It figures that NJ would get their act together in time to face the Habs. Then again, even when they were struggling, they still shut us out lol.

GO HABS GO!!!!

Ahhh Brian what ya doing to my GDT!

Can't be totally complacent, you know. :) I did fiddle with the one that started the streak too since the code was making the thread all screwy...Come to think of it, I fixed up the goalies on Friday for the NYR one, too.

Blah...I hate the way this BB deals with html..

This is a game the habs HAVE to win, no talk of Brodeur as the prodigal son coming home to roust, or that the Devils are in the habs kitchen, if the habs want to be taken seriously they cannot lose this game. The good teams beat bad teams, mediocre teams lose to bad teams.

Winning this game will not cause the Habs to be taken seriously by the know-nothing media blabbers or the legions of ignorant hockey fans. Even a semi-final appearance and spectacular series victories over supposed powerhouses led by Crosby and Ovechkin did not do that.

This is in no way a 'must win.' But obviously we want to sustain our recent winning ways; so it's important in the sense that every game in the second half is important.

It's a bit of a pain but I've got my template fixed up after a whole lot of trial and error. That's about all you can do to perfect the code...when I first tried to fix the GDT from earlier in the week, I made things a whole lot worse before it was fixed. There were divider lines everywhere and the Habs' lines appeared left of all the posts...before the poster info, avatar, and whatnot. That was an interesting 20 minutes, that's for sure.

Ok, I may have been too harsh in my comments, but the general idea is there, the habs for years have played down to weaker opponents, for them to take the next step they need to dispatch them with the ease of the better teams in the league seem to be doing.

NJ is not a weak team anymore.. they are playing much better lately.

Brutal start - Gill gives away a freebie.. (yes, there was a small hold, but still, he messed up). Poor Subban eats another minus for his partner, as does Gomez.

team just didn't look ready to start again.

Subban shouldn't be absolved of the blame there - he had a chance to skate it out and backtracked. He and Gill both are struggling, big time out there. Time to take them away from Kovalchuk, let Hamrlik and Spacek have a go at it.

Brodeur's not 100% with that knee issue, hopefully we see Hedberg to start the 2nd.

I don't see how Subban had a chance to skate out? Gill could have fired it out. Gomez could have fired it out, but subban hardly touched it. Once it was behind the net to Subban, the decision was made. Of course, if Gill wasn't held he might not have turned it over. :)

On the second goal, the CBC talked about how Subban tried to go back behind the net instead of up the boards.. ignoring the fact that he was pinched off from going up the board and had he tried, the same D who fired the puck for the goal would have had it anyway.

In my opinion, they just were not ready. They were losing every one on one battle for the first 10 minutes, including in plays that didn't end up in the net. We will see if they can turn this around with a solid 2nd period.

When Gomez reversed to Subban (and that was a strange move too as you noted), there was a lane to at least chip it through rather than reversing and going behind the net - he was beside it to start. I thought he had a skating lane but upon a closer look, it would've been a tight squeeze. Once he backtracked, he had to play it to Gill. Second goal was just bad luck but that pairing got hit again. That's why I'd like to see them away from Kovalchuk.

Well said on the slow start, though they were like that yesterday too. Only against the Rangers, they didn't pay for it.

There were signs of life in that period, some of them from the Habs even. They've got a fighting chance, but they need the next goal desperately. If the Devils make it 4-1, that just might do it.

On a side note, the coaching staff needs to institute a 5-second rule for Subban - do not stand behind the net for more than 5 seconds without moving. They have him do it on the PP too and nothing good ever comes from it. I understand that they're waiting for the line change but not everyone needs to be inside the hash marks before you start the rush. That icing was so dumb, it was almost funny.

Also, ~30 seconds left, an offensive zone faceoff, and the 4th line is out? Scratching my head on that one...Pyatt has played all of 3:15 this game, did they really need him at that exact moment?

Gets away with one... no penalties in the 3rd...

Why do we never get the calls when we are being mauled while trying to come back. Several great scoring chances ruined by a clear hook, trip, or hold.. not one call.

lol.. but they got the hook on PK. (deserved).

Gomez has had enough with the refs.

So frustrated with the refs...why is whenever there is a french canadian ref they try SO hard not to be bias that they actually are bias against the habs. I want a consistantly called game. The game in the 1st period was differently called than the third.

Now we will see if JM is a great coach away from the ice...he may be good at schemes, at X's and O's but I find him completely lacking with the media. If he doesn't call out the refs for the shouddy calls, I will never say he's a great coach. The coachs who use the media to address the refs, get more calls, I tire of JMs passive attitude in regards to the refs.

Despite that, the habs are missing Cammy, but whether it's JMs style or not, but they have to start scoring more.
