2013 NHL Trade Deadline

The Sharks get a 4th rounder in return. Handzus has really fallen off the map this year, just a goal and an assist in 28 games.

Still a very good faceoff man, and experienced 6-5 center. Good depth move by the Hawks for the playoffs.

SJ trades Handzus to Chicago.

This is odd. Handzus to CHI for a 4th round pick. Clowe expected to be scratched for tonight's game. Yet, SJ is in 6th in the west with a 3 pt lead. It seems SJ is pegging themselves sellers, but are in a playoff position.

They probably think that they can replace them within their own yard.

Chicago isn't very smart.

Handzus has been the bane of Sharks fans this season.

Handzus briefly played for the Hawks in 06-07 and was a pt per game.. alright only 8pts in 8 games but still..

You also have to consider the Czech Republic element.. he joins fellow countrymates Frolik, Hossa and Roszival.

His contract expires at the end of the season. Solid vet, size, good on faceoff, all in a solid deadline acquisition for the Hawks.

How long do you think it took him to deliberate waiving his NTC to go to Chicago? 3 seconds? Maybe 5?

Considering his season, I'd say less. I think this is about as long as it took:

Doug Wilson: "Michal, we've reached an agreement on a trade. We'd like you to waive your NTC to go..."

Handzus: "Where do I sign?"

Wilson: "...to Chicago. "

It sounds like the Leafs have received permission to talk to Kiprusoff's reps to gauge his interest in coming to Toronto.

Ryane Clowe is expected to be a healthy scratch for the Sharks tonight (for trade purposes although that doesn't mean a deal is done yet).

Bouwmeester to the Blues for a 2013 1st rounder (top-14 protected), prospect Mark Cundari, and Reto Berra (who is being replaced by Robert Mayer next year in the NLA). If St. Louis misses the playoffs, Calgary receives their 4th this year and an unprotected 1st in 2014. Berra's a decent goalie too, I expect he'll be useful for the Flames next year.

B.J. Crombeen agrees to terms on an extension with Tampa Bay. He was another of the 4th line tough-ish guys available.

Marc-Andre Bergeron was yanked from practice today and is expected to be dealt shortly. Could he be the Habs' PP specialist once again? (I hope they're aiming a bit higher than him...)

Edit: It appears they are aiming higher, he's Carolina bound.

Contract talks stalled with Streit, expectations are he'll be traded. I'd love to have him back.

Markov - Gorges

Subban - Streit

Boullion - Emelin

2 pairs capable of playing against the other team's top line. Would come in real handy if we had to face Pittsburgh.

Olesz is on waivers. As I recall he's an 80's-ish forward who's big and consistent.

No?

Wait?

HWL?

And Cam Barker! Click 2 and a beast.

I'd easily sacrifice Habs 1st pick and Tinordi for Jiri Tlusty... ;)

The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly interested in bringing back left winger Raffi Torres after he was made available by the Phoenix Coyotes, according to CBC’s Elliotte Friedman.

At least we know Torres is available. Now, what is the asking price? Vancouver apparently going after Clowe as well. So, is there a good possibility we could get Clowe or Torres, depending on what happen with Vancouver? Although VAN and MTL aren't the only 2 teams interested I'm sure

It looks like the deal for Jagr is him for Lane MacDermid (low end tough guy), Cody Payne (who looks to be a future low end tough guy), and a conditional 2nd rounder that could become a 1st. In doing so, that would probably preclude them from dealing their 1st in any potential Ryane Clowe deal.

That conditional 2nd rounder becoming 1st rounder is if the Bruins win 2 rounds of playoffs.

So will we cheer then for the Bruins against the Pens in the 2nd round ?
