  2. Yes, I am pretty sure Hughes tried hard to move up but not always easy to do which is understandable. I am sure he will try again.
  3. Carolina typically pays coaches and execs much less than people with similar job titles on the other 31 teams. With Brindamour it took forever but dundon finally gave him a fair contract recently. Word was he wouldnt do it for Waddell. So look for him to take another GM job (im betting columbus yes) that will pay him much more than carolina.
  4. Lol. That's great! My first thought when the Canes allowed Waddell to look elsewhere was that they asked him to remain as President, but give up the GM job in favor of Tulsky. But Tulsky only being named interim GM seems to quash that theory. I wonder exactly what position(s) he interviewed for in Columbus. Does being GM mean enough to him to work under JD? Does he want both titles like he usually has had? Or is he ready to just be a President and only replace JD, with the abilto handpick a GM?
  5. I think Hughes said after both drafts that he 'tried' to use or bundle picks to trade up, but couldnt find a dance partner for whatever reason.
  6. Beck had nice steal and SH scoring chance in the 1st, seems a smart player. Beck scores in the 2nd, up 2-0 Parekh scores 1g2a makes it 3-0
  7. Yesterday
  8. I want to see McDavid win a cup. That said, i think dallas takes the series as they are just so deep a club.
  9. Olivier Galipeau signs in Germany for next season. I thought he might stick around in the 6/7 role but I guess he wants to try his hand overseas. https://www.eisbaeren.de/news/detail/the-next-44
  10. Waddell found out that Bergevin was in the running for the Columbus GM job. so he quit and with one more act of revenge, Waddell is going to take that GM position away from Bergevin.
  11. I would agree that the Isles likely initiated the trade. I hope other teams looking for "quantity over quality" contact the Habs as they have an excess of picks, especially in next year's draft.
  12. Waddell was on an expiring contract. He might have had the nerve to ask for a raise after being one of the more underpaid executives over the last decade. As we know with Dundon, he fully operates under the 'everyone is replaceable' mindset when it comes to his off-ice personnel.
  13. I would bet the NYI are the ones who contacted the Hawks for this trade for "quantity over quality". Hawks agreed to pay the price (an extra pick) to get better chances of getting 2 players they like and that they feel will be "contested" when draft comes.
  14. I'm half expecting the Islanders to flip one of those second-rounders for a player, effectively getting the player for slightly moving down in the first and second rounds, allowing them to get a piece to help now without hurting their weak prospect pool any further.
  15. The timing is weird, maybe the start of more deals?
  16. You can almost guarantee that will happen. The old "we didn't think he would be available" happens every year.
  17. They move up 2 in the first and 4 in the second for the cost of 61. Seems fair value.
  18. What an odd trade at an odd time. Im scratching my head
  19. How many of those are recently released updates and how many are from january/feb. Hes dropping in many rankings when released monthly.
  20. Less chance than very unlikely, I would say almost zero chance. I wonder what's really going on in Carolina with Waddell leaving??
  21. Actually, all we will know is what each team thinks about the players still available when they select ... I actually think THIS YEAR the traditional "we had him higher on our list" may actually be true ion many cases.
  22. The only thing that I am ready to predict with confidence is that after the first 2-4 picks EVERY general manager will say some version of "We were pleasantly surprised he was still available at <insert pick number>, we had him higher on our list". BTW: with the apparent lack of consensus in the top half of the draft, THIS YEAR it may actually be true.
  23. Perhaps I was giving more weight to Button's most recent rankings which had him at 10. Or maybe others had the opportunity to raise their profile while Lindstrom was hurt. Anyway the draft will be the true test. Then we will really know what the pro scouts think.
