DON
Gotta ask, any inkling on Mr. Throwers' rehab?
dlbalr
Gotta ask, any inkling on Mr. Throwers' rehab? I don't think he has started skating yet so he's still a ways away from returning by the looks of things.
dlbalr
Bournival is back for the 3-in-3 weekend. He'll take Bowman's place as he has been recalled to the big club.
dlbalr
And Bowman gets sent back this afternoon, no surprise there.
dlbalr
So Hamilton police is apparently giving out tickets for those getting stopped in a RIDE program who haven't had anything to drink. (This, according to a tweet on the main page I just saw.) Just how desperate are the Bulldogs to get people to the games?
DON
Farm team moves every so often don't they, they were in Fredericton when I was there and they were in Sherbrook I think and Nova Scotia Voyageurs who Carbonneau played with . So what is chance they may just move back to a Quebec town, where likely get better support wouldn't they? (and there are no AHL team in Quebec at present, Quebec city maybe?) dlbalr
I think the long-term plan is Laval but that's a few years away from the looks of things. The fact that Michael Andlauer has an ownership stake in the Habs may also help keep them where they are.
DON
Laval seemed nice place when stayed there 30 years ago... holy crap gettin old
Machine of Loving Grace
So Hamilton police is apparently giving out tickets for those getting stopped in a RIDE program who haven't had anything to drink. (This, according to a tweet on the main page I just saw.) Just how desperate are the Bulldogs to get people to the games? - Stopped at RIDE program - Get free Bulldogs tickets - Goto Bulldogs game - Get drunk - Stopped at RIDE program - Don't get free Bulldogs tickets I don't know why people don't goto Bulldogs games... oh right parking is stupid expensive. Cut parking fees by 50% and you'll pack the arena. The short time I was living in Hamilton that was the common complaint.
dlbalr
Tangradi was sent down after the Hab game. Hopefully he'll be available for tomorrow's rematch against the Amerks.
dlbalr
Shane Bakker signs a PTO. With de la Rose heading for the WJC's, there's a decent chance he'll see some playing time over the next few weeks. http://hamiltonbulldogs.com/pressbox/news/?article_id=
DON
Seems Mac Bennett is becoming more involved on offense and Dogs are above .500 now and doing better.
dlbalr
Tokarski has been sent down for conditioning (he'll get the next two games) so MacDonald is likely up for tomorrow. Tangradi has been sent down as well.
dlbalr
Thrower has been assigned to Brampton of the ECHL. With the team already having three defenders in Wheeling, this isn't really much of a surprise.
Lovett's Magnatones
For those who watch, what are the chances of Jack Nevins playing in the NHL?
dlbalr
For those who watch, what are the chances of Jack Nevins playing in the NHL? If the Habs need a fighter at some point, he'll have a good chance. He's not making it based on skill though.
Lovett's Magnatones
If the Habs need a fighter at some point, he'll have a good chance. He's not making it based on skill though. How about Connor Crisp? Isn't he supposed to have an actual upside?
dlbalr
How about Connor Crisp? Isn't he supposed to have an actual upside? Short-term, I don't see him having an impact in the next year or so (whereas Nevins in a pinch could be a 4-5 minute a game goon). I expected more from Crisp this year but in his defence, he's not getting much playing time. I think he can have an NHL future if his overall game shows some improvement; if all goes well, he could be a passable eight minute a game guy who can fight. dlbalr
Charles Hudon has been named to the AHL All-Star Game. This should come as no surprise to anyone. Bryan Allen has been sent to Hamilton. If he's still on the team come Friday, I wonder who will sit. (I'd like it to be Finley but that would just make too much sense.) dlbalr
Oh boy, cue the violence in the Hamilton area discussion once again; this time, Nygren has a leg to stand on... https://translate.google.ca/translate?sl=sv&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.expressen.se%2Fgt%2Fsport%2Fnygren-i-ranardrama---brorsan-nedslagen%2F&edit-text=&act=url
DON
Hmmm? too bad, but I know little of Hamilton, maybe is a bit on the shady side and Nygren wasn't exaggerating last year?
miklin
Nygren would be scared sh*tless if he lived in Toronto. Absolutely nothing in the Burlington or Hamilton newspapers about the alleged assault on his brother. The unemployment rate is 6.7%. Crime rate is low enough that the Hamilton police budget ran a surplus. Sounds like someone has an axe to grind due to Magnus not playing closer to home. There are a fair number of walking wounded who likely should be institutionalized but that has been like that in any major city in Ontario since the Harris Government cut back spending on Mental Health. dlbalr
We know a bit more now about Tangradi's injury - it's a fracture in his left hand after it got with a puck against Milwaukee. He'll miss around a month.
dlbalr
Tinordi has head and facial injuries, no timetable for his return. The team isn't using the dreaded 'c' word either.
dlbalr
Nygren's back in Sweden for a week according to a Swedish paper. They also mention that he has a concussion, the first time I've seen anything other than speculation that that's what he has.
