CoRvInA
evolving from another topic Who should Gainey go for as a MArkov like D that WE F(&%$@ NEED! Im convinced we do! ... and also if you think otherwise please ease my pain by convincing me not to worry! Also looking at our cap space who fits that description under four million! "4 Mil" ??? lidstrom is out of the question so is Chara WHO I say WHO??/ maybe we should come up with a list of potentials and also with the higher probability a team would trade him to us for something we've got ... ( Aebs, Perez Ribs Ryder... ) just throwing names out there! Edited September 2, 2006 by CoRvInA
Habitforming
I'll bite. How bout Aucoin? The Hawks wanted to move him to MTL last season, why not now? Are we really that desperate on D to go and get a $4M player though? Myself, I think not; the habs were not bad last year defensively (check the stats). I think a guy like a Salei or Vishnevsky style "take you out in front of the net" defenseman would do it
CoRvInA
But remember when Markov was out for two or three weeks!!! Our D was nowhere! You could say we need to train the team and the D to play without Markov but regardless we need someone who will step up and be that MArkov like player! sbhatt
Markov-like players don't come cheap.
johnnyhasbeen
Andew Archer? JP Cote? We wil see come camp.
Tony
Andew Archer? JP Cote? We wil see come camp. Those guys aren't even close to NHL level. Sure Côté has a small NHL stint last season but he still needs some maturing to his game.
KoZed
Habs need a right side D who can move the puck and play on the 1st PP unit. Rivet, Komisarek and Dandy are not particularly good at it. Seems like our top 3 offensive D's are all on the same side (Markov, Souray and Bouillon). The answer might be Streit. If he can better settle in the NHL style and generate just a little more offense, he could help a great deal. Or simply have the Habs dress 7 D's (leave Downey in the stands now and then) and use Streit as a PP specialist. Otherwise if our troubles continues, I'd seriously consider moving either Dandeneault or Rivet which is a risky move since both guys are well-respected vets within the team. Not an easy decision for Gainey. Might simply come down to an age/salary question.

CoRvInA
we need jay boumeester but I doubt thta mike keanan is that stupid oh well, still can dream, right ?? AHhaa I share those dreams too Your not alone! GReat stuff Markierung Thats what I needed to see a list......Im for Beauchemin Mara Zhitnik and Aucoin But those would be replacements for Souray so top 4 dmens What about top pairing Dman Who is around 4 Mil and under? I mean if you look at Markov's profile on TSN http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?i...e=nhl-canadiens thats a 4 Mil and under Dman... but better than a top 4 dman. MAK
what I would really love is to get like a 4th dman who could really rock the opponents and block shots. of course I think that the guy i'm wishing or could be komisarek but if we could find a lefty to play along him we could be a bit more intimidating. I believe that every team in ouor division as a legit shot at making the playoffs and if we want to make it to post season, we'll have to win around 70% of those games. since our overall offense is up to par with every other north east teams, we just have to focus on our Dmen to make guys like brier, sundin, spezza pay the price. teams need to be afraid of us again
CoRvInA
http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/212401.html the Woolley mammoth! Ok this guy is older than me! perhaps a number 6 or 7 D? I smell Nipotism here in a good way ... I think Muller or Carb Knows this guy and must be thinking he can add experience to teach Komi Streit and Cote something.. so if its true its a short term plan!
