spent
:hlogo: vs. Islanders 31 March 2004 Montreal [ 40-28-7-4 ] New York [ 36-29-10-4 ] Habs lead season series 2-1-0-0, but have only won twice in their last 12 trips to New York to face the Isles. Montreal needs only 1 point in the last three games to clinch seventh spot, and New York needs 4 points to clinch regardless of what Buffalo does. Leading Scorers Mike Ribeiro - 20G, 43A, 63 pts. Michael Ryder - 24G, 36A, 60 pts. Saku Koivu - 14G, 40A, 54 pts. Trent Hunter - 24G, 24A, 48 pts. Jason Blake - 22G, 25A, 47 pts. Mariusz Czerkawski - 23G, 23A, 46 pts. Player Updates Souray - possible for tonight. Begin - stayed in Montreal nursing a shoulder. Brisebois - day to day with tender groin. Rivet, Quintal, Bouillon - missed practice with the flu yesterday. Komisarek - may sit if Souray plays. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Feel free to update/delete this, I was just bored this morning. :hlogo::hlogo::ghg::hlogo::hlogo: [Edited on 2004/3/31 by spent]
simonus
every time i see the word "Czerkawski" I just go nuts - especially next to 23 goals. There should be some site filter against that word. Between him and Yashin I think that they are asking canadians to hate the Isles.

habsfan88
I dont know why we didnt hang onto czerkawski, he does score. But anyways, this is a game thread.......what do you think the outcome of this game is going to be? I say 3-1 habs kovalev koivu souray
Fanpuck33_
I don't really care about the outcome. I just want to see Theo play well and Kovalev gel with his linemates. Those are two key things we need for the playoffs. Of course, I hope those things will, indeed, lead to a win tonight. sabumnimhabs
I really don't want to be a pessimist, but I really don't think anyone on the habs other than Theo and saks and possibly, but doubtedly Ryder will show up tonight for the game. After reading some articles and stuff, I don't think anyone other than Theo and Quintal can really care about the teams for the rest of the season, everyone else just wants to get the playoffs going. My prediction, 2-1 NYI and Theo faces so much rubber that CJ decides to give the team a rest and let Theo get some 5-0 action going!!! lol!! But seriously, I think NYI will come out too strong for us and IF we win, its because Theo stands on his head. Hope I didn't jinx it!!! :hlogo::hlogo:

puck7x
Souray is playing, Quintal and Bouillon are not because of that damn stomach flu thats been bothering the team, Brisebois and Rivet are also having flu problems along with coach Julien (so you might see him run to the dressing room a few times tonight...) Lineup tonight... Perreault - Koivu - Zednik Dagenais - Ribeiro - Ryder Bulis - Juneau - Kovalev Sundstrom - Dowd - Ward Souray - Komisarek Markov - Rivet Dykhuis - Brisebois Theodore (starts) Garon - Look at that defense! First pairing has a guy with a mysterious injury paired with the raw Komisarek, 2nd pairing has a guy with the stomach flu... And 3rd pairing has another guy with the stomach flu paired with that bum Dykhuis.... Ugh... I get the feeling its going to be a long night, hope I'm wrong! :ghg:
puck7x
BTW: Looking ahead to tomorrows game (but not past Isles tonight) , the Flyers will likely have Desjardins AND Primeau back in the lineup versus the Habs tomorrow, add to that the fact that the Flyers are already in Montreal waiting to face the habs, while the habs are yet to play tonight in New York... and tomorrows game looks real tough.... Damn schedule maker!

sabumnimhabs
Okay, here is some humour to make this game a little easier to swallow, if at all possible. TOP TEN COOL USES FOR ZAMBONI'S: (Rik A. Kyser) 10. Tie rookies up and drag them around the rink. 9. Chasing squirrels around the arena parking lot after practice! 8. Get a couple of them and DRAG!... 7. Doin' donuts at the face-off circles... 6. "Just wait until the next time Coach makes me mad!"... 5. "Aw Coach, I was just doing my Jeff Gordon impression!'. 4. Scaring the heck out of ice-level broadcasters and analysts! 3. "I just need it to smooth off my lake at home!"... 2. Provides a moving target for slap-shot practice. 1. CAN YOU SAY "ZAMBONI GIRL"?!!!!!! :-) The Goaltender's Psalm The puck is my shephard; I shall not ice. It maketh me save in unnatural positions; It leadeth me into leg splits; It restoreth my fans' faith; It leadeth me in the paths of odd-man rushes. Yea, though I skate in the valley of the shadow of the net, I will fear no sniper; For my stick is with me; My facemask and pads they comfort me; They annointeth my body with SportsCreme; My back-up tippeth over! Surely coaches and trainers shall follow me All the games of my life :hlogo: :hlogo:

Ribeiro
What's pissing me off is people at other boards are starting to blame the loss on Kovalev.
Prime Minister Koivu
:puke: This sucks! All I can hope is the team takes this as a wake up call. If we don't turn things around against the Flyers tomorrow, we are toast. Come on boys.......
Habinator33
I can't watch anymore. Kovalev = downfall of this team. He has rubbed off on the entire team and they are all from top to bottom playing lazy. Theres not a single player on this team that looks good. And Julien has to continue doing his job it's his job to get this team motivated and get that chemistry back. We have the worst powerplay in the league i'd just like to add. This team will get swept in the first round unless someone steps up and and gets this team going. Usually thats the coaches job and the captains job and the star players job and the goaltenders job. But I haven't seen any of them for the past week plus.
Prime Minister Koivu
I don't think they can compete with us" - Brian Rolston when asked about Habs We are going to see about that. We will surely see them first round.
Toren
I'd like to see everyone on our defensive core get benched. Especially Souray. He's a liability out there tonight.
Ribeiro
I can't watch anymore. Kovalev = downfall of this team. Yeah - that's what I'm talking about. :nono::mad:
Prime Minister Koivu
There needs to be a serious talk in the dressing room. Koivu needs to step up here. The game against the Flyers will be the test. If we play like shit then we are first round broom boys.
