Getting tickets from scalpers.....

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine and I want to go to MTL to see the game vs Boston next Thursday, but we have no ticket right now

How difficult is it to get tickets from scalpers, how much time before the game should we get they're, how much extra compared to face value should we expect to pay? Any tips for dealing with scalpers?

the best bet is to get them as close to the game as possible...one person does the talk, the other shuts up

since it's 7 30 pm and he didn't sell his tickets, he will want to get his money back so you're in a power position. after some haggle, if you don't agree, th e one who wasn't talking just says: screw this, i'll see this other guy there i'm sure he's doing a better price then you...make sure you remember the price the 1st guy told ya so you can start from there with the other vulture.

this move should create panic to the 1st scalper so you might even get the bellow cost.

The other good thing to do is to check that you've got the right date for the game.

We play Boston on Tuesday, not Thursday... hehehe. Maybe that's what you meant though? At least if you came down Thursday there'd be a game for you guys to see... Tampa Bay.

i went to a playoff game with the bruins a couple of years back and it cost me 80$ per ticket

In the nosebleed section.

just go and bargain. and on most cases you should be paying twice the ticket price.

if the nosebleed costs 40$ you could get away by paying 60-70 since he needs to sell them

Haha, no problem. I mix up the days when they're in french just the same. I've made sure to straighten it out though. Parking around my house is hideous during the winter months, so I've got to know when and when not to park on either side... hehe. A $42 ticket is not exactly my ideal x-mas gift.

Also...

Nosebleeds >>> Reds

If you don't want to deal with scalpers you can get tickets here: You still pay over face value but you know what your getting.

I noticed the price is higher than usual since it is Boston.

Actually, looks like these guys are sold out for Boston unless you want to go solo.

Thats where I normally get my seats when I go up to Montreal. If im not mistaken I think all the remaining games through admission are sold out except for some singles. I could be wrong though.

Yep good advice, plenty of deals to be had at gametime when the scalpers havent sold the tickets and want to salvage some of their loss. Also when you're about to close the deal, make sure to inspect them closely cuz sometimes they try and pull a last second switch to give you two singles.

I use to get tickets from a guy that advertised in the paper. Never more than double face value. Wish I still had his card. That was back in the forum days though.

My friend and I sell our season tickets on ebay. The tickets are in the reds, section 122 row W. We have the Boston game available. Anyone interested, we'll sell them for $150 to first person to email us willing to pick up tickets (at residence beside Westmount park).

Email is captainbenjaminlwillard@gmail.com

You can email us about other tickets too. Also, you can look us up on ebay to see our user rating, name is benjaminwillardhockeyfan

If your willing to risk missing the faceoff and/or parts of the first period or even get shutout completley you can always wait, and approach the scalper closer to faceoff or after (if you can find one). The price of the ticket falls dramatically after the opening faceoff. THen apporach the scalper. If he doesn't take your best offer, simply ask him if he can eat that ticket. Your best price is better than him getting nothing. Sometimes after he says no, and you go back a few mintues later, he'll accept cause he still hasn't found a buyer.

I've found this works really well. Although I have missed many faceoffs, long minutes of first periods and even occasionally been shotout by scalpers I have probably offended by saying this to.

But that just works for me and I am willing to accept the risks.
