asked of him on each assignment he was asked. On the first line he scored on the fourt he forecheck hard. More confidence next year and well see even more potential.

Komisarek has furfilled his role defensively and plays a much more responsible game.

Higgins lost speed after his injury and responded with better positionning but lesser goals. Showed intelligence and leadership. Watch him at full speed next year.

Kotstitsyn has proved flashes of greatness and it's enought for him to continue his development in Montreal for next year. Patience pays.

Where i am going with this ? The future is bright, even more kids will come to camp next year hopong to make the big club. For a team in semi-rebuilding we are ahead of schedule.

And to give these kids a reward for the effort, the veteran players should come out in Toronto and give the kids a taste of playoff fever.

How much character did they show against the Capitals during this stretch run, losing 5-1? And last night, there was no sense of urgency - the Isles wrapped it up quite easily once they had the lead.

I don't think the Leafs have any character advantage. Both Leafs and Habs have gone on a decent run when it's mattered most, including long home winning streaks. If the season series between the 2 prove anything, it's that it will be a game that goes down to the wire, with overtime/shootout a good possibility. The Habs have to be ready for a strong push starting earlier than that, though, because the Leafs have to win in regulation.

I doubt the game goes to overtime since an OT win is no good for the Leafs in a tie game situation in the dying minutes Maurice will most likley pull the goalie.

Great post. Even if we get eliminated tonight our future is bright.

I thought it might be helpful, in the wake of tomorrow night's (I think the Cucumber called it) "nervous puke-fest", to discuss just how nervous everyone is leading up to this game.

I don't need to re-state the implications of this game. But suffice it to say that it is one game we really do not want to lose...and I mean REALLY. Missing the playoffs is one thing, but this would be really hard to swallow.

A lot of people have stated this year, that it is just a game and we shouldn't take it so seriously. While I believe that to be true, I also think that anyone who regularly posts here is probably a serious fan. With that comes investment of time, energy and emotion. So I think even those that have told us to "relax, after all" HAVE TO at least be feeling some pressure at this point.

I, for example, have some very serious commitments and should be working dilligently and studying for a very difficult grad school exam. However, I find myself very distracted, like never before. I cannot stop thinking about tomorrow night, checking websites and analysis, and dreaming up possible scenarios.

I know by tomorrow night I will be a mess, and although I will be watching the game with others, I would almost rather be alone. Not because I am anti-social, but because I know there will be no holding back tomorrow. It's all or nothing, and I'm feeling it..BIG TIME.

I'd like to hear just how nervous you all are?

GO :hlogo: GO!!

I am so nervous. I have tickets to the game but do not know if I will be able to watch in person. I will have to have to vomit before the game that is for sure.

It is not just a game for many people. For a lot of us we love the Canadiens and their are plenty of Leafs fans that love the Leafs and will tell you the same.

I will no be able to function normally for the next 31+ hours.

I've been nervous for a week now. I know a lot of people have said that from day 1 they knew it would come down to this. I did not perdict that but once it got down to the last 2 or 3 weeks I knew it would come down to this. I will be watching with my brother who is a "Sens" Fan but he hates the Leafs. If the Habs lose though I might actually puke, I hate the Leafs with such a burning passion. Im not sure I will be able to sleep tonight...It's like the night before Christmas and you don't know if your going to get what you want.

This will be the biggest Habs game for me since the 1993 cup finals. Winning this game to me is bigger then anything that could happen in the playoffs. There would be nothing sweeter then knocking the Leafs out of the playoffs.

Please Please GO HABS GO

I'm already sick to my stomach with the idea in my head that the Leafs could actually end our season Saturday night. Although it would be great to win and oughst Toronto, the opposite would be too painful to bear.

Good thing I'll be watching at a friends and there will be some "refreshments" available should anything go wrong.

Well, the typical procedure for a case of mutiny was a captain's mast, with the penalty being death or the guilty party being castaway. But given the result of last night's game, I think it's a moot point.

But be warned. Do not speak such thoughts in public again!!!!

I haven't been able to do much for the last week other than analyse the standings and try to predict our chances. I can't really think about anything else.

Tomorrow night is going to be horrible: Since it is Easter, I will have to watch the game with my inlaws and wife who are huge Leaf fans. If the Habs win, I won't be able to say anything at all or else my (hot) wife will probably withold sex until at least next season. On the other hand if the Leaf's win, (or even get ahead) I will have to endure a constant barrage of taunting. Furthermore, this will continue at least until the Leafs are eliminated.

I would much prefer to watch the game alone but there is no way I can escape. Right now I just want it to be over. On the other hand it will be sweet if we go into their building and come away with the win (or even an OT loss). If that happens I'll have to make a special trip to buy a copy of the Sunday Toronto Sun and Toronto Star.

I just shit myself. And it isn't that solid stuff that kinda has the consistency of dried brick. It more like what you gets when you stupidly leave that Hershey bar on the dashboard at lunchtime in mid-July. And you work a couple of hours of overtime. And it's in the middle of the longest heatwave on record. And you didn't even crack the window on the car when you locked it. That enough details for ya?

Too many, actually. But hilarious, nonetheless

Wow, that is quite a pickle. I've never been to a game in TO, so not sure how hostile the fans are towards habs fans. But I remember going to game #5 Habs/Bruins in '02 (where Theo made like 50+ saves in Boston) and cheering as I normally do. I contemplated getting a security escort out of there, I felt so threatened.

Let it loose tomorrow night, if you go though...I want to hear the habs fans there!
