  1. I really understand what you mean. If the fans and media continue this trend, nobody will want to play here. The recent success has helped, but the fans need to keep in mind how much they affect the psyche of teh players. It does more harm than good most times.
  2. I am happy with this deal. The money is fair to both sides. Won't kill the cap if he doesn't put a few years together, and opens the door for contract extensions if he does. Anyone quibbleing over 500 thousand needs to remember that every player is paid higher in Quebec. If it was Calgary, he would probably make 2.25 a year and have the same in his pocket.
  3. I think that the teams should get 100 dollars worth of poker chips for every goal. If the game ends in a tie, the captain and assistants put on little visor hats and sit at a poker table in the middle of the ice. They play texas hold-em elimination tournament until only one is left. The winner is credited with a goal, and his team gets the win.
  4. I'd like to know his take on the exodus of Boucher and company, and how the team of 09/10 under Boucher compared to the previous years of Don Lever and co. Was Boucher that big of an impact, or did the team just align with PK Subaan, Sanford, Dejardains, Trotter and Dejarnais maturing at the right time? Who did he preffer as a goalie? Sanford or Dejardains? Why is Maxwell so highly touted in the AHL, and invisible in the bigs? Who should move up first? Carle or Weber?
  5. link I couldn't agree more. What a waste of time all this stuff is. Get rid of th ewhole lot and go back to the right way. 5 minutes of OT. If you lose you get nothing. If you tie you get a point, and if you win you get two. All played 5 on 5. Nothing has changed.
  6. Another spin on this is the general western redneck opinion of Quebcois. I am from Western Canada, and I can tell you that when I tell people about how Montreal is my favourite Canadian city, over Vancouver, I get the same crap every time. "Ya, once you learn French! If you don't speak French, they won't even talk to you, even though they know English!" or "Ya but all those guys are rude and arrogant!" You would not believe the ignorrance I hear from people here. I can personollay say that, while I understand a bit of French, it is almost impossible for me to comunicate in French, unless the other person has the time to slow down and speak with me. I didn't speak French with anyone there, and I can safely say that Montreal is a Great city. It is social, I feel safe there, and it is very beautiful. I never once felt out of place. St Katherines is a busy street. If you walk in Granville street, Yonge street, or Whyte Ave, I guarantee you won't feel as safe as St. Katherines. That may be a false sense, but I really felt that way. Shopping and dining was the same. A lot of very friendly, open and genuine people, willing to have a great conversation with you. And it does not have the big box sameness that I have seen in every other north american city I have ever been.
  7. remember the penny's from heaven sign on the jumbotron? then the pennies falling down? He was amazing that series. Then Roy shows up. I was mad. What happened to Penny? He's the best. Who's this shakey headed guy? He looks like he has epilepsy or something. Oh... he's good. He's really good...Steve who?
  8. Totally agree! I understand about 1/3 of what I hear on RDS as far as comentary, and I still way preffer it to whichever jerk from MSG, or Versus is on NHL centre ice. TSN, RDS, and CBC are the way to go!
  9. Awesome! Hopefully Tinordi takes the junior route too. I hate waiting 4 years for prospects to not turn out. lol
  10. Especially when your ADHD nephew and diabolical wife gang up on you! Now that's a big risk. hahahaha
  11. In hte cap world, it appears that long term contracts for goalies are going the way of the dodo bird. I tend to agree with Wamsley on the playoff goalie theory. When was the last time a goalie stole a cup? I guess you could argue that Ward won the conn smythe and therefore he was the reason Carolina won. The only guys in the last 20 years that I can think of are Brodeur and Roy. Brodeur had powerhouse names like Stevens, Rafalski, Elias at his prime, Gomez, Gionta, Madden (one of the best shut down centres in recent NHL) , Joe Nieuwendyk, Scott Niedermayer... Holy crap! The goalie that won the conne smythe that year was Giguere. He did not win the cup for his team. I would argue that Brodeur did not win the cup for his team either. Look at the team! I would argue that the only goalie to actually win it for his team in my lifetime was Patrick Roy in 1993, and maybe Brodeur in 94/95. The rest of the great goalie playoff performances resulted in not winning the cup. I'm not saying that you shouldn't pay big money for goalies, but Montreal fans are too used to having a great goalie bail them out, and then we are the first to blame a loss on the goalie and boo them out of town. I would rather pay price reasonable money for two or three years and reavaluate. As I said. If he is worth big money long term...where are the offer sheets? there are none.
  12. why is he holding out? If he's looking for 3 years at 3 million, and he was worth it, I'm pretty sure another team would put an offer sheet in for 2.9. He's obviously not worth it right now. 2 years... 2.5 million. Reassess
  13. Aaron Palushaj had a hell of a playoff. I wonder if he isn't taking off? Danny Kristo could be a great second round steal too.
  14. Umm, housing in Calgary, Edmonton is very high. Especially Calgary.
  15. Moen better show up this year. He was a bit of a disapointment for me. Ahahaha. It's so true. Leafs and media over rate their players like crazy! Sundin and Kaberle are the only stars that team has seen in 10 years.
  16. So, the offseason moves are done. Meh... We'll see, I guess.
  17. Gill, Gorges, Halak, Cammie, Lapierre were the best players in the playoffs for the Habs. Laps was awesome!
  18. Laps has his place on the team. I just hope he can play more consistent. Once in a while he needs to stand up for his antics too. Overall, I like him though. I know it doesn't mean anything, but has anyone noticed how north american this team has become?
  19. Gonch feeding Kovy on the right slot? seriously? I think that get's them 8th place right there.
  20. Ya, you are right about that. Unfortunately I am one of the negatives this year. Price has never really given me a reason to think he is stable and ready to be a star, but he has shown how good he can be, and that he can make the next step to elite. When he is on his game, he is really a joy to watch. I am really worried that the fans may rip him apart. I think listing the positives and the expectations from the team might be a nice change. The team developed great chemistry and a never say die winning atitude last year. You don't have to go back too far to see an example of the strong affect this can have. When Boston took us to game seven, and in the following year they dominated the league. I keep saying that the team didn't get better. Well, maybe they did. Moore and Metro could not wear down the other teams defense. They were very good in their roles, but were relatively perimeter players. Maybe Eller and Boyd will be able to do this. I expect more bang and crash from Moen this year. He was just kind of....there. We may have gotten better just by bringing up Subban. I know he is a rookie, and I'm not expecting him to change the world, but this kid has something special, and it could be infectious. SK is gone, and I figure we have till Feb, March next year to see how AK does. If he still has no heart, I hope to see him go bye bye to another team, so we can get some size and grit in the top 6. O'Byrne could be an intangible here too. I remember us bashing Komi when he was young too. He could mature as well. The problem there is I think JM doesn't like him. Every season a player from the previous season slumps, and a slumper finds his game. My only worry is that AK will go crazy and turn into a 6 mill player and we sign him. Then he goes back to sleep.
  21. Soooo...ummm...ya. Auld is bum!
  22. I agree with that. I hope that the chemistry will be crazy strong next year and we look really good. We saw that when Boston took us to game seven, but developed chemistry. The following year they were injury free and had a hell of a season.
